Pedestrian Bounces Off Car Windshield, Sticks the Landing!

CreamK says...

The most important thing the pedestrian did was the jump. They did a test on some car show (can't remember what it was, could be mythbusters?) that if you jump straight up, the impact is much safer. It's to do with the friction of your feet making the impact happen horizontally, ie the car pushes you forward. Where as just lifting both feet off the ground, it becomes a tumbling motion and lot less inertia is transferred, ie you stay in the same place. Also if both feet are on the ground you have the awful possibility of being dragged under the car.

Lamborghini Show Off Fail

Ryjkyj says...

That hurts.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love the Gallardo. It's one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen. And it's a crappy Lambo that's been redesigned by German engineers, so like they put it on Top Gear: "It's like a Lamborghini, but the air-conditioning works."

However, I love the fact that it's properly pronounced: "gay-ardo." I just picture all these macho dicks, driving around in their yellow sports car, showing off, yet trying desperately to ignore the fact that when they were at the dealership, everyone kept saying how great they would look, "In your new 'Gay-ardo!' That 'Gay-ardo' looks great on you! It's like the 'Gay-ardo' was made for you!"

In fact, I'd bet that at dealerships here in America, they're probably forbidden from using the proper pronunciation. Can't you just picture it? "I know guys, but if we pronounce it that way, we're never going to attract the macho-dickhead customers that keep us in business..."

Some guys will argue to the death about the proper pronunciation of "Jaguar", but there seems to be an unspoken agreement among most Lambo fans that a Gallardo is a "Gall-ardo".

I would've given anything if they drove by the accident in the video and said: "Man, that's a shame, it's such a beautiful 'Gay-ardo'." Of course, for all I know, the guy is comfortable in his sexuality, but I doubt it.

He is ambitious, yes, and willing to do what he needs to do to feed that monster. But his mother loves him. He isn't just that.

Cheaply-bought platitudes, BB. Don't fall for it. Jay's still a dickhead.

Will Smith- Summer time Feat. Dj Jazzy Jeff ( 4:04)

BoneRemake says...

summer, summer, summertime

time to sit back and unwind

Verse One: Fresh Prince

Here it is the groove slightly transformed

just a bit of a break from the norm

just a little somethin' to break the monotony

of all that hardcore dance that has gotten to be

a little bit out of control it's cool to dance

but what about the groove that soothes that moves romance

give me a soft subtle mix

and if ain't broke then don't try to fix it

and think of the summers of the past

adjust the base and let the alpine blast

pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme

and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is summertime

Chorus

Verse Two: Fresh Prince

school is out and it's a sort of a buzz

a back then I didn't really know what it was

but now I see what have of this

the way that people respond to summer madness

the weather is hot and girls are dressing less

and checking out the fellas to tell 'em who's best

riding around in your jeep or your benzos

or in your Nissan sitting on lorenzos

back in Philly we be out in the park

a place called the plateau is where everybody goes

guys out hunting and girls doing likewise

honking at the honey in front of you with the light eyes

she turn around to see what you beeping at

it's like the summers a natural afradesiac

and with a pen and pad I compose this rhyme

to hit you and get you equipped for the summer time

Chorus

Verse Three: Fresh Prince

it's late in the day and I ain't been on the court yet

hustle to the mall to get me a short set

yeah I got on sneaks but I need a new pair

cause basketball courts in the summer got girls there

the temperature's about 88

hop in the water plug just for old times sake

break to ya crib change your clothes once more

cause you're invited to a barbeque that's starting at 4

sitting with your friends cause y'all remincise

about the days growing up and the first person you kiss

and as I think back makes me wonder how

the smell from a grill could spark up nostalgia

all the kids playing out front

little boys messin round with the girls playing double-dutch

while the DJ's spinning a tune as the old folks dance at your family reunion

then six o'clock rolls around

you just finished wiping your car down

it's time to cruise so you head to the summertime hangout

it looks like a car show

everybody come lookin real fine

fresh from the barber shop or fly from the beauty salon

every moment frontin and maxin

chillin in the car they spent all day waxin

leanin to the side but you can't speed through

Two miles an hour so everybody sees you

there's an air of love and of happiness

and this is the Fresh Prince's new defintion of summer madness

Woman Viciously Assaults Police Officer

Shepppard says...

@coolhund

You're damn right i'll judge them objectively. They do a lot of things I don't agree with, however, the way they handle their jobs is not one of them.

Lets go to another cop then, a Super-intendant. I was just downtown at the "Show n' Shine", essentially a giant out-door old car show that takes place on king street (basically, our downtown strip).

There was a super-intendent there, can't remember his name, standing outside a TCBY, talking to people as the walked by, answering questions, being silly.

