Sen. Whitehouse debunks climate change myths
One of the results of a warming ocean is melting glaciers and ice caps. That is the addition of fresh water to a salt water system. There is more saltwater than freshwater in the world. One of the properties of salt water is that it conveys heat better than fresh water. The hot-water baseboard heater you use to heat your home would actually be more efficient if it used salt water. We don't use salt water in heaters because salt actually corrodes the metal pipes faster. What does this have to do with climate change? As you dilute the salt water that transfers heat from the warm equatorial waters of the world to the cooler waters in temperate zones, it gets less good at transferring that heat. This change happens very slowly to the perception of short lived mammals like us. In geologic terms, this is how we get to the next ice age.
Mad Max: Fury Road
Ok that looks way fucking cooler than I could've expected. I am SOOOOO gonna enjoy this movie.
What's the story with all the pretty lilly white model virgins? Nymphs being traded as currency in the new post apocalypica?
Doctor Who Series 8 Full Trailer
Did you really just say a villain exists that is cooler than the Weeping Angel? You must be out your god-damned mind!
Seriously though, I am a little worried that Capaldi's Doctor will be a little too serious and gritty as @ChaosEngine said, but it should still be exciting to see where he takes it.
I think the Silence is possibly the coolest DW villain ever.
Even if they copied the look from the Buffy "Hush" villains.
Awesome music: rhymes clips from the best of TV and film.
Lyrics from the YT page:

We accept her, one of us, we accept her, one of us!

Why does everything I whip leave me?
My beautiful chocolate! Candy is dandy,
Fava beans and a nice Chianti,
You can count on Slippery Pete,

Writing checks your body can't cash,
I was elected to lead, not read,
I feel the need - the need for speed,
Watch out for snakes, a good man's loafer,

Crazy Water Slide powered by a Motorbike
These comments are fun. Sounds like a bunch of old men, sitting on the porch yelling at the kids on the street.
"Stop foolin' around with that wood out there. Don't jump your bicycles over that! Get out of the road!!"
Take risks when you're young because the negative consequences are mostly restricted to your own stupid self. Later in life you'll have too many responsibilities and obligations. We've given up a lot in our modern societies. By sanitizing and padding our life experiences, we've lost the connection to the deep animal part of our brain.
There are still places in the world, even first world industrialized nations, where public ritual includes personal risk. Community celebrations that tap into our hidden animal instinct with displays that overwhelm all the senses. This is a powerful way to build a deep sense of tribalism and community, to draw people together into a supportive whole.
Tomorrow many of us will enjoy the July 4th celebrations. Sitting comfortably in our folding chairs with portable BBQs and coolers; behind ropes and guard rails designating a safe area to stand...emergency response vehicles in attendance. We'll enjoy our safe, convenient family activity then curse the traffic on the way home, inside steel boxes with triple air bags. Later on we'll feel slightly unsettled by the neighbor kids setting off bottle rockets around the block. Somewhere else in the world, they'll light a bonfire the size of your house and sing songs while they watch the young people trying to see how far they can walk into the flames. They'll feel the heat, see the light up close, sense danger and ultimately give up a piece of themselves to the crowd and the untamed thing that lies below sensibility.
I'll take the bonfire please.
Big Jump Small Cat
Except the other video doesn't show the cat jump and land in real time.
This one is cooler.

Vermont Becomes The First State To Pass Wolf PAC Resolution
You're not wrong. I'm actually glad I live in Nebraska, it's right wing obviously, but it's not total nutbag like the south. The Republicans in Nebraska did lose their shit in 2008 when the Omaha district voted for Obama and they tried to go back to winner take all. But I think cooler heads prevailed as if trends continue, urban populations will outstrip the rural areas and more traditionally red States start turning blue. At least in a split vote system, even if the state goes blue, the right still retains a minority voice instead of no voice. I had been following wolf pac but hearing about this makes me want to be a member now
You're needed in the less progressive ones.

Drunk off-duty deputy tries to arrest female soldier at bar
"Misuse of police powers" = fired. I think you may not realize what he forfeited. A- A handsomely paying job that obviously he doesn't deserve (Or he needs heavy counseling, which is usually prohibited by an establishment afraid to be sued. Perhaps that is one reason why cops kill themselves so much more than the general population.) B- Retirement benefits that could range into the hundreds of thousands of dollars--or more depending how long he lives. C- The ability to work other like jobs, ie. Solider. He probably has nothing much else to go to as far as employment.
If he was in the private sector this would be a water cooler laugh session more than likely.
I would say that's a fucking lot more than you or I would lose. Plus being arrested. I wonder, should he be anally violated too? He made a dipshit move like 90% of Americans, he just happened to be in a dipshit-free requirement profession.
Well, he's been charged with assault and battery, so I would assume he has a trial coming up. Good to see that he was fired though.
Surely there is also some kind of "misuse of police powers" he could also be charged with?
edit: also I was really hoping this was going to be "Drunk off-duty deputy tries to arrest female soldier at bar".... and then she kicks his sorry ass.
Posting Spoilers in Comments (Sift Talk Post)
@luck760, how about a Spoilers tag for videos as well? Would go along with NSFW, Blocked, Short, Long and the like. Would help avoid watching a video that might spoil something without having to make a note in the description or later in a comment (I haven't been spoiled recently, but have been in the past, and the comment on this video http://videosift.com/video/Breaking-Bad-Creator-Vince-Gilligan-Reveals-his-Next-Project reminded me about the Spoiler flag idea). Video could be flagged Spoiler during creation, and at certain power levels could be flagged in the comments (*spoiler) and perhaps a slightly higher level flagged off (*notspoiler).
I came here looking for Spoiler in the talk to see if it had been suggested, saw this thread. The thread solution is a nice quick one, would perhaps be better if eventually it blocked it off in a comment box that you then could "click to reveal spoiler" that would then expand the box or show what is in it... but that certainly a if time allows sort of thing just to make it cooler.
Hummingbird Hawk Moth
Actually in italian its name is way cooler, we call it Galium Sphinx (Sfinge del Galio), and it's the insect with the best ability to fly of all (in terms of precision I mean).
