Petoi Nybble, The First Product From OpenCat

looks like their indiegogo campaign is still going - $225 for cat kit. ($175 early bird sold out)
5 of the Worst Computer Viruses Ever
I remember when I had an early day at work, being the first one in my office - and I got an email with an attachment "LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.txt.vbs".
I spotted it for the virus it was, and sent out warning notices to the other colleagues. Some of them still opened it, though.
And then I understood the morale of it all: Early bird gets the worm.
Early Birds vs Night Owls
It is hinted at but not explicitly stated, but isn't possible that early birds are also more optimistic, proactive, etc. because their genetically predisposed sleep pattern lines up with the artificial timeframes set up by society? Are they basically getting a pat on the back by society for conforming to its needs?
For example, are early birds more depressed/less proactive in Spain where the average workday starts sometime between 10 and 11 am and ends close to 8 pm? Wouldn't they then suffer from the same "social jetlag"?
Early Birds vs Night Owls
I used to be a night owl, but now I am an early bird. Weird.

Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys (Teaser)
Got the certificate for the Star Wars Early Bird Set for Christmas in 1977. I might have them somewhere (although they were well played with).
Badge Idea (Sift Talk Post)
Actually I guess that could work.
I think the badge levels should double at each level.
Badge level 1 - 100 points total.
Badge level 2 - 300 points total.
Badge level 3 - 700 points total.
Badge level 4 - 1500 points total.
etc.
That should really keep them within a suitable range over time.

I just thought about this because of all the "damn, you beat me by 20 minutes" comments and I thought it would be great to have some kind of mechanism to reward the early birds.
Here is how I would do it:
As soon as a video hits the "Top Videos" list, sifty can go back and check who were the voters #2 to #9. Points could be 9/10 for voter #2, 8/10 for voter #3 and so on up until 1/10 for voter #9.
(Why not voter #1 and voter #10? I think the first voter should not get 10/10, as he is usually the original poster, who gets rewarded with a star anyway when the video hits the top list, and I think voter #10, who gets it out of queue is already covered by the Assisters badge.)
Points add up in the background over time and induce the early adopter badge at certain levels. If that level is set at reasonable intervals it would not lead to "ridiculous levels" either.

Sen. Whitehouse Criticizes Drilling Advocates
Can I *beg this one out of the queue? This is good stuff.
Hopefully that makes up for Whitehouse's (one of my senators) appearance on the "Early Bird Rule" clip featured on the Daily Show.
The Daily Show 7/30/08: STFU and Get to Work Senate
So what exactly are they fighting over with this early bird rule?
TYT: Clips From Hagee's Sermons
And the Main Stream Media is completely SILENT on this, giving McCain a *pass*. Not like the pass he got to sleep with prostitutes in the military. Not like the pass he gets for the early-bird senior special as Hobee's. It's a pass of a far worse kind that will devastate this country if he somehow wins the election.
Drum Rolls, Cababges, Potatoes, Beetroot-MINK gold (Sift Talk Post)
Early bird gets the worm eh choogie? Kudos MINK! I personally get a kick out of Mink's videos because every single one has something to do with this imaginary country called Lithuania.
