If your account has been banned, this was most likely done for a reason. You can look up possible reasons here:

If you still believe that your account has been wrongfully banned after reading the posting guidelines, you can appeal the banination by contacting the administrators.

Should Powers Be Stripped Unilaterally By Admins Without Balls? (User Poll by chingalera)

chingalera says...

I'd also add once again here that all this power-stripping..the warnings and promises from admins in an attempt to keep me on a short leash as not to offend the damaged sensibilities of those who simply have a hard-on to see me burn is nothing more than a window into some unchecked personality disorders.

I don't mind so much being the whipping-boy for such nonsense since I do court confrontation when attacked unjustly by the timid and confused but the dicklessness from some of the most egregious of offenders (ignore button, my ass)?? The passive-aggression from those who fear change or love the smell of their own fucking farts and want everyone else to stand in line for a sniff??? Fuck that shit.

Most Shocking Second a Day Video

JAPR says...

By assuming we are "close minded conspiracy theorists" simply off the basis of having a different conclusion than you, you're simply avoiding the discussion, and you still fail to make any legitimate arguments; you merely repeat the "tired and naive" talking point of how "it's not the best, but it's the best we have" to defend an unjust system.

When has that attitude ever done us good? We have such amazing technology and understanding of the universe because of the way we as a whole ultimately reject that argument and instead say "some of this works quite well, but we need a lot of work in other areas."

Personally, I'm a fan of the free market concept. I think a fair amount of those who you are so eager to write off as fools also do. The problem comes down to what our concepts of justice are. We speak fondly of "equality of opportunity," but anyone can see we have no such thing. Only when everyone has equal opportunity to pursue learning in the fields of their choice without having to give up on adding to our collective culture/knowledge because of the economic pressure of survival can we truly say people are free. So long as anyone is taking a job they hate just to scrape by at the bottom of the chain, and we exercise violence against each other to try and force our ways onto others on a massive scale, we are, in my opinion, a profoundly unjust society.

Of course, violence will never end, scheming and exploitation and all our evils will continue to plague us. We can't make a utopia. What we can do, though, is decrease the potential for abuse in our current systems. I, and many others, think that separating the means of survival and self-actualization - the things required to develop, grow, and contribute to humanity at a high level (namely, food/water/shelter, basic healthcare, and free, equal access to education) - from the rest of the market is one way to make a huge impact on that potential for abuse. Think about it: how many times do we let corporations damage our environment and abuse us simply because speaking out means losing your means of survival?

I think the rest of the market is going to have to stay the market, nobody can really say how it's fair to divide up all our resources (though I hope for an increase in democracy going forwards for things related to our environment and health). Amusingly, though you rail against anarchy, the actual ideals of anarchy fall in line with the concept of a free market (anarchy is really all about freedom of association rather than coercive structures; not a lack of order).

Don't need to "Edumacate" myself thanks. As for arguing a point? Well, with certain closed minded conspiracy theorists it is pointless. Especially with someone who sees ALL the problems wrapped neatly up in a capitalist plot. Their answer? they have none other than "overthrow those in control." Well, you don't need to look far to see what anarchy brings. Or should I spell it out for you? It brings exactly that; Anarchy, in fighting, tribalism, persecution and pain. You stick to your childish revolutionary talk and I will, with all its flaws, stick to the best there is at the minute ie, capitalism and democracy (such as it is).

Cops tazed father trying to save son?

Lawdeedaw says...

I can agree with this except this is the United States of America. The police here are REQUIRED to interfere. Whether or not you agree with the action is irrelevant. The lawmakers, elected by the people have decided, for better or worse, this course of action. And since the law itself is practical, not unjust, I doubt it will change any time soon.

*Edit,

I tend to agree with you on this issue. They would have had to do worse than taze me to keep me out. And in the father's defense, if he went outside to better reach his child than say through the smoke-filled house, as it seemed pretty bad in there, then I can feel understand his choice.

