Andrew Breitbart Loses It At Occupy Protesters

OWS Is a Conservative Movement, Corporations are Radical

Ariane says...

>> ^shagen454:

No one has anything to say about this? I disagree with some of the things said in this video...

The only thing I would disagree with is that the "conservative movement" part. Classic conservatives like Barry Goldwater or William Buckley would have supported OWS, but today's "mainstream" conservatives are more likely to back corporatism.

OWS is an anti-corporatism movement, and it is a position that many liberals and conservatives can get behind.

Climate of Deception: Faux News and Climate Change

volumptuous says...

Winston, you're just plain stupid. Admit it.

Like William F. Buckley, who used his "intelligence" and gift of gab to make his horrendous positions seem almost sane (like involuntarily tattooing the ass of every AIDS victim on the planet) your words, no matter how many 10cent phrases you use, are utterly hollow.

Just like what this video is about, you try to change the subject, or just bore the shit out of other readers with how unbelievably verbose you are, so people just drop the debate/argument altogether. It's a cunning ploy, but seeing as you've now been on VS for three years now and HAVE YET to post a single fucking video, we all see that you're just here to spread your bullshit, as opposed to actually contributing anything of any value to the Sift community.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you, the white Herman Cain (meaning, complete fucking idiot)

Rand Paul Flip Flops on Civil Rights Act, Blames Media

xxovercastxx says...

Show me an institution in this country that doesn't have racism in its history and I'll show you an institution that's less than 70 years old.

Rand Paul is a racist, and so is his father. So was William Buckley, the "Grandfather" of the conservative movement.

Rand Paul Flip Flops on Civil Rights Act, Blames Media

volumptuous says...

It's weird how many white people will intellectualize this issue, and discuss it as an abstract.

It's just racism. That is all that it is.

It was very clearly racism when on Morning Joe, none of the panel could keep their eyes off of Harold Ford.

Rand Paul is a racist, and so is his father. So was William Buckley, the "Grandfather" of the conservative movement. It's not difficult to discover. Lew Rockwell has all the old Ron Paul papers. They're ugly. Most of them are also homophobic, as well as misogynistic. All are clearly classist.

They are all quite hypocritical as well.

For instance, while Rand Paul claims he's a libertarian (when it suits him), he also believes in the drug war and the death penalty. He thinks that abortion is not a states issue. He also believes in subsidizing the coal industry, and %50 of his patients are Medicare recipients and is against any cuts in Medicare funding. So, basically he's just a wingnut racist Republican liar.

His father, the "World's Most Famous Libertarian" lobbied for $96.1million in Federal earmarks last year. But he doesn't want to spend a dime on giving Rosa Parks a medal? Yeah, that's not racism at all, it's just coincidental.

William F Buckley on Illegal Drugs, Hypocrisy

The Simpsons take on Ayn Rand & Right-Wingers

Memorare says...

Didn't the late William F. Buckley dismantle Rand's Objectivism in an article which explained why charity was actually one of the cornerstones of Conservatism?

Anyway I recently worked with a guy in his early 20's who was extremely intelligent and accomplished (attending San Fran Conservatory of Music) who was a rabid Ron Paul / von Mises / Ayn Rand disciple.

He could spout volumes of theory, philosophy and history to back up his arguments, but when it came to everyday common sense stuff he was ignorant, like he didn't know if a job paying $26,000/yr was considered a lot of money or not, or that the name of the tool you use to "turn things" was called a crescent wrench.

Turns out he was the son of a self-made millionaire, he would take jobs doing manual labor for a few months as kind of a lark, believing that he was experiencing 'real life' when in fact he was insulated from working class reality by daddy's millions.

Interesting guy, fascinating discussions, but ultimately he was living in fantasy land.

Where are these complaints originating that bk's comments "lack substance" from sifters who think "Bush = Hitler" is a cogent argument.

“Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.”

--W.F. Buckley

To give credit where it's due, a few libs around here DO enterain others' POV, but they are almost as huge a minority as "Righty".

I really don't see how not watching a video, but then proceeding to spew your rhetoric is some sort of contribution to anything.

I also don't see how eloquence somehow is a contribution to anything. William F. Buckley was an eloquent individual. And when he spoke of tattooing every HIV patient with a warning sign, he did it with flare and eloquence.

Personally, I have much more respect for people who are giant assholes, but who also submit videos and actually watch the videos they respond to.

Douchey? probably. But there you go. I have the person on ignore, but that doesn't stop comments appearing on my screen when someone quotes and replies.

Man who was sexually abused by catholic priests speaks out

This is pretty much the last nail in the present Irish governments coffin, the present bunch (Fianna Fail as mentioned in the video) pushed through a sweet deal with the religous orders which left those responsible for torture, rape, slavery, suicide, neglect and I dont doubt, murder (theres a hell of a lot of anonymous mass graves linked to these places), paying only €128 million in compensation.
The tax payer however has to pay the other € BILLION and counting.
To put that in context, some nuns recently sold a single property in Dublin and got €105 million for it.
-Edit-
I cant recommend this video enough, its Christine Buckley speaking about her life in Goldenbridge Orphanage in Dublin:

I just finished watching this video... Near the end a woman who was abused as a child at an institution said they had a dog that would run around biting off pieces of the kids legs and a monkey that would ride around on someone's shoulders masturbating while they ate rabbit feces.

... what the hell!
