Oh but... oh but...

xxovercastxx:
"I have not labeled anyone a "brainless dipshit" for liking this song. "
And
I specifically said I don't have any issue with people who like this song, so I'm starting to think you all just enjoy being offended and/or arguing.

Except that your original comment was You know how sometimes you have one of those moments where you just realize that you're surrounded by brainless dipshits? This song at the height of its success was the biggest such moment I can recall.

That's what sent us all off... You did label those who enjoy it as brainless dipshits via that comment, and that's what gave us cause for some 'discussion'.

Later you honed that comment to be more along the lines of that you hate people who suggest that this is a great song, which I tend to agree with, but at the same time if said people also enjoyed a wide range of music with integrity and artistic value as well, are they not allowed to think a simplistic, catchy tune is also great?

Still, I'll join in the lament of really great music not being appreciated by the masses, but enjoy listening to what I enjoy.

And to illustrate the point that I have no claim to 'great taste'... here is some of the artists on high rotation in my media player:
The Beatles, Metallica, VAST, The Waifs, Live, The Whitlams, Bryan Adams, Enigma, Chris Isaak, Barenaked Ladies, The Tea Party, David Gray, Green Day, Era, Bernard Fanning, Dave Matthews Band, Marcy Playground, Regina Spektor, INXS, Vivaldi, Pink, Missy Higgins, Meat Loaf, The Wallflowers.

See... in that small sample of what I enjoy I'm sure most people would have some that they'd go 'Nice' to, some they'd go 'Oh my god, how embarrassing', some they go 'Who?' and so on... everyone has different tastes, different RANGE of tastes. I enjoy many, many other artists than those few I just grabbed off my media player, and within them there are sure to be more cringe worthy artists, more 'who's, more 'nice'... let everyone enjoy the full range of what they enjoy.

The Evolution of Anime

kronosposeidon says...

Direpickle asked a question seven months ago that deserves an answer:
I don't know who did this rock version, but the music is originally from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons".
_______________

What, no InuYasha? It's your avatar too, snipe. What's up with that?
_______________

Anime at its best is hard to beat, IMHO. I LOVE 'Cowboy Bebop', and 'Ghost In The Shell' was also superb. 'Evangelion' was really good too. But 'Speed Racer' and 'Transformers' can lick my sweaty nut sack for all I care. Just one man's opinion.

poor guys.....they seem confused-sectarian bullshit may keep this region screwed for decades to come...when the U.S "pulls out", too late, should have used reliable birth control...ounce of prevention???? Is it bad the U.S. is there? Duh!....Have they fought a war without any sense as far as
rules of engagement go..YES!
Is this production with it's ominous music(cheese rip-off vivaldi-techno) fraught with a schlocky, slanted, un-professional journalistic style and timber?? YES!

Do you seriously expect folks to believe, that these seemingly reasonable gentlemen, are in a quandry as to why an occupying force given the clusterfuck of the circumstances, would think a camera crew of locals was suspicious??? Obviously, someone hopes to convince using such tactics, it is here for all to see........some folks have to quarrel, and there are those who, making use of another's quarrel, their personal empire from it build-

-Read The Sneetches, Dr. Suess has a perfect picture, of the reason for this bullshit-See no use for a production like this in the grand scheme of things.....find the folks who orchestrated the whole bill of goods, instead of talking about how bad it is......and look for another version of the same game......Cheery, isn't it???

Allegro non troppo (1h 20min)

pyrex says...

"Allegro non troppo is a Bruno Bozzetto animated film released in 1977. The film is a parody of Disney's Fantasia, though possibly more of a challenge to Fantasia than parody status would imply. In music, an instruction of "allegro ma non troppo" means to play "fast, but not overly so". In the context of this film, and without the "ma", it means Not So Fast!, an interjection meaning "slow down" or "think before you act" and refers to the film's pessimistic view of Western progress (as opposed to the optimism of Disney's original).

The film features six classical pieces:

Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune by Claude Debussy
Slavonic Dance No. 7 by Antonín Dvořák
Boléro by Maurice Ravel
Valse Triste by Jean Sibelius
Concerto in C Major by Antonio Vivaldi
The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky

The classical pieces are set to color animation, ranging from comedy to deep tragedy. At the beginning, in between the animation, and at the end is black and white live action film, displaying the (well, not the actual) animator, orchestra, conductor, and filmmaker, with many humorous scenes about the (again, not actual) production of the film."

Finally, additional props to sometimes for posting the sad cat segment of this intriguing movie.
