Breakdancing Fly

ant says...

I shocked a house fly in my nest a few months ago that did this too. I was laughing too hard because it looked like it was break dancing to me.

BREAK DANCE ASSASSINATION

Crazy Martial Arts "Tricking" Competition

rex84 says...

Yeah, if you check the wikipedia article linked above, it describes Tricking as "a type of acrobatics derived from martial arts such as sport karate incorporating techniques found in gymnastics, break dancing, and similar disciplines."

So even the (semi) official description acknowledges that it's more acrobatics than martial arts.

It's entirely possible that some of these guys actually are martial artists (most likely TKD), but what's on show here is not martial arts.

It's gymnastics, maybe movie stunt fighting at best, but calling it "martial arts" is a stretch too far.

Still pretty impressive though.

Crazy Impressive Breakdancing Kids

Every English poet uses the same 26 letters?

I think we stretched this far enough. I suppose the point is there is there is more to dancing than the novelty of a move you haven't seen before. Break dancing isn't exactly alone in having a "vocabulary" of moves and I don't think its the most limited either.

If every poet could only use the same 20 words, then poetry would get pretty boring pretty fast.

Amazing Japanese "Tron" Live Stage Show.

RadHazG says...

The track may have been from Tron, but this idea of dancing with neon body lights doesn't necessarily make it a tribute is what he's saying. Nobody here watched America's Got Talent last season I take it otherwise this wouldn't have been anything they hadn't seen before. Team iLuminate did this stuff and largely was the one who introduced it to the mainstream as far as I can tell. Point being its a style/setting/type of dance so unless every song they do is a tribute, one by itself doesn't make it so. It would be like saying every break dance video was a tribute to You Got Served if the movie had come out before the dance style had become popular.

Was just about to ask the exact same thing.

Much as I love watching break dancing, I can never help but notice how stupid the observers look. What's the deal with that hand gesture they all make?

Clapping is a hand gesture that serves much the same purpose and makes just as little sense.
