Colombian drug smugglers, in a plane, dash for the border

deedub81 says...

How about this for the description instead of that horrifically written thing: "The US Military working with Colombian Narco police to track and destroy a small aircraft loaded with cocaine over the Amazon Jungle. The Colombians know that if they reach the boarder 10 miles away, they will be home free."

And as for the tags: Infrared,Military,Colombia,Narco,Narc,Drugs,Cocaine,Airplane,Plane

Jimmy Carter helps in the fight against River Blindness

Fedquip says...

From a Google Search.
http://www.cartercenter.org/health/river_blindness/center.html

In 1987, The Carter Center became involved in the effort to control onchocerciasis by becoming an advocate for the Mectizan® Donation Program launched that year by Merck. In 1996, the official beginning of the Center's River Blindness Program, The Carter Center expanded its role in the coalition to fight the disease by absorbing most of the operations of the River Blindness Foundation, a nongovernmental development organization.

Today, the Carter Center River Blindness Program assists ministries of health in 11 endemic countries to help residents and local health workers institute and sustain Mectizan treatment and health education activities.

In the Americas, the Center is the sponsoring agency for the Onchocerciasis Elimination Program of the Americas (OEPA), the technical and coordinating body of a multinational, multiagency coalition working to end illness and transmission of onchocerciasis in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Venezuela.

The Carter Center is one of the only nongovernmental organizations combating river blindness in both Africa and the Americas. Since its inception, the Carter Center's River Blindness Program has assisted ministries of health in administering more than 100 million treatments of Mectizan.

The key challenge for the River Blindness Program is to continue to reinforce Mectizan distribution networks, educate the communities about the efficacy and safety of the medication, and enlist the support of community leaders.

In fact, the more pure varieties of meth in the U.S. are typically imported from Mexico or homelabbed. Colombia's meth exports tend to be mixed or cut or both. It might be easier to tell them it's China White.

Colombian drug smugglers, in a plane, dash for the border

gorillaman says...

"You'd prefer the deaths of American military soldiers carrying out the orders of their superiors over the deaths of criminals running drugs that contribute to both the United States' and Colombia's citizens' suffering?"

I know I would. Prohibition violates individual sovereignty and is as such a crime against humanity; its supporters and enforcers deserve to die. Simple. Elementary. Plain.

And incidentally, I do mean for that to be taken 100% literally.

Colombian drug smugglers, in a plane, dash for the border

"I hope the columbian drug lords lash out on some ex soviet migs and shoot back."

That is one the stupidest fucking thing I have ever read on this site. You'd prefer the deaths of American military soldiers carrying out the orders of their superiors over the deaths of criminals running drugs that contribute to both the United States' and Colombia's citizens' suffering? People can argue about the efficacy of the "War on Drugs" or the legality or morality of shooting down these runners, I'm cool with that, but you....you're just mindless me-too-ism that didn't even have the brains to parrot back exactly what everybody else said. I...I'm honestly floored by your severe lack of critical thought and inability to grasp the concepts of basic morals.

Deathcow, I believe the military was tailing the runners because they were trying to give the runners time to turn around and give up.

I disagree with the comedy tag on this one. The film is a serious documentary. It's not about a funny subject. We have the most expensive health care in the world, along with the highest infant mortality rate, and the second lowest life expectancy for any nation which isn't in the third world.

Lets take a look at the World Health organization's ranking of the worlds national health systems. Don't look for the USA in the first 3 rows. We are at #37. Dominica and Costa Rica have better health systems. Yep we are getting the best that capitalism can provide for the money we spend, we are only just above Slovenia, Cuba, and Brunei.

Top 10: France, Italy, San Marino, Andorra, Malta, Singapore, Spain, Oman, Austria, Japan
11-20: Norway, Portugal, Monaco, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland
21-30: Belgium, Colombia, Sweden, Cyprus, Germany, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Morocco, Canada, Finland,
31-40: Australia, Chile, Denmark, Dominica, Costa Rica, United States of America, Slovenia, Cuba, Brunei

While you might say it could be worse, I would say we could be an even bigger joke. This clip doesn't deserve a comedy tag, America's health system does. This clip is showing people thanking god, that Michael Moore had the balls to point it out. Understanding there is a serious problem is the first step towards fixing it.

Rescued Lion Hugs His New Best Friend

deputydog says...

From Neatorama..

People in Cali, Colombia, are shocked to see the bond between a large
African lion and a woman who saved it from abuse, involving long,
affectionate kisses and hugs between the pair.

Ana Julia Torres, who runs the Villa Lorena animal shelter in Cali, fed
and nursed Jupiter the African lion back to health years ago after it
was found abused and emaciated in a traveling circus. "It is
amazing to see an animal like that be so sweet and affectionate," said
Torres. "This hug is the most sincere one that I have received in my
life."

how cocaine is made

thecosmicshame says...

thats the sick shit. i'm in ecuador right now and life is really like that in some places...producing something for $800 bucks a kilo is really irresistible to poor communities. it seems to me that the $ spent on the war on drugs would be better spent working on sustainable development programs for colombia, peru, etc...
