Interesting idea. Work hard and you'll get everything you deserve......you hear people say that a lot. But when you look closely, the people who have money don't work very hard at all in comparison to people who are likely just as intelligent if not more so than they. There's no value in producing anymore.

Had a guy in the area who owns a lot of land, and while not hugely wealthy is probably wealthy enough for himself and his kids to live off of his holdings with employees taking care of it. He told my dad that he's never going to make money digging ditches (my dad doesn't dig ditches, but it was his way of saying manual labor), and that he should lift his head from his work and do what the wealthy people do.

Can you tell what the wealthy people do? I only see them swinging political opinion in their favor and telling people to work harder for them (by proxy of course).

There's no value in producing. Even though you know there should be immense value in producing, there just isn't as much as there should be....they value the container, billboards, markup percentages than the actual item they are selling to people. The "perception" of the product is more important than the product.

So if the perception is valuable, then people who can sell nothing succeed. That's my take on it at least.......and it seems backwards to me. People who produce nothing, but hold wealth control the system. While people who produce and hold little or no wealth are trapped in the spider web the wealthy have spun. The harder you work, the more stuck you become until they come along and cocoon you up and drain you dry.

@blankfist, well, we need to start trying some new systems on for size, first and foremost, and that's not going to happen as long as people like you, Kubric, and the ultra rich and the trans-national finance institutions that they own are more than willing to strangle those new systems like babes in the cradle.

I don't want to hear any malarkey about "creating jobs" when that is the last thing that rich people or capitalists want to do. You weren't going to hire people to create jobs, you were going to hire people to do your work for you and make you richer.

Where capitalism does create jobs is in the sweatshops of the hell holes that dot the Pacific rim of Asia.

You've retreated into this cocoon of idealism that has completely skewed your view of reality. You've gone so far as to resurrect antiquated definitions of political and social movements and rebrand them to suit this idealistic, and very unrealistic, view of the world.

You've gone so far as to call yourself a liberal and to accuse GW Bush of being a leftist.

That is a disconnect with reality that I think you would do well to reevaluate.

I can't give you a better system than capitalism, but that does not mean that one does not exist, that one can not be found, established, perfected. Things are better for the people of Venezuela, Brazil, and Bolivia since they've moved to a more socialistic system. Few could argue otherwise.

There is a better way. It's out there, waiting to be born.

It wasn't as easy as I made it look, pinpointing the greatest underground rap videos (often foregoing the luxury of thumbnails), locating full episodes and movies (the internet is public domain, so far as I'm concerned), posting political videos that I disagreed with but refused to ignore (how many did I take from you, qm and billo?), and of course, the controversy. No, it wasn't easy but I, "endeavored to persevere."
I discovered VideoSift simply as way to post videos on myspace, interestingly enough. What I found, though, was a galaxy of videos, which have entertained, educated, appalled, and bored the fuck out of me through the year or so since I've discovered this joint. I've even turned some friends onto it, too, but most are still in their lurking-cocoons.
Yes, I've been controversial in the past, it's in my blood, you see? But I think the community, as a whole, is able to realize that I'm more of a civil-siftdisobedient than an outright siftarchist. I'm delighted to earn this meaningless achievement and, finally, receive the respect diamonds are usually entitled too.
