All due respect, messenger, downvoting is our way to say we don't want videos of people being killed on the sift. That said, whether or not this meets the sift guidelines on snuff videos is a good topic of discussion.

To me it's not snuff because if the hostage taker had lived, I would still have sifted it. In fact, I would rather he had lived. To me, this is all about the cahones on the policewoman.

I saw this video about a week or so ago. I thought about sifting for the policewoman's heroism and her nonchalance, but ultimately decided that this was basically a snuff film.

Yeah, I downvoted. I don't believe videos like this contribute anything of value to the Sift. There are plenty of other sites where you can go to watch people getting horribly maimed or killed. VideoSift shouldn't be one of them, IMO.

I didn't know this topic caused fights. This is my first time seeing it on the internet. I happened to figure it out by myself a few months ago, and ran it by a nerdy friend who said they are synonymous. So hopefully others haven't seen it either and will enjoy yet another one of Vi Hart's amazing videos.

I mean I'm not even sure if my tear-up was a happy tear-up; 29 years without hearing is pretty heartbreaking and then to see how sensitive & happy she is about hearing for the first time. I just can't even imagine what sounds would sound like for the first time. Amazing video because it's simultaneously heart-wrenching and super positive.

Matthew 26 says:

It is evident to me that you are trying to obey the first law but you should strongly consider following the second one as well. Sooner later you will be banned for the insulting and hurtful things that you say on the sift.

If you are only on the sift to be mean to others then I suggest that you stop using it altogether now before you don't have a choice in the matter. If you are on the sift because you enjoy funny, interesting, strange, beautiful, obscure, amazing videos then continue using it but refrain from your insults.
