What Keeps Nuclear Weapons from Proliferating

What Keeps Nuclear Weapons from Proliferating

Most Dangerous Freeway Interchange Ever

Arkaium says...

I speak farsi. I shall translate what he says, roughly:

"This sign that you see here marks the exit to the Imamzadeh Hashem Shrine, which you can see is presently covered up. Precisely by this sign, in front of this exit, there's a warning sign which reads 'Risk of Death.' This exit is the freeway interchange between Qazvin and Rasht (two cities).

"Now allow us to show you the continuation of this exit so you can see why exactly they've posted a 'Risk of Death' warning. If you look along this path you can see, for example that car there, it enters and turns, and turns and then enters along this overpass we're standing upon. It continues on, and of course with these signs here it must follow this path, bending right, it continues, and then goes straight, straight, and then it goes down, and, it would appear, goes basically right along side oncoming traffic.

"Now, perhaps I've made a mistake in trying to figure this out, let's take a look at the reverse path. If the oncoming cars enter this interchange here, disregarding all the signs which must be wrong because they're pointing the opposite way, they come along, they go down, they pass right by that 'Risk of Death' sign, and then are again right along side the reverse oncoming traffic. I can't make heads or tails of it. I don't understand this whole setup, how this turns this way, this turns that way... Just, thank God I didn't study engineering because then of course people's lives would have been at risk (I detect sarcasm).

"Well you can see these cars here, and how much trouble they get into ahead. they're all stuck behind each other, thinking they'll easily get on the freeway and continue on their way to Rasht. But of course, they come across a 'Risk of Death' sign, and then have to merge, multiple cars, signalling to get on.

Interview of Iranian driver:

"Hello, sir. Where are you going?"

"I have no idea. I'm trying to make a u-turn."

"Do you realize what happens if you go this way?"

"No."

"If you continue this path here, you'll go straight and keep going and then return coming in the opposing direction of traffic coming from Qazvin headed for Rasht. You'll get crushed! And if you go back this way, you'll come off the interchange going directly opposed to traffic coming from Rasht headed for Qazvin. How did you get on this interchange?"

"They made this thing, how is it supposed to work?"

"I don't know how it's supposed to work, how do you think it was supposed to work?"

"I have no idea. <Unintelligible>"

"What do you have to say to the engineer of this overpass, regarding all this metal and cement and labor and resources that were used on this, what do you want to ask them?"

"Why did they make this overpass? what were they thinking?"

•••••

End:

"And now, our question of the engineers is this: at the time they were building this overpass, with thought to how much this cost to make in money and resources, why/how this overpass ended up like this? While they were building this thing, didn't any engineer, any construction worker, anyone who was working on it oversee this and ask 'what's the deal with this thing? where does the entrance go? where does the exit?' Really, that's what we ask our viewers. How?"

lol, gibberish can be in any language

In Farsi and Arabic writing, using the proper letter case is the rule. So if they wanted to use those letters it should be:
قدنف

It is like writing english in script font, but in all caps. Since the HOTEL was in all caps, the artist used all caps for Arabic sign, thinking that it should make sense, but it doesn't.

But who cares, the game looks awesome ...

>> ^Mcboinkens:

@ 0:23 the hotel name is complete gibberish, couldn't they get someone to proof read this!

Uh...what? You realize the text above "HOTEL" is not in English right?

Play the Game - Queen

The random music game (Music Talk Post)

Farhad2000 says...

This is from my work computer. I should do this again at home.

1. Johnny Moore - Sold To The Highest Bidder
Great country track with a auctioneer vocalization speaking at 400 words per minute.

2. Easy Star All-Stars - Airbag
Dub stars made an album full of Radiohead covers called Radiodread. It works.

3. Bruno Nicolai - Indio Black
Funky 60s/70s theme for a TV show I believe. Think OST for The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

4. Mathew Jonson - Decompression
Minimal techno from M_nus

5. Mad Doctor X - Deejays and Emcees
Remember puffin the herb from human traffic? This guy made it. UK hip hop.

6. Unknown Artist - Track 1
I believe this is from the OST for Chronos by Ron Fricke. But I found it in a compilation by Stay in Bed called Telepathic Fish.

7. The Field - Mobilia.
From the aptly titled From here we go sublime. I was pleasantly surprised by this album. Great trippy dance tracks.

