Nice to see Shpongle and Infected Mushroom on your list, dsjunkid, hadn't listened to them IN YEARS, literally! And Saint Germain is nothing to be ashamed of, even with their popularity.

So here's my 10 cent:
1. Bear McCreary - Something Dark Is Coming (BSG Season 2)
Dark ambient. One of the best tracks from _the_ best TV series soundtrack ever created, I shit you not. We're off to a great start; McCreary is exactly what I hoped to see on my list.

2. Joke Society - Morphing Morning
From Cafe Del Mar SunSand. Yes, I confess guilty as charged, I'm one of the Cafe Del Mar obsessed.

3. Faithless - We Come One

4. Awake On A Train - Múm
Their 2000 "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK" is one of the best albums in the world, period. This masterpiece of theirs is even better than Sigur Ros (they're both icelandic). We're doing a lot better than I expected.

5. Obstacle 1 - Interpol
Again, "Turn On The Bright Lights" was one hell of an album. Thank you, people that helped me sift some of their stuff. This is indie rock at its best.

6. Ace Of Spades - Motörhead

7. Evergreen (Dusted Remix) - Faithless
From Hed Kandi's Winter Chill 3, this is one of my favorite lounge/chillout tracks of all time. Excellent mix, too, a lot better than original, which is definitely saying something.

8. Jumbo - Underworld

9. All Along The Watchtower - Bear McCreary (BSG Season 3)
Best modern cover of this masterpiece. A tune of harps and sitar pave the way for a surprisingly powerful progressive guitar. I strongly suggest you google/youtube it.

10. Knights of Cydonia - Muse

Well, I must say, I never expected this to turn out as well as it did. Thank you, trusty shuffle, I may now actually use more of you in the future. And thanks for starting this experiment, dft

Reasons to believe. (Sift Talk Post)

We could guilt-trip them into coming back to take care of their child??? Auction their collective after a month of inattention? Spam them with e-mails?? I like the 3rd suggestion.
I was once told when I first joined the sift, and noticed the usual, rabid counterpoint to anything remotely conservative, that going up against this type was like "knocking over chess pieces with a water pik" I chuckled at and appreciated the simile, and found this to be an adequate observation when applied to the dynamic between the faithful and faithless, (with regard to spirituality)....I like to look at it this way-
Those most rabid in their derision of religion, (and so-flagged, "conspiracy theories"), are invariably the folks with the most lop-sided, un-actualized and sophomoric world views. They tend to be insect-type personalities, who are satisfied being bound to the available sensory apparati, and have no room in their process for the unexplainable or metagnostic, unless that unknown factor is part of some scientific method or on-going codification or experimentation. This has everthing to do with imprint, experience, and exposure, and most of them will probably say, "Thank Bob, I was not imprinted with, or exposed to that, etc, etc, blahppity, blah blah, so many variations on a theme.

I propose a collective that encompasses the best of both worlds, the mundane and the supernatural. A pit, where the the zealots of both camps can preach, pontificate, and perhaps, proseletyze in.....call it, hell, God Vs.Satan, Black Vs. White, Light Vs. Dark...........

As long as the world spins there will be those bound to duality, meditating upon the differences of a single thing
kicking a horse without legs, trying to get the thing to move.......

You Christains can be preachy, lemme say, but those damn God-boppers must have some secret seminary somewhere as well....lioke I have suggested in the past, "Oh ye that have all the answers"....G E T A R O O M !!!!!

Feedback on Religious Dialogue in Comments (Sift Talk Post)

Hi Gwaan,

I have seen most of those videos and they most certainly count in this discussion. I appreciate civility of debate within your own Collective and what I've seen as a willingness on your part to confront issues under the umbrella that is Islam. Even when, to the Collective credit, videos critical of Islam are posted, I get the impression that most of the dialog is conducted as adults.

By way of comparison, I listed videos having to do specifically with Christianity. Many of them and their commentators are more than merely dismissive of the Christian faith. While I find a lot of things Christians do in the name of God abhorrent, I also believe that on a very fundamental level, we're all in this together. However, when the rhetoric toward the faithful or the faithless descends into personal attack we all lose. That goes for people who condescend toward Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindu, Atheists, etc.

I think that my posting of that list was misunderstood by both Fletch and you. Either that means I hit the mark, or it means that I screwed up. Knowing me it was probably the latter. All I meant by it was this: the Christians aren't the problem and the Muslims aren't the problem and the Atheists aren't the problem. The problem is the problem. We're running out of time on this little sphere and our children are going to suffer if they aren't already doing so. And if we all can't figure out a way to make it work and focus on what's important, we're not going to have a world in which we have the luxury to explore the wonders of the universe, both exterior and interior. That's all I'm saying here. I've said too much already.

Peace.

28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Thank you, budzos. You pretty much said everything a frustrated, faithless human being desperately seeking some form of actualization would say....as predictable as any born-again christian......

i listen to a pretty broad swath of musical genres. and, to be totally truthful, i found this due to it's political and controversial natures; i haven't really ever heard anything else by faithless.
