Nigerian Slap Fight

LiquidDrift says...

I can't believe they don't always get knocked out doing this. The first guy didn't know what he was doing and hit his opponent in the side of the face.

The second guy knew where to hit though and the first dummy opened his jaw angle to make it easier to get knocked out. At least he didn't use his legs/hips to hit even harder.

I really hope this doesn't happen very often because getting knocked out via blunt trauma = very bad for brain in long term. Would have been safer if they boxed it out.

Trump Lies On Twitter During Hearing On His Twitter Lies

cosmovitelli says...

Trump has spent his life straight up treating people like dummies and using daddy's fortune to take their money. He figured out he can just ignore the 40% of the country with a brain and an education.
The republicans are frozen, unsure whether to be horrified of the potential political results or just in awe.

I couldn't agree more, I never will see the appeal in this practice of taking picture after picture after picture of yourselves. With either the bug-eyed shit-eating ventriloquist dummy face, or the dull blank bovine staring at the computer screen look. Or the 3rd one, that combination unsure shrug smirk face that I have only ever seen when someone is taking a picture of themselves. There was a time when people only did that shit in front of the bathroom mirror, now it's their LinkedIn profile picture.

It's hard to take some MBA project manager seriously at the office after seeing their painfully close-up duck-lips bedroom-eyes headshot online. Or when they send me a Lync message and their bloated pasty mug shows up in HD technicolor on my computer screen. I can't click on IGNORE fast enough.

Diver may have found 'lost nuke' missing since cold war off Canada coast

What?!

"The US military said the lost bomb was a dummy capsule – packed with lead rather than the plutonium core needed for an atomic explosion."

Ah, ok then.

"Government records indicate that the lost bomb was a dummy and poses little risk of nuclear detonation, said a spokesperson."

Wait. "Little risk"?! What do you mean, little risk? I thought it's a dummy. Shouldn't it be no risk?

New Rule: America Rules, Trump Drools

newtboy says...

Trump saying it's not true is actually an indicator that it is true, and Trump's word is the only evidence that any of those claims are false. If you have some evidence that any of those accusations are false, why are you hiding it?...I didn't see a single fact in your reply, not even an argument, just a person with their fingers in their ears screaming 'nope nope nope nope nope'.
You drank the coolaid. The things you accuse Clinton of have been publicly investigated repeatedly and found baseless or at worst, unprosecutable.
Clinton is polling at 91% support from African Americans, Trump polls at 1%.
Name another FACTUAL complaint about Clinton, I'll discuss it. She's a liar, unless compared to Trump. She MAY be corrupt, but Trump is corruption personified.
Hilarious...you accuse me of hypocrisy and a factual deficiency, but you completely ignore Trump's glaring disqualifications, don't dispute a single fact, you make one up yourself (her support among African Americans), and you whine about it, while blindly supporting one of the worst manipulators in recent history.
I think if Clinton was guilty of saying 1/10 of the disqualifying statements Trump has made, you would have an aneurysm due to uncontrolled rage at her being a candidate.
Try having something to say next time....not just 'you big dummy, you make Toby cry hurt'.

Oh, I already know how much you care about facts and just bend them the way you need them. But Ill bite. Once.

At least half of that is a lie, not based on actual facts, only on your interpretation, and has been proven wrong already. Yet you guys still believe it. And on the other side you dont believe the stuff about Hillary, that has been proven long ago, and every normal person would have been jailed for it long ago and lost all support from true ethic people. I mentioned the hypocrisy. And you have proven my points perfectly. Youre going off over words.

Its unmasking how you believe so much stuff that is based not once on facts, and yet you only mention the emails on Hillary. Only one thing.
Seriously? Do you think I will start a proper discussion with someone that biased? You guys make a joke of yourselves, and then wonder why people like Trump get more and more support. You dont even get how you only hurt yourself with sick thinking like that. You dont know cause and effect, and thats why you dont get whats going on in the world because of politically correct liars like Hillary. Your hypocrisy is choking me. Maybe thats your tactic though? You having no facts, and thus annoying the shit out of people with such bullshit and hypocrisy, that they wont even bother with you, so you can keep spewing that crap without intelligent people touching you, because they know its useless with you guys. Whatever, as I said, youre only hurting yourselves with jumping on lies, like the side you accuse of them, marking yourself with a big fat red bullseye for manipulators to target you even more.

It's supposed to be a no-wake zone

SFOGuy says...

Yah, hard to know the particulars---and the wind and current probably would have worked against this idea---but---I did have a sailing instructor who stress tested me in a narrow channel by proposing that I'd just lost the engine---now what would I do?

The correct answers? Well, it's a sailboat, dummy---you could sail. And if all else fails---drop anchor (as long as you had the swing room; and even if you didn't, the resulting collision would be less impressive.)

But---we don't really know how the captain and pilot got into this situation.

I look forward to learning more.

Someone screwed up leading up to this , , but the engine thrust causing the destruction was probably the right call , for whatever reason , the ship was on its way to simply crash into the marina, and that would likely cause _much_ more destruction. Also obviously too late to call the tug boats . (When the video starts)

RetroReport - Nuclear Winter

RedSky says...

I agree it's fair to argue there is an incentive in science, fudge statistical methods so your findings are more significant and warrant publishing in a scientific journal. But this is an incentive across science, and it hasn't stopped scientific progress as by nature, the process is self correcting when contradictory studies come out especially in a busy area such as climate science. The cost of falsifying studies or having your study contradicted is also significant however.

If you want to talk incentives though, consider the benefits to spreading doubt about climate change by the fossil fuel industry. 7 out of 10 of the largest revenue generating companies in the world are in oil. The industry stands to lose some $30 trillion from climate change in the next 25 years. Paying a PR firm to promote an agenda, paying researchers to dummy up research with a pre-determined anti-climate change conclusion is chump change to them. The cost to them are negligible if they disguise the source of funding sufficiently (e.g. funnel it through a business lobby).

Meanwhile any impropriety on the part of some climate scientists has not shaken the 97% consensus on climate change.

Buttle said:

It became obvious that the calculations supporting the idea of nuclear winter were fudged. Same with climate change -- I'm not saying that it does not exist, just that there is a strong and pervasive incentive to maximize hysteria without regard to science or facts, which leads, eventually, to climate fatigue.

Climate change will be remembered as one of the more striking popular delusions or madnesses of crowds.

Very appropriate title.