8. Niyaz - Allah Mazare
Ethnic Farsi modernized music along the lines of Dead Can Dance. Haunting vocals.

9. Track 13 - Pirates of the 21st Century
OST from a classic Russian action film. Instrumental.

10. Nelly Furtado - Maneater.
Am a sucker for Timbaland beats. This one is particularly good.

Someone ripped the integral video from MEMRItv.org. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWmTlxJ-5Ag

Here's MEMRI's transcript from Farsi (Persian/Iranian): http://memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Page=archives&Area=sd&ID=SP101805

Let the Videosift Roast begin! Zifnab takes center stage... (Parody Talk Post)

blankfist says...

Sorry I'm late. I almost didn't make it to the roast, because, well... this is a roast for a dragon and frankly I'm not a retard. Still, I can be a good sport. In honor of his roast, I'd like to give you a little history behind our resident dragon. Zifnab, as some of you may know, is banfiz spelled backwards, which is Swahili for blanfizt, which is Farsi for blankfist. You see, I'm zifnab's sockpuppet. It's true. I know it's shocking.

Now that the truth is out, I'd like to apologize to everyone for posting all those annoyingly trite Zero Punctuation videos. Even I don't find them funny. Five minutes of stream of conscience blathering from an indignant Brit. But enough about deputydog. I'm a Canuck with a fondness for Monty Python. That means my taste in comedy is about as relevant as Canada itself. Did I mention our flag has a leaf on it? No? Well that's probably because anything about Canada isn't worth mentioning. Our number one export is maple syrup. That's a country legacy to be proud of!

But, look at me now. I'm ranked number one on VideoSift. That's like winning a two person beauty contest against Choggie: yeah, you're technically the winner, but somehow your low expectations still makes you a loser.

What are your thoughts on God deciding to create Jesus today instead of 2000 years ago, and Mary wanting an abortion? Are you for theistic abortion, or against?

Hehe, where would you like to start?

I'm always up for learning strange ideas about various topics. Maybe we could have a strange-off competition, then sit at home and cry about the fact that we just competed to see who is more strange. Or not.

I'm Toby, a true blue swede (blue because of the cold) and procrastinator extraordinaire. Socialy inept, silent to the point where you might think me mute, gloomy to the point where you might think me suicidal, there's hardly any prejudice about swedes I'm not living up to.
There's nothing in particular that I'd put down as an interest. Don't have any real hobby or past-time occupation except for lurking the sift, really. Also, Got a bit of a pet peeve when it comes to people listing theirs and adding stuff like "music", "movies", "food" etc. For some reason it just feels like such unnecessary information, a filler if you will, like there would be anyone who didn't like music or who couldn't stand food. Not that the interests themselves are the issue mind you, but rather the lack of specificity.
I've some strange ideas on religion, politics, society, video games and just about anything you can imagine, and would love to exchange thoughts if you don't mind the ramblings of an uninformed and ineloquent mind.

Currently unemployed after some time working in the eldercare business, I'm waiting to start my university studies this fall and hopefully become an engineer someday.
Previously I studied to become an English teacher, but after two years there was no question I didn't have what it took to be a real good one, and it wouldn't be fair either to me or my students to do some halfassed work.

The most amazing person I've ever met was a 12 year-old boy who had immigrated with his family from Iran. He was fluent in three languages (Farsi, Swedish and English), was an advanced guitar player aswell as a straight A-student.
It's people like that who give me hope for the future of humanity.

I admittedly have not studied up on Ahmad... but I do understand the prejudice that exists in Iran.

In reply to this comment by deedub81:
You bring up some good points, but I learned about leaders in the Middle East denying the holocaust a long time ago. It wasn't propaganda, I heard it straight from the horses mouth in speeches and such.

My good friend Sadiq Husseinzada has text books from Pakistan and from Iran. He grew up in Pakistan. I don't read Farsi so I'm taking his word for it, but he told me that they teach that the Holocaust is a debatable event.

The fact that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an Anti-Semite is not in question, nor is the fact that he's kinda cooky. That being said, I don't think we should EVER go into a country to prevent something from happening. That's like arresting somebody that expresses hatred toward 7-11 because you thought they might someday rob one.

In reply to this comment by dystopianfuturetoday:
^Even if that were true, it wouldn't make the mass murder of Iranians any less of a holocaust.

The 'wipe Israel off the face of the map' canard this is pure propaganda.

I'm going to check on the text book thing and get back to you. Just keep in mind that there is a major propaganda campaign underway to dehumanize Iran and justify an attack. I'd suggest you be more skeptical about government/corporate media claims about Iran.

Reality check. Did you fall for WMD's and yellow cake?
