Casey Heynes' Bully Richard Gale says HE was bullied first
I strongly agree with your assessment of the father here. In the original post about this bullying, we discussed options for trying to prevent this scenario from ever coming about. It was decided that the best way to do it was through behavioral shaping, and the best way to do that is through good parenting.
What's really impressive to me is that, despite the family situation, the parents on both both sides are very well spoken, and seem to have good values that they at least intend to pass on to their children. What's alarming to me is that the parent of this child fails to do this, even though he intends to. This is clearly evidenced when the kid says he isn't sorry for what he did, and then is corrected by his father offscreen, and then the issue is finally brought out...on camera, by the interviewer. After talking things out and finally achieving character growth, the kid realizes what is wrong about what he did.
Even through all the crap that this family is going through because of how widely popular this video is, and how the entire world has practically vilified this kid and his entire family, his dad never actually sat down with his kid and talked about why he should feel sorry about what he did, and why. It took a television interviewer to bring the issue to the table. I can't think that his dad is a bad person, just that he's not talking with his kids about the important issues like he should be; but it just blows me away that if something of this magnitude can't make a parent do their intended task, what will?
Really, that's not a rhetorical question; what will?

...This kid is going to have some real problems in the future if pops doesn't step up his parenting game. So far his biggest concern seems to be the public humiliation and vitriol he's suffering cause his kid got caught being a twat. He needs to be extremely alarmed by his child's seeming lack of empathy or inability to judge appropriate reactions to a lackadaisical insult.

Glenn Beck - God Punished Japan With Earthquake, Tsunami
Here we have the same gargle of atheists going out of their way to get pissed off at one man's opinion. It's fun to be offended...the religious equally enjoy being offended by what they deem blasphemous.
All right, you don't care for GB and wouldn't no matter what he said, but you would "respect" him more for saying what he "really" thinks? Read the quote. It implies something, but is so vague as to be meaningless.
Obama never says what he means and he's the President. For now.

Beck quote: "But I'll tell you this: whether you call it Gaia or whether you call it Jesus -- there's a message being sent. And that is, 'Hey, you know that stuff we're doing? Not really working out real well. Maybe we should stop doing some of it.' I'm just sayin'."
It was not a well-constructed thought, but it says nothing to the effect of God singled out Japan for its sins or that Japan 'deserved' it.
Tis a far cry from what Stenk and Friends are insinuating, but expect no less from "interpreters" who are anti-religion.
So supernatural force causing earthquakes to send a message that stuff people are doing is not good. It is still a moron trying to place human causation on a natural disaster. He's playing the same stupid game he always does, 'I'm not going to say (blank is a blank) but wink wink you gotta wonder.'
And thus why I suggest he's got shriveled raisins for testicles because he's too much of a pussy to say what he actually means. I'm sure his fans would eat it up and his buddies at FOX would just go, Oh Glen you so crazy, but you make us a lot of money so we love you.

Secondly, and more importantly, why the fuck do natural disasters have to have a human reason?
I've met a few people who's thinking is something like "God says he protects us, therefore if anything terrible happens it's because 'He' intentionally caused it for a good reason." Some people just don't like (or can't handle) the idea that very bad things can happen for essentially no reason and that we're powerless to stop them.
I don't know what Beck actually believes, but given his style I'm sure he'll find a way to tie this event to some ideology he disagrees with. "Japan implemented <random policy> and look what happened; God obviously dislikes <random policy> and people who support it."

I agree somewhat with Westy, it certainly lacks the flair of American football when a player makes a spectacular catch, or well executed plays trounce their opponents.
I've been trying to watch some NFL games on tv here in Finland when I have the opportunity, because I do think that handegg is basically a good game, requiring a lot of tactical and strategical thinking along with high amounts of athleticism. The problem is that it's impossible to watch. Totally, completely impossible. We lack the advertisements you guys get over there, and since there really isn't anything to replace them with they have to put on a blank screen (because they don't get the feed during the advertisements either), so you get a few minutes of game time and then you get a static image with some elevator music playing until you get back to the game for another few minutes. If only the pauses between plays would be more along the lines of 10 seconds, tops...
At least the Super Bowl had some historical footage to show during the commercial breaks...
Defense Departments Interactive PS3 Super-computer
>> ^Crosswords:
Why PS3's? Only thing I can think is that they may be cheaper for the hardware.
Several reasons.
1. Desktop processors are designed to sort data it takes in, allowing developers to code easily and quickly without to much concern for the CPU, this however has a major downside. Upto 1/3 of the processor isn't used for work, but for just sorting the incoming commands. The Cell in the PS3 however has virtually no sorting, and instead relies on the developer to do that. This makes the cell more bang per buck than many processors at similar size, speed and cost.
2. The Cell is designed around parallelism, which is perfect for super computing tasks. Many organisations use PS3 based machines just like the airforce for everything from rendering to weather prediction.

Not to knit-pick but, those are just the qualifications to get hired, has nothing to do with the training. And no, I'm not defending TSA, just trying to keep you on track.

He felt "threatened", never heard a cop use that excuse before...
This is the shit that happens when people in authority risk very little in the way of consequences for their actions, and are held to such low standards of professionalism. A doctor can make a mistake on a difficult diagnosis and have the crap sued out of them, but a cop can blow a hole through an unarmed person and claim they felt threatened and get nothing but paid leave while internal investigations figures out a way to spin the cop as innocent.
Haha! So true. A doctor's insurance is sued right off the bat for malpractice! Show that doctor, I mean insurance who is boss!
Oh, and let it be known that a drug lord can blow a hole through an unarmed person, and if he gets away with it, he wont be punished! You could too! And everyone! How sick is that...
But back in sane-land; it depends where you are and how cops are held accountable. If the Sheriff is held accountable by the voters, and the Mayors who assign police chiefs, then the cops are held to the fire every time a fart is blown. If you are in an area of lazy voters who do not care and make the brass immune, then nobody cares...
So, who do we blame for this? ah yes, the voters.

these tea-party libertarians they elected are really ultra bat-shit conservatives
I'm pretty sure - 100% actually - tea partiers are not libertarians. When did this rumor start? Because I've been hearing it a lot from the Democrats.
If memory serves correctly the original tea-party movement was primarily a libertarian movement, however it was quickly subverted and taken over by the ultra conservatives. Basically so they could scream bloody murder over the economy, the bailout, and the democrats without the taint of being a rank and file republican. Or to put it another way, its a different puppet but with the same hand up its ass.
Republicans love to prop-up libertarian ideals when its convenient, its just inconvenient to actually be because then they'd have to cut defense spending, bloated contracts to private sector, and respect the separation of church and state.

@kronosposeidon and @Crosswords, you guys make me feel thankful for living in Ohio. Things didn't go well here for team blue yesterday, but at least this state still has some swing to it, and I can expect big Democratic organizations to make a play here every single time there's an election.
