Do you consider the film Die Hard a Christmas movie? (User Poll by eric3579)

Or CoD4 Winter Crash...

Not really, no. A Christmas movie to me has Christmas as an essential part of the plot, not just a movie that is regularly showing on Christmas.

That said, this reminds me of the Christmas version of Castle Wolfenstein 3D...

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

I am continually impressed this series keeps grinding on. How many sequels have there been since CoD4? I've lost count.

@Payback

Oh I have no doubt it will be just as conservative as every other CoD since. I'm curious if those hover bikes actually get into multiplayer, but I doubt it. I haven't bought a CoD since CoD4 and have no plans to.

There's certainly an expectation that they'll try something new, because with Titanfall's mech combat, the CoD model looks very stale.

But just seeing the graphics and realising they still haven't built a new engine is probably the best indicator that they'll keep riding the money train to gravy town.

Got to play during the closed and open betas. Looks really good. Plays nice if you balance the graphics correctly. A couple of the people at Respawn frequent a CoD4 server I help run and there's a couple "tags" of graffiti "easter eggs" about our little server. Hope they make millions. Great guys.

HUGE black ops glitch (Game Ruining)

Payback says...

Well, that was a lame attempt at sarcasm. Here I thought it would be something REALLY important, like inverted graffiti. That would be bad. That would pull you out of the game EVERY time. You'd be playing along, minding, minding your own business then

WHAM!!! You see "ǝɹǝɥ znʍ ɹǝɥɔlǝℲ"

FUCK! Back to CoD4...

.50 Cal Sniper vs Watermelon (OMFG Edition)

sixshot says...

I'm also wondering how this can be real because the 50cal rounds are very rarely used in rifles. Though I may be incorrect in this sense, I have never seen an old-fashion-designed and styled 50cal bolt-action rifle like the one this guy has. There are 2 50 cal sniper rifles that I know of... the Barrett M82A1 rifle is one I learned of some time ago to be an anti-device rifle, used for picking off devices from long range. The other is popularized by various video games like BF2, CoD4, MW2, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 -- the M95.

To add also into the doubting mix is the fact that a youngster like him would be holding a weapon that can FIRE a 50cal round. I won't be surprised by people holding something that can fire NATO rounds. But a rifle that fires a 50cal? Sorry, my expectations for those capable of firing a 50cal round from a rifle is someone in uniform and one who has had years of marksman training.

Rage gameplay demo (e3 2010)

Friesian says...

I got about 40 seconds in and noticed that Tim Willits said that they've taken this genre to the next level with the addition of vehicle combat! If only I could have had vehicle combat in Half Life 2, oh no, I mean CoD4:MW2, no, hang on, I mean Far Cry 2, or was it Crysis, DAMMIT, it was Borderlands, I'm sure of it!!...

But, at least they have all new characters, I mean, I would have hated it if they used the same characters as they did in... well... 'RAGE 0: The Prequel' I guess.

Having said that, it does look pretty!

Well, the rifles themselves are great, but having that red dot sight makes a WORLD of difference lol.

Not really, I remember from CoD4 you started with an M16 and that along with the second unlock the AK47 were basically the best two assault rifles in the game. Probably would be the same with MW2. Plus they've got death streaks this time around too, so even if you suck you can feel like a winner

But yeah, don't buy this game unless you want to support IW/Activision in making removing dedicated servers the status quo for the industry, not that it matters with how well it's sold already <_<
The sad thing is even if it had sold badly on PC, odds are they would have just blamed piracy for causing that anyway and argued that as a good reason to centralise it even more next time around. You just can't win nowadays ...

^JAPR:
I might just do that, the single player looks amazingly fun. It's really hard to start out on the online multiplayer, because everybody has better weapons and perks than you, making it really hard to play well at first, since you spend more time dying than anything else.

A little birdy told me that pirating to play the SP is good idea
But yeah, lack of dedicated servers killed any interest in buying it for me too. Not to mention the first wasn't that great anyway, weapons balance was fucked because they modelled it on real weapons, there were waaaay too many annoying power ups, and the gameplay was tipped towards whoever sprays in the general vicinity wins as opposed to precise aiming. By the sounds of it the second one is worse in every respect so no thanks!

np, don't let his silliness bring you down lol. i haven't played the game yet (due to not being willing to buy it for pc until they let us have dedicated servers, even if that's never), but I heard about it, so I found the vid hugely entertaining. I'll promote until it makes it like it deserves.

I suppose he doesn't go into enough detail to cover the absolutely hemorrhaging catastrophic PC-multiplayer failure of this game.
It could have been the next big online "scene" thing, with big money involved. cod4 was kept alive in the online scene for a long time thanks to people modding the game and all the customisation really kept the game popular for a long time. It basically kept IW afloat, kept them in business, and allowed them to make mw2.
IW, in their infinite wisdom, thought that customisation and modding was theft and piracy. They decided that they could SELL people these updates rather than let the community make content for itself. As such, they removed dedicated servers - you play on a P2P system not too far off from the xbox/console style where your ping is always very high as you connect to another person's computer. You have to use the matching system which basically matches you with the lowest ping server in the style you request that it can find. This ensures heavy lag for a lot of people, moderate lag (over 100ping) as an average, and virtually unplayable for a few. When the map changes, they have a system of "migrating" you which basically tries to keep your experience uninterrupted but mostly disconnects you. One of the IW guys actually was quoted "I've been playing mostly with 100ms and that's just fine!"
They disallowed any kind of modding or customisation, instead opting to bring out DLC for the PC. This includes not allowing any kind of demo recording and there's no developer console.
Because of the P2P system, you are limited to a very small number of people playing in a server, meaning large battles aren't possible anymore because a person's pc (which is hosting the game live) just isn't usually capable of handling so many connections.
There's a shed load more. http://www.modernwarfail2.com/about/ . They really screwed up and shat all over the PC fans which basically kept the franchise alive and allowed IW to make a lot of money with this game. They did a direct port from console to PC not only because it was easy, but also because it allowed them to control the game rather than the community. Whilst console users are used to all the above complaints and have chastised PC users for their pickyness, PC users are used to much better things and the PC multiplayer of this game is abhorrent to them.
I think some people have made dedicated servers available by hacking the game, not sure though. All of this was true as of release date

the whole level system would make the game incopatable for proper dedocated server play , i think its fine as a console game , but they should have maby worked on the game for another 7 months doing a proper pc version esentauly as separate product.

basicly dice have got it right , look at the dice console games v the dice pc games (bf2,bf moder combat , bad company ) they do the same game but redesign aspects of it for each platform.

also the single player is utter shite its utterly pointless to play , its pretty much the same as the first one stupid bugs and bad level design + when they do good stuff they never capitalise on it I don't think infinity ward have muh of an idea about single player games design. but it seems that the majorty of people dont give a shit its like holywood films people just want to see shit blow up they don't care about anything evan slightly engaging on another level. whats more annoying is the game takes itself seriously if it took the piss out of itself to some exstent but its like infinity ward think its a war simulater.

all in all its a really good multi player console shooter game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Hacked Since Day 1

Throbbin says...

So that's what a wallhack looks like.

I always stick to the same 2 or 3 servers for COD4, all with strict Punkbuster and immediate IP ban for cheaters, so I never really saw what it looked like. It's so maddening! AAARRGGGHHH!

Great sift. Maybe I'll pick it up in a month when some of the kinks have been ironed out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Launch Trailer

Jinx says...

Bullets, explosions and Hip Hop. Style?

If the single player is good I might go for it, but CoD4's Multiplayer was a spamfest of insta-death nades and bullshit killstreak call-ins. MW2 looks like more of the same.