The police are not in the right any time they prevent another consenting adult from making a decision about his life, or the life of a dependent.
I can't believe the kid died. I would visit that precinct with the biggest bouquet of roses after I was released. And by roses I mean artillery. Many people live solely for their children, and this was entirely unacceptable.

EDIT: the one thing that does bug me about this, though I'm sure the story can't convey all the circumstances, why would any responsible parent vacate their home before thinking of the safety of their child?

Anyway, yay life!

Republicans vs. Democrats: Why So Angry? with Robert Reich

Lawdeedaw says...

I say it's because Capitalism nears its end when there are fewer and fewer countries to abuse through market manipulation and force.

And @ChaosEngine, I think Gays, Blacks, Etc, all banded together as well. It became more group all around, just smaller groups, and that naturally means more exclusion (Any time you have people come together some other group must distance.)

I also don't think that the application to exclusion of minorities fully applies to the right. It is an economic issue really. Successful blacks take jobs (As should be their rights.) In fact, a great jump in equality came as a result of blacks joining white Unions for a common cause rather than blacks being used for cheap labors to destroy Union's powers. And did you know, Irish were considered dirty "black" as well? Dirty little Irish wanting jobs. Look at our hatred of Mexicants? Job grabbers.

Now Irish and Jews responded for the most part in positive ways. Many blacks; however, fell for a convenient trap. Easier I guess, in some respects. (Unjust in all--and I am speaking of the cultural traps, not black culture.)

Gays, well they are bad because insurance would be more expensive.

Economics. Abortion became immoral because of it...

Adam vs. the Robot White House Citizen Harrassment Service

1. Read the First Amendment and tell me where it is granting you any right:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The operative phrase is a restriction on the power of Congress, not the endowment of a right upon individuals.

Also, the Declaration of Independence backs me up:

"that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights"

As does the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

"Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,"

These rights are yours simply because you are human, and they are inalienable - you can't give them away even if you want to.

2. You can not bring a lawsuit in US court for a violation of rights based upon legislation unless you have standing. In effect, you must demonstrate that a law has actually caused you harm in some illegitimate, unfair, or unconstitutional manner. One of the easiest ways to gain standing is to violate the law and suffer the consequences of what you perceive to be an unjust law.

3. The Supreme Court has only recognized a right to privacy from government intrusion not from individual or corporate intrusion. Furthermore, there is no assumption to a right to privacy in a public place. The most logical reason for the need to get a permit to film there is that the Park Service recognizes the economic value of licensing something that is in high demand (filming in front of the White House) and could care less about the privacy of individuals (citizens and non-citizens alike).

arekin said:

First the constitution does grant these rights. No right is "inherent" or else we would not be having this conversation. Second, when a law is put into place that someone feels violates their constitutional rights the correct way to challenge that law is in court, where the law may be struck down as unconstitutional. Lastly when the rights of an individual may impose on the rights of another individual, whose rights win out? In this case it can be argued (and I'm sure has been) that commercial filming impedes on the individuals right to privacy for commercial gain, which is why their is a specific law against it. Adam can argue that we cant prove that he is filming for commercial purposes but if they have cause to suspect that he is they have every right to arrest him. the fact that his film did end on youtube for commercial purposes means they were absolutely right.

I say things like FUCK THE POLICE and I get downvoted. But clearly they're assholes with power trips. Even if there are so-called "good people" and "responsible officers", the policies in place to enforce so-called "justice" are UNJUST.

Fuck you if you're in law enforcement. I'm sorry, but FUCK YOU. I don't care if you're one of the good guys. All humans suck, no one is a hero, people all have their own value system.

The fact that they're just playing this woman with comments like "Oh, you have a law degree?" "I thought you said your husband works at home?"

Just trying their best to trip her up and call out "lies". It's a frame of mind and our law enforcement puts people -- humans, just like you and me -- into this state of mind.

Law enforcement has their own state of mind and they turn it in an us-versus-them situation all the time. Because they have authority. People have bad days and police are people. If you catch someone on a bad day they do bad things. Therefore this bullshit of manhandling your fellow citizen as a policy is RUBBISH.

