Ancient cat video

luxintenebris says...

read of a person that found film left in a camera in an attic of an old house. had the film processed. the majority of the pictures were of the family pets. more of the cats than the dog.

from Eygpt to early film to the 'net.

1913. that's pretty close to being historically factual. if that cat is 1, the avg lifespan was 8, filmed in '06...good job.

Star Wars: Teaser Trailer

Very cool. So, there's this story that when Lucas washed the rushes (early film edits) without music, he thought he had a total dud on his hands---it was after the iconic John Williams' musical score was added, that it suddenly fleshed out into the space opera that we know and love so much...

I wish Episodes I,II, and a good chunk of III hadn't, uh, gone astray (Jar Jar Binks must die!)---and Ewoks???
Sigh.

Still, Star Wars...

Darth Vader Re-Edited into Classic Movies 'Nooo!'

@critical_d Makes me wonder how much of what we love about star wars we can give him credit for. How much of it was the influence of others and the pressures of the day that shaped it. It would seem, now that he has complete control, he consistently doesn't get what people liked about it. In the little exerts, he thought we wanted to see Yoda with a lightsaber jumping around like a moron, instead of being the Yoda we all remember ("Great warrior. Wars not make one great"). I'm convinced through the prequels, special editions, and reedits that everyone around Lucas made his early films great. When I go back and watch me some Indian Jones, I see the same playful feel and interesting characters as the first star wars. Perhaps he is capable, just but this time he just wasn't up to the task. I just know that for about 2 weeks now I have been trying to imagine how I would do the prequels, perhaps I should storyboard it out

In a lot of his early films they simply did not have the budget or expertise for safety gear and equipment. In his later films, there generally are safety precautions taken. During the slide down the building in "Who am I?", for example, he was attached to a winch.
