I disagree that muse's recent stuff sucks, at least if you mean "Black Holes and Revelations". I find the whole CD quite listenable. I think that Starlight, Map of the Problematique, Exo-politics, Take a Bow, and Knights of Cydonia are all really good. I think their previous albums were about as good.

I think the comment was in reference to the videos, not the music itself.

I'd heard Uno and Unintended on the radio before but this was their first video I saw. Still think it's their effin best.

Real shame their videos (and music, too) have kind of, well... sucked lately. With the notable exception of Knights of Cydonia, of course; that one I love. Otherwise, they've gone downhill ever since

Nice to see Shpongle and Infected Mushroom on your list, dsjunkid, hadn't listened to them IN YEARS, literally! And Saint Germain is nothing to be ashamed of, even with their popularity.

So here's my 10 cent:
1. Bear McCreary - Something Dark Is Coming (BSG Season 2)
Dark ambient. One of the best tracks from _the_ best TV series soundtrack ever created, I shit you not. We're off to a great start; McCreary is exactly what I hoped to see on my list.

2. Joke Society - Morphing Morning
From Cafe Del Mar SunSand. Yes, I confess guilty as charged, I'm one of the Cafe Del Mar obsessed.

3. Faithless - We Come One

4. Awake On A Train - Múm
Their 2000 "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK" is one of the best albums in the world, period. This masterpiece of theirs is even better than Sigur Ros (they're both icelandic). We're doing a lot better than I expected.

5. Obstacle 1 - Interpol
Again, "Turn On The Bright Lights" was one hell of an album. Thank you, people that helped me sift some of their stuff. This is indie rock at its best.

6. Ace Of Spades - Motörhead

7. Evergreen (Dusted Remix) - Faithless
From Hed Kandi's Winter Chill 3, this is one of my favorite lounge/chillout tracks of all time. Excellent mix, too, a lot better than original, which is definitely saying something.

8. Jumbo - Underworld

9. All Along The Watchtower - Bear McCreary (BSG Season 3)
Best modern cover of this masterpiece. A tune of harps and sitar pave the way for a surprisingly powerful progressive guitar. I strongly suggest you google/youtube it.

10. Knights of Cydonia - Muse

Well, I must say, I never expected this to turn out as well as it did. Thank you, trusty shuffle, I may now actually use more of you in the future. And thanks for starting this experiment, dft

Holy shit, I just got this game earlier, and I have to say, it's the most fun I've had since getting the Orange Box. I just played for a few hours straight. Best 10 bucks I've spent in ages.

Man, the Sift should somehow get commissions for all this promotional assistance we give.

But then, are we in it for the money, or the joy spreading? Seems like it's the joy spreading. Unless dag really needs some money, in which case, talking should be done with... someone.

Try it with some slow music with less beats - a slow classical music piece with violins perhaps - or just an acoustic ballad? If you're not really into puzzles in the first place I don't know what else to say.

On the super-fast songs it's really tough to avoid just overfilling and wiping out though, I'll give you that. I liked using Vegas or Eraser on those modes because it let me 'fix' my mistakes or the fast segments' wreckage rather easily.

I was surprisingly meh on this game. It sounded like a good time... sort of like Guitar Hero (which I love) but with ANY song in my library. Awesome, right?

Maybe it was my choice of songs, but I never felt really connected to the music. It felt more like I was racing, and music happened to be playing, but the game wasn't really about the music.

Maybe I just don't like to think that much when I'm playing a game... never liked Tetris, so I really didn't like playing as anything but the Mono guys in Audiosurf. Having all those different colors and worrying positioning and what to pick up, making big clusters... too much going on at once for me.

Anyway, I guess it wasn't for me, but I can see how it would be like crack for Tetris fans.
