Taking Personal Responsibility for Your Health

eric3579 says...

Everything in Moderation.

Meat is fine health wise in moderation. A candy bar is fine health wise in moderation. A gin and tonic is fine health wise in moderation. Going out in the sun is fine health wise in moderation. What exactly is a moderate amount of these things is more the question i believe when it comes to ones health.

The problem i find is when I indulge in salt, sugar and fat, it becomes a slippery slope as i tend to crave them. When i went full on plant based diet i cut all those things out it was quite enjoyable without them. When i had those things reintroduced into my diet it all went out the window But that was just me. I'm no good at moderation.

Penn Jillette on Atheism and Islamaphobia

poolcleaner says...

BULLSHIT. *waits for the jesus bomb* Oh, it was bullshit. Funny. Freaking Penn, you dick. lol!!!

Anyway, his first statement aside, isn't this how legit atheists have always thought? And by that I mean, atheists who practice what they preach and love other humans, as every mammal should. Shitting on belief systems but NEVER NEVER hating the actual person? That's how I function.

I always imagined it was simply the projections of the insecure haters of atheists that projected this perception that we hate Muslims. I never understood how atheism could mean anything other than love. That's why I became an atheist in the frickin' first place, because I realized God isn't loving if he could send people to hell. And from there it simply followed logically towards the absence of God.

I have friends from Malaysia and Iran who clearly CLEARLY have Islamic backgrounds -- but they're badass Americans and beyond that they're human goddamnit -- and I love them as much as I love my Jewish, Atheist, and Christian friends. I can't say that they aren't Muslim, because I don't want to assume anything and I don't want them to be in trouble if they aren't. But yeah, I love all my friends.

And you know what, I love bobknight and that piss flavoured cotton candy Trump thing, even though they both project hate onto us for being liberal. Honestly, I love you bob, and we aren't terrorists and neither is every Muslim. I love you -- even though you support America's terrorists, the police. And I love the police, despite my dislike of SOME (well, maybe MOST) of their views about the world. <3

True, the constitution has some screwed up parts. However, there is a process in place to make or change amendments. If the bulk of the United States decides to repeal the 2nd Amendment, using the methods in place to do so, so be it. I'd give my guns up in that case. If the legislature decides to pass an unconstitutional law as a knee jerk reaction to a terrorist act, then they aren't getting them. The problem with unconstitutional laws, by the way, is that SCOTUS can always wink at the bill of rights and say that it is constitutional. I don't care for that, but again, it is a legal interpretation of the document if they do it. I'd give up my guns if that happened.

I don't even really have an issue if we go back to the assault weapon ban of the 90's. I get that we can make some changes and cut down on these incidents. I'm just extremely leery of package deals like lets ban everyone who ends up on a list from having weapons based on a government decision. You give someone due process to avoid being on the list, like we do to people accused of felonies before they are convicted, no problem. But as it stands, our President is just tossing an idea out there that absolutely violates multiple rights and people are eating it up like it was candy.

What absolute fucking bullshit!

I'm so sick of this child like interpretation of the constitution.

Oh slippery slope... same document used to give people the RIGHT to own other humans...

Oh slipper slope... the RIGHT to vote is clearly intended for white men and land owners only.

etc... etc... seems like we're up to like 27 HEINOUS infringements on YOUR rights by now.!

Its absolutely utterly fucking ridiculous. The entire country is held hostage from even discussing the issue. The government isn't even allowed to collect data.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/04/us/gun-violence-graphics/

We are the ONLY ones doing this at anywhere even close to this rate. And we can't even discuss potential solutions rationally without it being turned into some paranoid hypothetical tyrannical enslavement scenario.

Its fucking pathetic. So yeah... your right lets not even make a fucking attempt at solving our issues.

CNN anchor reads Survivor's Statement on air

bareboards2 says...

I have also linked this in the description, so people don't have to read the comments to find this link:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/6/6/1534962/-The-daunting-and-powerful-statement-a-Stanford-victim-reads-to-her-rapist-in-court-goes-viral

Here is part of the full statement that was excised for time -- part of where she responds to the defendant's statement, point by point:

You said, Being drunk I just couldn’t make the best decisions and neither could she.

Alcohol is not an excuse. Is it a factor? Yes. But alcohol was not the one who stripped me, fingered me, had my head dragging against the ground, with me almost fully naked. Having too much to drink was an amateur mistake that I admit to, but it is not criminal. Everyone in this room has had a night where they have regretted drinking too much, or knows someone close to them who has had a night where they have regretted drinking too much. Regretting drinking is not the same as regretting sexual assault. We were both drunk, the difference is I did not take off your pants and underwear, touch you inappropriately, and run away. That’s the difference.

You said, If I wanted to get to know her, I should have asked for her number, rather than asking her to go back to my room.

I’m not mad because you didn’t ask for my number. Even if you did know me, I would not want be in this situation. My own boyfriend knows me, but if he asked to finger me behind a dumpster, I would slap him. No girl wants to be in this situation. Nobody. I don’t care if you know their phone number or not.

You said, I stupidly thought it was okay for me to do what everyone around me was doing, which was drinking. I was wrong.

Again, you were not wrong for drinking. Everyone around you was not sexually assaulting me. You were wrong for doing what nobody else was doing, which was pushing your erect dick in your pants against my naked, defenseless body concealed in a dark area, where partygoers could no longer see or protect me, and own my sister could not find me. Sipping fireball is not your crime. Peeling off and discarding my underwear like a candy wrapper to insert your finger into my body, is where you went wrong. Why am I still explaining this.

Kevin Spacey is The Rainforest

Phreezdryd says...

Pollute the water and then sell the clean stuff in bottles. Why not the air we breath as well? In Spaceballs (1987) they stole other planets air, and enjoyed a nice can of Perri-air. A company called Vitality Air sells cans of Canadian air to China. Next we'll be taking the Coke vs. Pepsi air challenge. Which brand has that real healthy air flavor? Now comes in bacon, cotton candy and Grandma's house scents.

Suicide Squad - Official Trailer 1

jmd says...

#1 ok, i thought it was supposed to be a tv series, not a movie.

#2 forming a team of villains to do a job that apparently no heros can do... what the fark.. that is the oldest, lamest, plot in the book.

#3 despite what looks to be a "villains in the early days" origin, seems like very little origin story going on and more like a quick romp through a city to do..something.

#4 There seems to be a lot of special FX going on for the sake of eye candy, almost in a Joel Schumacher way.

#5 and why queen?

I like the superman movies, I am sooo giving superman vs batman a chance, but this I have serious doubts about. Although it mainly has to do with joker looking like the cover boy for INK magazine.

Top 10 Products Banned on Amazon

Mordhaus says...

Never understood the pulling of buckyballs. It shouldn't be a product's fault if it specifically warns in every possible method that children shouldn't be allowed to touch the them. It's like the pods issue going on now with detergent, kids are eating them because they look like candy. I say, blame the fucking parents for putting them in the reach of kids and for not teaching their children that they should ask before snacking on shit they don't know about.
