Iraq war draft?

gorgonheap says...

Until world war 3 I highly doubt that a draft will be in the works for such a small war as Iraq. Counter-terrorism is the new conflict of the century, similar to the cold war. Heck a draft was more likely in the mid 80's then it is now. Just another democrat full of BS who likes to invoke fear as his ally and not common sense or reason.

Arsenal of Hypocricy - the space program and the military

NordlichReiter says...

I agree with this whole thing of space crap, and the whole thing if tyrannical escalation. But that doesn't stop its possibility.

Yes our standard occupying army cannot thwart terrorist aggression, but given free fire on said homeland states for Terrorist, would be devastating. Our country grows bolder every day, and yet we sit around and vote hoping that it will make difference. It will make a difference, but not when we need it the most.

The same can be said for Israel, on the outside they look like they cant take care of terror, but its the human condition to kill each other. The Munich incident did happen, and the movie that Munich was based on is a true story. Don't think that our military has to fight by Mechanized rules of engagement. There are specialized teams, spies, counter insurgents, black tape or what ever you want to call it.

Imagine what would happen if the majority of people knew what kind of Spec Ops was going on, and you think the current war is bad. If the darker side of our military reared its head the war we see now would pale in comparison.

But the incidents where some bogus counter terror op goes awry, they are so few and in between, that we never notice it.

Keep your head on the outside of these bogus ideals, and make your own opinions. If the time comes to make them heard then by all means speak loudly so that every one can hear them.

I did think it was a cool post though lol. I forget, that the internet is world wide, so when i say our military i mean the US military.

Brigitte Gabriel telling it like it is

joedirt says...

"But which points of Gabriel's speech do you disagree with here?" --> the point at which Heritage Foundation invited her to speak.
If the NRA or ACLU invited someone to speak, it wouldn't be just anyone off the street. So do I disagree with everything Heritage Foundation stands for and f-ks with in policy influencing, yes. Scaife et. al. are real scum. She is a partisan hack who represents a Christian, conservative think tank (ACfT)

"The difference between the Arabic world and Israel is a difference in values and character. It's barbarism versus civilization. It's democracy versus dictatorship. It's goodness versus evil." -- Duke University Counter Terrorism Speak-Out, October 14, 2004

Hmm, hard to disagree with that... The difference between this woman and Ann Coulter is.. well.. one's adam apple is bigger.

The Dark Side - Frontline on Cheney

sfjocko says...

PART ONE

On September 11, 2001, deep inside a White House bunker, Vice President Dick Cheney was ordering U.S. fighter planes to shoot down any commercial airliner still in the air above America. At that moment, CIA Director George Tenet was meeting with his counter-terrorism team in Langley, Virginia. Both leaders acted fast, to prepare their country for a new kind of war. But soon a debate would grow over the goals of the war on terror, and the decision to go to war in Iraq. Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and others saw Iraq as an important part of a broader plan to remake the Middle East and project American power worldwide. Meanwhile Tenet, facing division in his own organization, saw non-state actors such as Al Qaeda as the highest priority. FRONTLINE's investigation of the ensuing conflict includes more than forty interviews, thousands of pages of documentary evidence, and a substantial photographic archive. It is the third documentary about the war on terror from the team that produced Rumsfeld's War and The Torture Question.
