Are you considering an ipad because it's going to be less fiddly to use in terms of it's interface than say a Windows ultra-portable? I've got a nice Asus 12.1" laptop with great battery life that I'm very happy with and could do everything you have listed. I can even put it into my A4 wallet holder-thingy and no one can even see I have a laptop.

I suppose the issue is have you ruled out such laptops? And if so I think the research you need to do is to find available apps that tick your boxes. Then just have a play on one in a Apple store and see if it chimes with you.

iPad 2 glass is definitely fragile. I dropped it on linoneleum and it cracked in the corner - Apple store did do an instant refurb swap for me though. Is it possible to make a plastic capactive touch screen?

I find it amusing how strange 'differently thinking' people react when they actually see someone think different. None of them joined in, or high-fived, and were only seemingly snickering/getting enjoyment by laughing at him vs with him.



To be fair, it's a terrible song and he just goes on and on and on for four and a half minutes.

Steve Kardynal has no fear apparently. I check back to see some of his videos, the daily ones are kinda blah but these prepared ones are hilarious. There's one of him singing Eminem in an Apple store and recording it from one of the laptops on display....and another of him out at a band event of some kind dancing with no music for hordes of people.

I'd be embarassed for the guy if I saw him doing some of this stuff live.

That and I didn't know the bridge of the Enterprise looked like an Apple store.

@kronosposeidon, only time will tell whether html5 will replace Flash. The plus for html5 is it's open source which allows for a huge amount of people to contribute to the development of the actual platform, unlike Adobe. However Flash has been around for a long time and continues to innovate. It's hard to say at the moment.

@dag, au contrair, mon ami. You don't have to pay a penny to download FlashDevelop or Eclipse and add the Flex SDK. That's about as open source as it gets. And Flash introduced a new XML based .XFL file, which is a folder structure with assets and text documents. You may need Flash CS5 to compile it still; that I don't know. But, it appears to allow for open source editing of the files.

One thing no one has mentioned is how integrated the Adobe products are, so you can go between things like After Effects and Flash. You can import layered PSDs to each. You can't do any of that with html 5. I think most people who don't use Flash see it only as a web platform, but it's always been more.

@budzos, I agree with you. You shouldn't feel obligated to give an autograph to anyone. However, this was the grand opening of the Apple Store on 5th Avenue, which implies that Jobs is there for PR. Whether signing autographs for fans is healthy for PR or not is up to debate.
