Mean Tweets - Hip Hop Edition
pfsh, where was Dre? Where were the Beastie Boys (the ones still alive)? Where was Cypress Hill and Public Enemy?
Oh crap... am I ... old???
Smashing Pumpkins - Starla (live in Chicago)
You are correct sir. I saw the same tour. I did roll out while the smashing gourds played. Before they hit the stage the mood was awesome thanks to George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars and the Beastie Boys. But I really enjoyed seeing them on the Gish tour at a small venue.
Saw them at a Lollapalooza in 1994(?) after Siamese Dream was released if memory serves.

Takes me back. Saw them at a Lollapalooza in 1994(?) after Siamese Dream was released if memory serves. Billy kept making fun of the Beastie Boys cause they wouldn't tune their own instruments. *promote

Star Trek Beyond - Trailer 1
Jesus fucking christ, how did this abortion ever get green lit?
Way to completely and utterly miss the point of a franchise.
What's next? The next Raid to be a slow-paced, dialogue heavy introspection into the nuances of Indonesian geopolitics?
Does the drummer in Whiplash 2 join a metal band?
Every single thing about this is just stupid, from the soundtrack* to the lame attempt to give Chris Pine Kirks haircut. Fuck, I haven't even mentioned anything about the direction or the story yet.
@CrushBug, don't take this personally, but if there was a way to unpromote or anti-quality I would use every single point I earned on this abomination.
Look, if you want to make an awesome action movie in space with a kick arse soundtrack, great! Sign me the fuck up for that one. In fact, I watched it last year, it was called Guardians of the Galaxy and I loved it.
But that's not what Star Trek is about. Why would you even bother spending money on the licence? It's not that you can't even make a great Trek movie with decent action beats (First Contact nailed both), but Star Trek is supposed to be a tiny bit more thoughtful.
Fuck everything about this.
* I love the Beastie Boys and Sabotage is a great song, but it fits Star Trek about as well as smooth jazz would fit the next Avengers.
Beastie Boys - Too Many Rappers
"I usually don't pay much attention to Nas, but it's cool he's launched these 'Beastie Boys' dude's careers"
best anarchist speech i have ever heard
I used to think like this, but then I finished high school.
Seriously, anarchy is a lovely ideal. Everyone lives in peace and harmony and no-one is tramping anyone elses rights. When a job needs doing, we find someone willing to do it and compensate them (preferably with a barter system or something).
One minor problem though..
IT
DOESN'T
FUCKING
WORK.
We don't live in some kind of post-scarcity utopia. I wish we did, but that is simply not the reality of human society or history. Anarchists and libertarians seem to think that anyone who disagrees with them loves government and simply can't wait to pour their hard earned money in a military industrial complex.
I don't know anyone like that. I don't like my government, and I sure as hell don't like yours. I don't mind paying for hospitals and roads and welfare (and yeah, I don't even really give a fuck about "welfare queens" or "dole bludgers" or other mythical right wing beasties), but I fucking hate the idea that my money goes to fund the pointless "war on drugs" or on mass surveillance.
But I recognise that for all its ills, the system (for the most part) works. People today have a higher standard of living, live longer, and have more rights than at any other time in history. Some of that is down to science; some of it is because of private innovation and some of it is simply that we have changed the way our societies run through elections, etc.
What I do know is that when government becomes beholden to private interests (lobbyists in the USA) shit goes bad. But the solution to that is not to allow powerful people even more leeway to fuck over the weak.
These Are The People That I Want to be With by MANGCHI
For the unaware, the lyricist and vocalist is Steve Lee, brother of Bobby Lee, comedian (formerly of Mad TV). The group is called Mangchi, which means Hammer in Korean.
The music is by Money Mark of Beastie Boys (among many others) fame.
David Choe, hundred-millionaire artist, forged this group in the fires of Mordor upon learning of Steve's talent for writing and rapping.
Steve believes there are lizard people in some other astral plane or whatever. And that's what this song is about.
Check out the album because there are actually several awesome songs that I really like and all in very different formats: http:///mangchi.com
