FYI, the English version was called Fantastic Planet. It is available on DVD.

For the record, there aren't experiments or evil in this movie. Humans are merely animals which are used as pets on this planet and treated as such. The domestic ones are just like dogs or cats and treated as such (in some houses well, in others not so well), where are the wild ones are considered pests and exterminated (or attempted to). So in summary, you can only call it "evil" if you consider the domestication of animals evil.

The Nurse Who Loved Me is one of my favorites. I hesitate to say that I own 4 copies of Fantastic Planet The used record stores around here have been selling them for $2.95!

This is a great band that isn't too well known. Their songs are smart, moody, understated and their musicianship is high level. The new album should be out soon. Check them out if you can.

The guitar player comes from a band called 'Failure' who had an amazing track called 'The Nurse Who Loved Me'. (here is a not so great live version - http://www.videosift.com/video/The-Nurse-Who-Loved-Me-Failure - save it if you like.

Oh my god, you beat me to this. I had Failure on my list "to sift" and didn't think anyone could possibly think about doing it first. Haha, I love Failure, they're one of my all-time favorite bands. Fantastic Planet is just one of the best albums ever and definitely dominated my life when I was a teenager.

Autolux - Turnstile Blues

damn! i was gonna sift this. great to know we have fans here though. saw them with the band Amublance LTD a few years ago. both were great. and i must agree with DFT, The Nurse Who Loved Me is a stellar song. As is the rest of Fantastic Planet (and their others).
