Supergirl - First Look

ant says...

I don't know about that for Supergirl. It reminds me of cheesy Smallville. I like the darker series of Arrow, Netflix's Daredevil, etc.

Much more fun The Flash feel, rather than The Arrow; which is a good thing.

Supergirl - First Look

Ygritte from Game of Thrones - how strong is she really?

Chairman_woo says...

We know it's powerful enough to penetrate, fur &/or mail + a thick gambeson/doublet as most of the Nights watch wear (reference, any scene where she shoots a battle dressed crow such as end of season 4). Even allowing for heavy shafts and piercing tips that's still some serious power.

Well beyond your average 20-40lb target & small game hunting type bows. Even if it was primarily a hunting bow, the wildings frequently hunt big game like Elks so it makes sense that it'd be a relatively heavy draw.

Besides even if it was a relatively light warbow (60-80lbs or so lets say), that's still hardcore to the extreme to hold at full draw for more than a few seconds and not loose ones composure (my aim would probably start shaking after 3-4, my body after 10-20 tops).

(and I think 80-120lbs is probably more likely anyway)

Besides this all misses the real point underlying i.e. no one trained with a bow would be silly enough to waste so much energy holding at full draw. Half maybe, or just taking up the slack.

Doubly silly given John has no ranged weapon of his own here and she could probably draw and loose 2 or 3 arrows before he closed the distance if he tried.

Goes on my list of pet gripes with GOT alongside Daenerys "firing" catapults and the occasional sword "schwing" sound. (not that I don't love the show)

Of course, you don't know the draw of her bow. You can only speculate. In other words, you know nothing, Jon Snow.

why is my video getting buried (Sift Talk Post)

Sagemind says...

1). So the answer is, YES, it is "failing" to indicate page numbers.
Clicking the arrow works, but it is supposed to indicate page numbers.
Example.: on the "Newest Video" page. there are page numbers.
on the "upcoming videos" page - no page numbers.

2). sure okay - It seems to be working now, as you say. I may have been mistaking individual pages with the featured video page which shows the video on the old format. It's distracting jumping back and forth. but I see what you are saying.

3). just doesn't work for me. (as I commented above.)

Thanks for your help though. They may be very little things, but as the SIFT grows and becomes more complex, inconsistencies become more noticeable.

Is there a defect with the mechanism?
-No there is not

1). The Sift IS failing to indicate additional pages, I've noticed this quite a bit lately.
-No thats not true. It does but the last page is not a page number but an arrow thingy.

2). I've also noticed that the sift pages can't decide if they want to use the new format or the old one. I seem to get them both randomly on each page - no pattern that I've noticed. This tends to confuse how we are seeing things.
-NO, it works as intended and. New format when viewing individual videos. All other pages old style. Also you can opt out of new format if you would like(bottom of the page)

3). The information that used to be at the bottom of the page, which indicated who has up-voted or down-voted is missing. We can no longer tell who has voted in which direction.
-Newt answered above.

Seems to be about right, minus some detalis...except...

3) if you hover over the vote number, who voted and which way pops up for you now. It's a bit hidden, but it's there.

I had no idea that the additional pages were not loading for some people, they always do for me. I'm glad you've told Lucky.
EDIT: I do only see an arrow for the last page, not a number, which is odd but works.

Wow, this is out of hand.

(correct me if I'm wrong here)
I think:
- @billpayer posted a video that was calling out racism where it was not.
- He received a down-vote.
- He failed to be able to find his post afterwards.
- Instead of contacting @lucky760 to see if there was a glitch, he killed and re-posted.
- He was accused of doing something unethical to cover-up a down-vote.
- Then people proceeded to down-vote where, they may have normally just not-voted.

Then a whole pile of other accusations, and in-fighting started.

So, lets get to the problem here.

you guys are hilarious. That's now the thumbnail it started with, and another user decided it needed to be changed. I obliged them because I agreed, and now you change it back because....?
I don't really care either way...I just got a chuckle out of the 'it should have this thumb...no it should have this thumb...no it should have the first thumb' back and forth.
EDIT: I gotta say, this thumbnail is not going to get any views...it's not good, and the one with her holding the arrow wasn't much better. Both are bland. I liked the one that was made for it that's now gone.

VideoSift v6 (VS6) Beta Video Page (Sift Talk Post)

Agreed that the channels need to be present.

Also, the placement of the vote total with the upvote and downvote arrows are placed so far at the bottom of the page (at least on Firefox) I either need to scroll down to access it to vote or I have to be very accurate with my cursor.

Adjusting that up off the "bottom" of the page (without having to scroll) would be nice to have access to. Otherwise, I could imagine videos not getting voted for at all. Which would not be good needless to say.

A Response to Lars Andersen: a New Level of Archery

draak13 says...

Despite that measures of time may not be so analytically robust, there are reasonably good relative measures. Throw a stone into the air or drop it from a fixed height, and see how many arrows you can shoot before it hits the ground. Even if it were as long as 3 seconds, that's still an impressively short time to shoot 3 arrows in.

Xaielao said:

Her question of 'how did the Saracens count seconds' may be a little mocking but it's also incredibly apt. The idea of 'seconds' or even 'minutes' would have been completely foreign to them. The first clocks to measure seconds were invented in the late 17th century, and wasn't a common feature in clocks for another century +.
