The camper van we rented in Brisbane to drive to Darwin had a bull bar and a downward deflecting heavy screen just along the bottom of the windshield. We wondered why until we got to the other side of Longreach and saw the aftermath of a big red kangaroo going through the windshield of a panel van, still alive and kicking - kicking enough in its panic to kill the driver as it thrashed about trying to get away from it's predicament. The down angled heavy screen is to 'deflect' the road vermin down away from the cab and windshield. Not as much fun as hitting a moose, but fun nontheless.

The problem wasn't the engine. It seemed strong enough to move the load up the hill. The tilt put the centre of balance nearly under the drive wheels, which caused the engine's power to lift the front end of up rather than drive it forward. The engine was both holding the truck in place on the hill and lifting the front end. If the engine had been defeated, it wouldn't have been able to lift the cab.

So going in reverse might have done it (if it didn't happen to make the ratio too high).

Putting some of those branches on the front bumper to shift the weight would have done it for sure.

To be fair I get annoyed by the quality of English in London and I live here. Half the time I can't communicate with my cab driver. I'm not a huge fan of talking to anyone on the phone as a result.

You have no idea what was going on in the semi's cab. We only know he was drunk after the fact. Guy could have had a seizure or stroke, been fighting a hijacker, or simply had multiple, innocent people as passengers. The only reason you can condemn him for bad judgement is because you, the viewer, knew the verdict before you even clicked the link.

Howdy... the rear triple axel unit is often referred to as a "jeep". It is steerable (have a look at the two opposed hydraulic cylinders above the jeep frame and below the load... you can see the sun glint off the left cylinder at 0:07). The control lines for the jeep are running forward to the cab through the lines which are bundled just ahead of the 3 boomers that are holding down the load, and riding up on top of the beam. In the final 3 or 4 seconds of the video, you can see the black sheathed control lines bouncing up and down, still attached back to the jeep which is out of frame on the RHS. The mistake here is that the jeep wasn't controlled properly during the turn (it's one or sometimes two buttons in the cab, often attached to or near the gear shift for single finger operation); during the turn the jeep is turned to make a wide turn and stay in lane, and once the turn is made, the jeep should be brought back to a 0° (straight running) position, but it looks like it was left a few degrees right and thus hit the concrete guardrail. 10-4.

I seem to recall awhile back that Muslim cab drivers were told they couldn't refuse a fare at the airport here in Minnesota just because someone had alcohol in their luggage. I'm not sure how that is much different than what Hobby Lobby is trying to do. I can't wait until some company comes along and claims that all medical procedures are against their religious beliefs and therefore are not required to offer any medical insurance at all.
