Pro-Surge Propaganda Denies Reality on the Ground
By the way, those two "Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times reporters that recently praised the surge effort"? I suppose you mean Kenneth Pollack of the Brookings Institution - the author of "The Threatening Storm: The Case for Invading Iraq" - and his colleague Michael O'Hanlon, another longtime war booster, who just returned from a Pentagon-guided tour of Iraq and declared that the surge was working.
First, they are not "New York Times reporters", they contributed an op-ed; Republican presidential candidate Sam Brownback has also done this--does that make him a liberal? (His editorial was a defense of creationism.) Nevertheless, these two are currently being portrayed as repentant "liberals" just because they were published in the Times and have occasionally and briefly criticized some aspects of the war's execution. In reality, these are war supporters reaffirming their vows.
Ron Paul on the Daily Show - June 4th 2007
lessseee....nicey-nice white guy conegressman, richer than any American will ever be, mannish Senator from NY, straight outta no-where token politician hoo-doo man, some cunt named Mitt, named after his smarter counterpart, the "catcher's", a john, a joe, some Gravel and Kiswhosich???, some guy Biden Ricardson... Brownback,Giuliani,Gilmore,Paul; Huckabee,Hunter,Skeletor(mccain),Newt, Tacredo and Tommy Tom Tom....oh and, roll the founding farthers over in their dirtnaps, for the potentials....Gored and Coldburns, and Rear Admiral, Wesley Clark......Miss Any??? Is she running, too???......
Then there's the pathetic rub of this roulette wheel of oblivion-
In January 2007, Federal Election Commission Chairman Michael Toner stated that the 2008 U.S. presidential race will be "the most expensive election in American history". Toner estimated that the 2008 race will be a "$1 billion election", and that to be "taken seriously", a candidate will need to raise at least $100 million by the end of 2007.
Your choice, ladies and gentlemen, simply touch your lighted score pads and count up those clever sound bites, all votes tallied in as meaningful a way as possible-and remember, don't miss Dancing with the Idol Wifeswap, coming up after the next cold war........
There is another choice, but expatriation will have to wait for the grocery trucks to stop rolling........
thanks for the platform fedquips-cheers on this the 5th......
Evolution?--Three Republicans in Debate Don't Believe in It
Evolution is a pretty wild idea.
I choose never to mock individuals who don't think it is the guiding force of nature. Its an exceedingly humbling idea, and for many other reasons I can understand why some people might choose not to believe independent of some very compelling evidence. And as long as they don't want to be researchers in a biological discipline, teachers of a biological discipline, paleontologists, or veterinarians, they have the freedom to be comfortable in my opinion.
The argument that a supernatural force might have interceeded in putting together some RNA and a couple of proteins a billion years ago and then just let it stew seems rather silly to me, but whatever floats your boat.
(bonus! most primative primate fossil link ; http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2007-01/yu-pdm012307.php )
Sam Brownback always seemed like a nice enough gent, in a grandfatherly, "back in my day..." kind of way. Tancredo is kind of an ass, though.
Evolution?--Three Republicans in Debate Don't Believe in It
i agree with james roe. ive only heard of brownback in that bunch, and he doesnt stand a chance.
Evolution?--Three Republicans in Debate Don't Believe in It
I really don't understand the outrage in these comments. Saying "No" gets checkbooks out across the Midwestern and Southern USA, so many variants of Protestantism coming full circle to buy salvation with a "donation".
Brownback's the only guy I actually believe when he claims NOT to accept evolution. Even Bush's denials ("the jury's still out") sound evasive, like he's just being sensitive to the beliefs of his base.
Sending money to Christian causes makes old people and religious nutters feel slightly less afraid of death. That's how that works.
Evolution?--Three Republicans in Debate Don't Believe in It
The better follow-up question is what do Brownback, Tancreado, and Huckabee believe in? Creationism? A young Earth? Intelligent Design?
You don't necessarily have to accept without question the concept of the Selfish Gene or even Darwinian natural selection, but to raise your hand on this question is akin to raising your hand in support of a flat Earth. It is an irrational act.
Fox News on Obama - "He is...get this....a smoker!!!!"
oh . . .well I can't vote for a filthy smoker. I guess I'll have to vote for Senator Brownback now (oneofus.oneofus.oneofus.).
If you have a talking embryo...
If Bush and Brownsack, er Brownback, were truely morally opposed to the destruction of embryos, then they should ban in vitro fertilization. I may need to look up the exact number, but I believe I remember reading that it is in the hundreds of thousands of embryos that are destroyed each year in IVF clinics. Several hundred can be destroyed just to get a successful fertilization, but most of these are the un-used ones left over afterwards. Why do these idiots think it's better to dump them in the trash rather than to use them to save lives.
And by the way, they technically are not embryos, but a microscopic blob of about 150 cells called a blastocyst, it does not have arms, legs, a brain or a heart.
There must be some other agenda them. There is a way to produce stem cells with unfertilized eggs. It's a process called Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT). The process uses an unfertilized egg, which has the DNA (usually a skin cell) of the patient implanted in it to create matching stem cells for that patient. Both Brownback and Bush oppose of this too. In fact Brownback is trying to push legislation (which Bush supports) that would not only make SCNT illegal, but would also make it illegal for a patient or doctor to travel to a country where it is legal to have or perform a procedure using SCNT. In simple terms, if a cure for spinal cord injury is found a European country, and I travel to Europe to have the procedure, if Brownback has his way I would be arrested and put in prison upon returning to the United States.
And this whole adopt an embryo crap is just wrong too. Why adopt someone's frozen egg when there are thousands of already born children in this country that are awaiting adoption. Why do these morons care more about a frozen microscopic blob of cells than an actual human?
Sorry about the rant, I know it's not a political forum, but seeing this just got me all worked up again.
If you have a talking embryo...
I live in southern Ohio, and Sam Brownback IS a vagina.
