3D Printer Meme - WORKING Tools in Space
I recently bought a Theo Jansen miniature sculpture printed on a similar 3D printer. .
Pretty badass that it has dozens of points of articulation, but came out in one piece.

NOT A DUPE. Not even close to a dupe. An excerpt is not a dupe! @<a rel="nofollow" href="http://videosift.com/member/mxxcon" title="member since April 27th, 2009" class="profilelink">mxxcon, thanks for remembering the prior two versions of this man's work.

Great but too short..
and i want a closeup hehe
no, it's not this video. it was much longer. Theo showed different evolutionary designs of legs and how water pump system works in these devices. and it wasn't his TED talk either..

Incredible collection of homemade marble machines
Ah! Thanks for that. I thought he was signing the video, rather than just name-dropping.>> ^arvana:
I'm not sure what Theo Jansen has to do with these machines, other than he autographed the last one. The artist is a Japanese fellow who goes by 'denha' online, real name from his website may be Naoki Harada...

Incredible collection of homemade marble machines
Stunningly beautiful in their aesthetics and elegance.
The last one was the best by far for its lifelike motion and raindrop-like sound.
The name Theo Jansen should at least be in the tags, if not the title.

Thank you for that

could try to sift this in it's own right but fuck it. It's an animated scematic of how this thing works mechanically

The Hiller Flying Platform
OK, i know what i want.
I want one of these, only with an ornate throne rather than standing up.
then when it lands i want it to unfold Theo Jansen legs so it crawls around like an insect.
Then I'm gonna fly to a remote place and rule the locals as their flying insect god!

Bastard offspring of a Segway and a Theo Jansen Sculpture
Yeah, each of these machines will feature two housewives underneath, and one extra as a spare...
>> ^Memorare:
ah naive mechanical engineering students, soon to be wiser but unemployed mechanical engineers, displaced by illiterate Malaysian housewives willing to work for $0.10/hr.
