The entire arm seems to twist and fails at the joint of the arm on the camera which seems offset from the center of gravity of the weight and camera. Probably the cutting and snapping of a 1/4th steel bolt or something. Camera-weight need to be completely leveled flush (+/- 0.6°) by the awesome weights as a closed object system. I believe correcting this torsion by putting that universal joint center in line with the center of gravity of the camera-weight would prevent that torsion. This would mean that the joint center would have to be somewhere central in that column tube thingy. The over extension and over snapping can only be fixed with built-in stops, I dunno.

The ref apparently called hindrance. The USTA defines hindrance as being hindered in playing the point by an opponent's deliberate act. I think one could reasonably argue that the opponent's scream--mocking or not--was a deliberate act that hindered the other player.

I haven't been following Krugman's column/blog for quite some time, but every once in a while, a piece of his makes its way onto my screen. And his recent takes on HRC/Sanders/Single Payer reminded me that he's a member of the establishment first and foremost.

Many point out how his views of the electability of Sanders vs HRC are eerily similar to what he wrote in '08 about Obama vs HRC. I'd say it even has a touch of Attlee vs Churchill in it. Winston was bound to win the election in '45, beyond any doubt, so Attlee decided not to pretend to be Churchill light, but went all in with socialist ideas. NHS, largescale nationalisation incl the BoE, free secondary education, massive public housing, a focus on full employment, social security, etc -- ten times more radical than anything Sanders even proposed.

I think most of the sound comes from there. It's one of those resonance thingies and the fingering changes the response of the column of air in the flute. Er, or something like that.

@notarobot: Valid point about the playlist link. I'm going to work on moving it on the single video page and also adding it to the front page.

Regarding short/long/nsfw, I just quickly threw that onto the front page today after someone ^up there pointed out they were missing. I first had it next to the "comments" link, but thought everyone would prefer them below the thumbnail because they are hard to spot in the other area and serve to clutter it up more.

To me the uniform space between thumbnails is a non-issue, and in fact something I still don't even recognize casually now that you've pointed it out.

What do the rest of you guys think? Does the placement of long/short/nsfw below the thumbnails on the front page bother you and prefer that they'd be right of the thumbnail next to the "comments" link? Or are you happy with it where it is?

The other reason I put it below the thumbnail is that when you expand the video you can see that info in the meta data column with the length, channels, and tags.

So i appreciate the single columns but compared to the old sift design think it looks a mess.

-edit- also new design has no time length for video or view numbers. Ill always prefer more options and functionality over a slicker/cleaner style. Not saying i think its actually slicker or cleaner but assume thats what the new design is trying to achieve.

Just for you darling folks we've just added the ability to turn multi-column mode off (while logged in). At the top-right of the listing you'll see a little single-column or dual-column icon. Just click that to toggle betwixt the two modes.

So i looked at the new beta on my friends phone and i really liked the design and way it worked. I especially liked that the header had drop down menus like the old vs. Also its all in a single column . No need to scroll to the right to see content. The layout was also pleasing to my eye.

Now for what i see on my computer. The double column thing is a no go for me. I find it so uncomfortable to look at. Just seems messy and clutered to my eye. Also i so much prefer drop down menus where i don't have to move my cursor to the far left to choose something. I like the old school drop down easy peasy.

It reverts to single column at around 1200px or 60% width, but I'm not going to alternate between fullscreen and windowed for a single site.

An option for a single column layout would be rather nice, particularly a minimalistic one.

You only need to reduce the width of your window a bit and it'll go back to single column. (also @radx)

I don't deal well with change. =)

In all seriousness, I do miss the single column. The new format feels like I'm looking at too much at the same time. That's just how I see, I also don't like change. =)