Oh, police lives. Oh golly, the police lives that might end if they don't act like brutes. If they go easy on us, we'll kill them!! Right? Right... BULLSHIT.

Glenn Greenwald - Why do they hate us?

bcglorf says...

Well, I'm about to get down voted into oblivion, but I have to state this as bluntly as possible.

This is the most perverted kind of propaganda that can be trotted out by someone, and it sickens me to see it. Glen is absolutely correct in every fact he points out, and is in that respect, doing nothing but telling the truth and educating his audience with things they likely didn't know before, and should have. It would seem that should be an unqualified good thing then, but it's not.

What makes this offensive propagandizing to me is the absolutely deliberate omission of equally true, relevant and significant facts that Glen can't help but be aware of. His sole purpose for the omission is that it suddenly shifts things from black and white into the gray that audiences don't like as much.

I'll start from the most important point, and the very premise of the talk, why do they hate us? There is a bigger question though that is even more illuminating, and it is why to they(jihadist terrorists) hate and kill their fellow Islamic countrymen and neighbours? The fact here is that jihadi terrorists before 9/11 and even more so since, have killed tens and hundreds of times as many middle eastern muslims than they have white western infidels. Glen points out plenty of reasons people can have to be upset with America over it's past actions, which is legit in itself, but NONE of those reasons explain why these jihadists target there own fellow middle eastern muslims for the exact same violence and retribution America faced on 9/11. The fact this makes plain is that the jihadi terrorists will hate not only us, but everyone who is not willing to join them unconditionally. They are not the misunderstood, historically slighted and unjustly maligned people Glen's talk might lead people to think of them as. They(jihadi terrorists) do not deserve our sympathy or apologies, their countrymen and neighbours that are their biggest victims do.

Glen also goes on to list the deaths from sanctions on Iraq as an American crime. Apparently Saddam's horrific(then American approved) war on Iran, his genocide of the Kurds, his extensive use of chemical weapons in both, his complete seizure of Kuwait and his genocide of Iraqi Shiites are not relevant to the discussion of placing sanctions on his country. In Glen's discussion, despite this laundry list of crimes against humanity, Saddam is entirely innocent and not in anyway to blame for the children starving in his country while he continued to build himself new palaces and kept his personal guard and secret police forces well equipped and well fed. How is one to take this seriously?

Finally, Glen omits a terrifically important American crime in East Timor that Bin Laden listed. No, sadly it's not our tacit support for the pro Islamic genocide of the people there in the past, but it was America's support for an end to that genocidal repression and support for a free and independent East Timor. This was listed near the very top of American crimes. When Zarqawi blew up the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, he was very clear that it wasn't for Iraqi children dead at the hands of American sanctions. It was because Sérgio Vieira de Mello(killed in the blast) helped over see the transition to a free East Timor.

I'm afraid I am beyond disappointed by talks like this, I find them offensive and contemptible.

I Am Bradley Manning

L0cky says...

So keeping a promise is more important than preventing war crimes; preventing the corruption of a government; upholding the freedom and morality of an entire civilisation; habeus corpus; magna carta (which is now been successfully rendered obselete in the US and many other countries); the bill of rights; and the US constitution?

More important than preventing the deaths of thousands of innocent people; allowing you to avoid an ignorant election of despots; preventing one government from unjustly interfering with the political process of another; more important than allowing a man to speak the truth?

And so I'm going to push this button; even when I have learned that it will destroy the Earth and everything on it, for I made a promise.

skinnydaddy1 said:

What secret did he give away that was damning to the US government? Oh thats right Nothing Other than information that gave away procedures on how informants were handled and oh! some of their names. But don't let that get in the way of your oh so holy rambling of utter bullshit. You go on about how the government broke its oath so thats your excuse for someone breaking theirs. Good to know that you'll use any excuse not to keep one. I find it takes far more courage to keep an oath when everyone else is tossing theirs aside.
