I completely understand what you are saying with this berticus which is why i'm suggesting a debate on the acceptability of the word and how it is used. The reason I equated cheese with gay is because here in Britain especially, cheesy things are seen as camp, if you are familar with that term. I really don't know many gay people who wouldn't agree with me on that. It's just part of the culture. But what I really want to do, because I think it's important that people define lines clearly is bring about a discussion on the whole subject. What people think of how it is used now, how we want to tag things, whatever. You brought it up ya know and I can understand why you've had enough. But you shouldn't have to have had enough. I'm thinking we can all find a way of managing it if we debate it. So yeah

Berticus, i'm sorry, i've not been able to find any posts here where you've clearly outlined how you want the gay channel to go. What exactly should it be for, just homosexual individuals? That would make the channel incredibly narrow. Every group of people have things we stereotypically associate with them, that just seems to be how things go. As the person here who is bringing this to everyones attention (and rightly so if it's causing you or others aggravation) then I think it would really help for you to make it clear what you would like from it. And us. I took the cheesefest gay tag off, because you were unhappy with it, because I respect what you have to say, but not necessarily because I agreed with it. And at the time of that I suggested to DFT that we discuss this whole gay thing, as it comes up time and time again for various reasons. It's important to me on a personal level that homophobia is just as unacceptable as racism or sexism, and i'd really like to have a proper debate on where people think the lines are crossed and why. God forbid gay ends up becoming 'the G word'. What do you reckon?

It's not the case. It looks like it's actually the minus ("-") symbol which is directing the search engine to only find results which do not have the word "total" in them.

Is advanced search fucked up by capitalisation? would it help if it stored only uncapsed to search from (or retrieved as that when searching) and masked a string to lowercase when comparing?
