I'm reading a few stories from prominent bloggers who were initially dismissive of the iPad but have now embraced it.

Say what you will about the closed nature of the OS, lack of ports (people said the same when Apple removed the floppy) or camera - Apple has once again changed the paradigm of how we use computers.

And for all the squealing about Jobs' choke-hold on the platform - it's good to remember that Apple has empowered a whole generation of "little guy" developers to make good money from the app ecosystem - wresting power from the established game behemoths like EA. Good luck making a little game on other platforms - AND actually making dosh from it. The same kind of disruption-- upsetting the applecart of the big publishing companies-- appears to be in the works for self-published authors.

I wish the wrester in the brown shirt would have put a choke-hold on the ignoramus.

That's really the only way people like that learn anything.

I get as angry as the next guy at cops abuse of power but if the guy is being arrested and he resists what else is the cops going to do? Hell people get put in choke holds all the time, they drop, you let go, they're fine.

So the next question is, if you don't let him swallow the drugs and you don't want this cop to try and arrest him, what's left? Give him a ticket and let the meth-ed out drug addict get back in his car and on his way. Cause I guarantee you if he gets pulled over, let go, then kills someone on his way home everyone would be just as up in arms with the cop for having pulled the guy over and not doing something.

You didn't quote my whole statement, I said " And the cop says "your under arrest", then he lets the EMT go, thats not how its supposed to work. If your under arrest, then thats it, theres no unarresting"
I realize that cops will do anything they want regardless of the law, and then let the lawyers work it out later. But when he unnarested him , He is admitting it was a bad arrest and/or he learned new facts and decided he had made a bad arrest. Watching the video , I don't see the officer learning any new facts, He is just backing down from a bad rage induced arrest.Police shouldnt arrest someone and grab them by the throat in an illegal choke hold and then pretend it did't happen.
Thats not the way its supposed to work!!

Maskiki, Thats complete bullshit!In some states the arresting officers supervisor would be needed to "unarrest" somebody.
Laws vary from state to state.

Interfering with an EMT who is performing patient care is a felony crime, even for cops. The EMT was reciting the law to the officers, and that made them more mad.
These cops are clearly in a rage. Checkout that choke hold, is that one that is taught at the academy? And the cop says "your under arrest", then he lets the EMT go, thats not how its supposed to work. If your under arrest, then thats it, theres no unarresting.
Also, the police never ask about the patient... they dont care! They are mad with rage thinking that the ambulance driver disrespected them by not getting out of their way.
Fire those cops before they kill somebody, if they havent already.

This guy should be out of a job, but that was in no way a choke hold.

Yeah.. honestly, if the guy deserved being tossed down in a choke hold like that (helluva move by the way, especially to a guy with his hands in his pockets) it should have been done at the time of the offense, not when he was walking away.

I don't think you're going to find too many people defend the cop in this situation, regardless of your opinions of law enforcement in general.

There is no way this officer hasn't had issues with other people in the past if this is his first reaction to even the mildest of opposition.

Hosni Mubarak promised light steps towards democracy back when Bush was about bringing freedom and shit to the Middle East.

But Hosni Mubarak effectively convinced the US that democracy will bring the wrong kind of democracy, like the election of Hamas in Palestine. Never mind that he is basically keeping a choke hold and only pushing more people into extremism, the American administration was convinced.

Furthering the continued rule of despotic and oppressive dictatorial regimes in the Middle East. Hosni Mubarak is currently breeding his son for continued rule.

Is that a flying choke hold of some sort at the end? Whatever it was, it was awesome.

Every time you see a weapon that is non-lethal you should question it. Non-lethal weapons aren't used in war, they're used internally so you don't kill your own proles.

It's nice to see a friendly officer but it may be a new strategy... Preaching at a group of people uninterupted for an extended period of time would take the fight out of them. It would also make the police look good.

You forgot one category qm: people at the airports who don't understand english.

Tasers are just another tool, but as with any tool it is easier to be lazy and just taser someone instead of using de-escalation techniques. But again, in the cases where force is actually needed to subdue someone, it is much better than having to shoot them.

It just comes down to training. We need to pay officers more and make it so they have a large influx of cadets so it isn't a big issue to kick off an officer who truly is not fit for the job or abuses their power.
