i just noticed on the TEDtalks website, the two tags to describe this talk are : unconvincing, obnoxious.

About 1 in 20 TEDtalks come across all about ego and this is one of them, i guess the idea was that they'd be empowering..
so the point behind this was that some fears are unjustified, your sometimes capable of things you don't think you are, or you might like things you don't think you would. it didn't seem all that motivational...

^Thank you for on finding those. They didn't come up as related when I posted. He gives the same talk in the first link you provided, as well as answering questions, but I think the second link is actually the same exact video. TED released the one I posted only this week. I will include it in the TEDtalks playlist I'm working on.

For those who haven't heard of Brian Cox, he's the fella from this awesome TED Talk and is working on the Large Hadron Collider. I want to be him.

The reason this qualifies as TEDtalk is not because of what he is actually presenting.. While this design might not work with the majority of the industry's audience, its this sort of thinking that we need to be encouraging as our technology advances. if we dont evolve into the next stages, the industries will eat themselves up. In addition to presenting new practical ideas, the point of TED is furthering the way we think as we come up with new ideas and put them into action. we'll never come up with the next big "Thing" unless we have people like this guy just thinking stuff up and putting their hearts and minds into them.

This could just be me, but how did this ever qualify for a TEDtalk? It honestly seems as if the interface would be counter-intuitive and make losing things on the desktop much easier.

That said, how much time does anyone spend actually interacting with their desktop? I look at my desktop once every few days (that being when I reboot my computer), and I've never felt like I'm missing anything by not staring at a desktop display.

Hi Robert,

I think group playlists used to be a separate kind of playlist, but I don't see that option anymore. I think you would just add a member now. If you decide to open up membership, you might want to think about a sift talk post to let people know. I'm sure you'll find more willing help and probably create a some more exposure for the playlist.

Have you ever thought about making a group playlist for TEDtalks? Might reduce the workload on you by allowing others to add to the playlist.
