Just as an FYI. Sony's stock went up because of speculation that they are spinning off the music and movie portions of the business. The Xbox One timing was mostly just a coincidence.

Loved this game on SNES back in the day (still play it now and again). I'd prefer it to move faster and not be turn based, but I'll probably get it anyway...looks WAY better than the Xbox thing they came out with a while back. So much potential with this franchise, I wish someone would run with it and make it a real contender.

Wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft wait with an announcement until E3 and take over the whole expo. It would certainly be the highlight of the whole event and it's not like it would get lost along with all the other news coming out of E3.
E3 2013 would be all about the next xbox and it's games and whatever sony comes out with wouldn't even matter.
If the Sony conference was all about dragons Microsoft would slay those dragons.

I was underwhelmed to say the least during the presentation... Media Molecule got the biggest applause of the night. Got excited for a moment when Blizzard came out, then was let down by the Diablo 3 announcement, was hoping for something more exciting, but even if they release Titan on anything but PC they won't announce it at all until Blizzcon so not sure what I was expecting there... and yeah, the guy coming out to say we'll announce the next Final Fantasy at E3 was a cheap shot. And nothing really new from Destiny. I think the whole event was best summed up by XBox's Major Nelson who said something along the lines of "Have an event announcing your new console and not show it, that's one way of doing it."

I use my PS3 mostly for Bluray (it was by far the cheapest way into Bluray at the time) and Netflix (as my 360 sucks on Netflix on my network for some reason) and rarely games, that's what my PC is for and 360... It was nice to see it is indeed using x86 as rumored, and I was a little lost on why they didn't at least mention that it does have a Bluray drive during the event... something they mentioned in a followup press release as if they forgot...

The question now is, does Microsoft show early or wait for E3 for the whole show? They could do an pre-E3 show and show how it should be done... This was just badly handled. I mean 2 hours for what could have taken 30 minutes tops... and I still would have at least showed the system.

does the PS4 play games? you know...the sole reason anyone would want to buy one?

in fairness, I have the same complaint about the Xbox and Wii. In their feverish scramble to add extra crap to their consoles that no one wanted or asked for, they seem to be neglecting games.

Definitely not going to be competition for the Xbox 720 - but some people are more interested in casual gaming (Angry birds) or retro gaming (MAME) and this will be perfect for that.

Also I think people are a tired of all the novel controls - Kinnect, numchucks, wands, boards, guitars. Some people just want to play games with their thumbs.

We Americans are all action stars and super heroes lying in wait for our moment to shine. Don't tell us that unlocking all the XBOX achievements for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 3 won't prepare us for real life combat. Don't tell us that years of tactical study from great masters like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn't pull us through when shit gets real. Don't tell us that our weekend paintball/lazer tag battles aren't indistinguishable from the front lines of Vietnam. The best way to stop one crazy American letting loose with his pistolas in a crowded square is to have all crazy Americans let loose with their pistolas in a crowded square.

Nah. What would make it neat and worthwhile is if it was OS agnostic, so it worked on Android or iOS tablets and phones as well as Windows ones. Who's stupid enough to own a Windows Phone and Windows Tablet and an Xbox? Apart from Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates.
