Peacemaker | Opening Credits | HBO Max

mram says...

Seriously... everything everyone else said, but you have to give it a chance. If you take it in bite size chunks it's corny. But the whole thing is just amazingly great.

John Cena is balls out (ha!) great in this. And the supporting cast is endearing and interesting.

I have no idea what's going to happen next at all and I freakin love that. I mean, only 3 episodes in and I never expected what I just saw. There is some serious love in the material and crafting here.

And just to say it again, John Cena is fearless.

The Peanut Butter Falcon | Featurette "Zack's Story"

Saw this yesterday - it was good. Cute story, some solid comedy, not particularly corny or saccharine. Worth seeing, though certainly doesn't require a theater viewing.

2.0 - movie trailer

jmd says...

Jesus christ we need more of this! I will happily pay for corny movies with great cg like this vs great cg movies that are just plain bad. I mean it SEEMS like someone with a shit load of money was like "Dude..the internet loves this guy... we gotta fund the next movie but bigger and badder!"

No vegetables, no dessert!

Atomic Blonde - Charlize Theron will fuck you up

NaMeCaF says...

Oof. That fight scene in the beginning was atrocious. I've seen B-grade movies with better fight scenes. Either Charlize can't "fight" for shit or the director/choreographer needs to be fired.

Meh. Looks pretty corny and forgettable all over actually.

Envoy

xxovercastxx says...

I actually found District 9 to be nearly unbearable. They had so much to work with given the setting and undertones and they made a corny action movie with a cliched love story stuffed in.

Envoy here, is at least up front about its intentions. Nobody is going to be surprised or disappointed when it turns into ET with fancy CGI violence.

No. Joburg and the followup film were quality filmmaking.
This is terrible, wholely uninspired work that would only be good in a universe where Spielberg didn't exist. I have no idea how anyone can slog through the cliche enough to find any entertainment.

Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer

Yogi says...

I'm sorry but the first movie is a feat of amazing proportions. It was dark and awesome with cool setting and art direction, filmed like a serious movie and it's soundtrack was AMAZINGLY corny to be put with that dark backdrop. I mean come on Sam Rockwell is in it as a little thug, that's amazing.

I still watch the first one to this day and it was the only movie poster I've ever had on my wall, I loved that movie more than any other as a kid. Multiple viewings over the years haven't disappointed me or spoiled me on it unlike nearly every movie including Return of the Jedi and Indiana Jones Temple of Doom. April quietly monologuing while she draws these awesome pictures of the Turtles, it's incredible what comic book movie has the balls to do that?

The suits make that movie for me though, they work sooo freaking well. It's just the best, everything about it makes me love it.

Two words: Vanilla Ice.

How much worse could it be? Well, okay, the first one was alright. It would be cool if they went further back to their roots and they were more like real teenagers instead of a middle-aged focus group's opinion of what adolescents associate with being a teenager. Hint: it's beer, not pizza.

edit: Full disclosure, when I was 12, I waited in line for an hour to get tickets when the first TMNT movie opened.

Girls Are Assholes

You got the corny part right. Sorry you were so butt-hurt by @Lawdeedaw's and my opinions of the video you felt the need to downvote both of us.

Here I thought it was just a corny joke about how attractive people get preferential treatment. Thanks to @SDGundamX and @Lawdeedaw for helping me find the humanity-loathing misery cleverly concealed beneath the surface.

Siskel and Ebert defend Star Wars

xxovercastxx says...

Interesting. I dislike Star Wars quite a bit but I still disagree with everything Simon said.

I've always found some of the core elements of Star Wars to be very intriguing, but the execution to be absolutely terrible. All the corniness always yanks me out of the story.

How High Frequency Trading Works

bamdrew says...

This show may not be for you, but I'm concerned that you're too quick to toss it aside based on a misconception...

If you listen again, Radio Lab's style is a throw-back to the 'radio dramas' of old, with sound effects and mood music and fast scripts and narrators leading you through the story. I actually thought it was corny how they played up the 'old-timey radio style' when presenting these non-fiction subjects. Its a scripted show, not a live interview show, so the fast cuts are more analogous to a reporter sharing a set of punchy quotes gathered from experts for a story.

artician said:

NPR announced they had to make 10% cuts. I wish it could be their entire show.

Anyway, sorry for all the hate.