This man, is a super-intendant. That means, he's roughly 2 ranks down from chief of police, that's a lot of power. He was not abusing his power, he was actually communicating with the public, there were close to, my guess is 15-20,000 people all crammed along this one street. Not one incident of police brutality.. even though there was a motorcycle patrolling around the perimeter, and pairs of cops walking up and down along the street/sidewalk.

How bout the other 20+ people that volunteered for the "Caught in the Act" shows? After the show, the cast would line up (in full dress) in the lobby and shake hands with people that were leaving the theater. One of the cops noticed a little girl who was hungry, but the concession stand was closed. So he went into the dressing room in the back, came back out and gave her his donut (cliché that he had a donut, I know, but it's true.)

Power doesn't corrupt those that have a high enough moral standing to remain uncorrupted. The only time power corrupts is when you let it, and a lot of people don't let it.

Breaking: Oklahoma Highway Patrolman Fights with EMT 5/28/09

Dranzerk says...

>> ^rychan:

I love the internet, how everyone knows everything about a situation and knows everything about the video.
Especially when you get the "facts" from the victim.

And the video.
And the accounts of the woman being transported to the hospital.
And the accounts of her family members.
And the uninvolved witness accounts (nearby pedestrians).

1. The video is shot by the victim(s).
2. The woman was in the ambulance, hence victim.
3 The family that was not at the scene, so unreliable.
4. witnesses that don't know the situation as to why they got pulled over to begin with, also known as unreliable witnesses.

It obviously is being played out more than it is, because if it was a real emergency the EMT would of not even stopped and continued to the hospital like they normally do. For the guy to say "I thought he had someone that needed medical attention" in the police car shows it was not as bad as the EMT says the person it the ambulance was.

Jon Stewart is angry at Rick Santelli and CNBC

campionidelmondo says...

I don't remember saying that you're sister is responsible for losing her 401k. The consequences of the current financial crisis are obviously gonna affect people who haven't done anything wrong, I just assumed that was common knowledge.

Ok, enough "catchphrases", how about a statistic?

"The most recent Federal Reserve study showed that 43% of U.S. families spent more than they earned. On average, Americans spend $1.22 for each dollar they earn."

If you don't see how that's gonna come back to bite you in the ass then you're beyond saving, sorry. That statistic is probably a little dated, but I bet it has only gotten worse.

I don't doubt that there are smart americans on this site. I'm not saying that the average American is an idiot. I know quite alot of Americans personally, and very few of them are idiots. What I am saying is that in light of this crisis, people should examine the lifestyle they're living and the choices they're making. For 43% of Americans this is something that has to be done. However, I'm not making any excuses for the CEOs or politicians, I'm just saying that the Average Joe isn't neccessarily innocent either.

>> ^volumptuous:
Obviously if you think the American public is who's to blame for the ponzi schemes, 30-to-1 Hedge's and sub-prime CF, you know nothing about economics or Wall Street regulation.
How is it my sister's fault that she and her husband just lost their entire 401ks? Is it because of her bigscreen (10 yr old, 22") TV, or her fancy (2 bdrm falling apart) House? It must be because she's an idiot right? It's definitely not because of that "scary corporation" called GM who they've worked for the last 20+ years.
Your catch phrases of "big screen TVs" and "two cars" shows you have little grasp of what has happened and what's been happening. Then you toss on the go-to of how Americans are stupid. Nice one.
It seems the one who's getting all of his information from the teevee is you.
And I have yet to see anyone say John Stewart should run for president. This straw man is so transparent it makes my head spin.

And btw: I'm sure most of the sifter-yanks here are very smart people. The one's that I've personally met certainly are. So you're really talking to the wrong crew.

lpgas: I wasn't trying to rant on TDS or Jon Steward. He's very good at what he does. I wasn't saying that people who enjoy TDS are idiots. I've enjoyed it for many years and even though I can't really watch it on a daily basis or anything close to that, I still enjoy watching the occasional episode. The problem is that people start thinking things like "Oh that Jon Steward should run for President" that makes me want to slam my head into the wall. If you turn to Jon Steward for political leadership you must be really fucking lost.
volumptuous: No you don't solely own the crisis as americans, but you own a big fucking chunk of it. I have yet to see anybody own up to that responsibility though. It's all too easy to put all the blame on the big scary cooperations, "those fatcats in Washington". Instead, people in the US should look at the lifestyle they've been living. A lifestyle that's waaaaaay over their budgets. They've been living on money they don't have, continuously borrowing more and more. Hey, everybody should own a house, two cars, a big fucking screen TV right? Let's worry about the consequences tomorrow. Well, tomorrow's here and it ain't looking pretty.
Also, don't change what I've said and then put it in quotation marks, that's lame...
