It's a good thing he took over when he did; one more stop light or traffic sign and she might have popped a tire! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Oh wait, they're Polyglass tires, which are woman-proof. Whew.

Lawsuit After Guy Tasered 6 Times For Crooked License Plate

MarineGunrock says...

Maybe you missed the earlier comment where @Hive13 was pulled over for a crooked plate. Maybe all the cop wanted to do was fix the plate for the guy before he lost it and would have to incur a replacement fee. Maybe he was pulling him over as a simple personal courtesy to say that, much as I would tell someone at a stop light. The difference is that the cop has the benefit of the lights to get they guy's attention.>> ^peggedbea:

meh, yeah... sometimes we're called anti-authoritarians... it's not cop-hate on a personal level... it's cop-hate as an ideological platform. google that shit.
was the dude a dumbshit for getting out of his car? you bet.
do i still dislike police and find this traffic stop/ the societal punishment paradigm we exist in abhorrent? you bet.
do i hate the culture that constructs these kinds of scenarios? absolutely.
>> ^draak13:
I'm really quite impressed with people who really hate cops soooo much; anything of or being field law enforcement seems to immediately evoke feelings of loathing in some people, to the point where a police officer cannot be without fault. Myself and many people who admittedly lean a little anti-cop end up siding with the cop on this one, but there are so many anti-cop people who are so far polarized against police that they still can't see any cop doing right...even when the officer deserves commendation for sticking to their training so well.
I dare anyone to post a police confrontation video in which they feel the cop was completely justified. Try posting a video where the police officer was not covering any sort of gray area of correctness in handling the situation, but in which every action was completely justified and necessary. Try posting a video where we feel empathy and satisfaction for the cop. I bet you'll be amazed at how many people will still hate the officer for what they did.

Rand Paul Flip Flops on Civil Rights Act, Blames Media

longde says...

I would say you're right, but for 50 years of successful prosecution of civil rights law. I don't think you realize how fucked up it was before both public and private agitation against private sector racism.

No, our society isn't perfect, and racism certainly hasn't been wiped out, but most of us feel its much better than when some slice of property rights were put over racial equality.

By your logic, because some people run stop lights, we should remove the stop light.>> ^GeeSussFreeK:

^But that is just the point, even with laws, people can still get away with institutional racism. If I don't want to hire someone because he is black, then I could just fabricate any number or disqualifications for him. The same goes for drugs, anyone that wants drugs can get them. Anyone that wants to engender racist store policies can usually get away with it, for awhile at least. So you turn him into a criminal as the solution, just as the drug user becomes a criminal. You don't fight racism with laws, if anything that emboldens it. You fight it by heros like the people you mentioned standing up and saying they aren't going to take it anymore. I don't question the goal, I question the means.
(and I apologies about my tone earlier, it was meant to add some levity but it could be taken as sarcasm)

Seems they understand how to make cars and bicycles, but not the rules governing how they handle. Here in my state in the USA, after the third accident, SOMETHING, would be done. Short term would be to place traffic cops and signs. Long term, paint the roads, add stop lights, and more signs informing motorists of the type of intersection ahead.

Cops Caught Plotting To Frame Motorist

Wow. What a bunch of fucking idiots. Don't most if not all states have an automatically at-fault law for those that rear-end others? I don't care if she was drunk, high, shooting up and giving road head all at the same time. When ever you rear end somebody, it's YOUR fault for not paying attention and/or following too closely.

My dad rear-ended a guy and it was ruled the other guy's fault. It might have had something to do with him parking in the travel lane of a curve on a major highway with no lights on to talk to someone on the other side of the median.
I've also been hit from behind at fairly high speed while sitting still at a stop light, causing me to hit the guy in front of me. I've also seen others pull out in front of a vehicle just quickly enough that the vehicle impacts them from behind.
Hitting someone from behind does not automatically mean you are at fault. It should be based on the situation, not a predetermined law (my opinion at least).

There's always exceptions.

liberty (Politics Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

Are speeding tickets tyrannical, then?

How about tickets for running stop lights?

Driving on the wrong side of the road?

Driving drunk?

Should those all be legal, so long as you manage to do it without damaging someone else or someone else's property?

To swerve back to taxation, the state builds roads, and does national defense, at least. Isn't refusing to pay for those stealing?

It's not like the Air Force can be selective about who receives their services.

Kings of Leon - Closer

alien_concept says...

Stranded in this spooky town,
Stop lights are swayin
And the phone lines are down
Snow is crackling cold,
She took my heart, I think she took my soul
With the moon I run,
Far from the carnage of the firey sun

Drivin' by the strangle of vain
Showin' no mercy I'll do it again
Open up your eyes
You keep on crying, baby I'll bleed you dry
Skies are beneath me
I see a storm bubbling up from the sea

And it's coming closer 2x

You sh-sh-shock my bones,
Leavin' me stranded all in love on my own
What do you think of me?
Where am I now, baby where do I sleep?
Feels so good when I'm home
2000 years of chasing takin' it's toll

And it's coming closer 4x

It's a pain in the ass for pedestrians to try to cross busy 35mph roads that have no stop signs or stop lights.

did you even see the video?

Yes, and I'm talking about where I live, of course. You must have more considerate drivers over there.

It's a pain in the ass for pedestrians to try to cross busy 35mph roads that have no stop signs or stop lights because less than 1% of the drivers around here will stop to let pedestrians cross.

Road Rage Knock Out Punch

SDGundamX says...

I had something similar happen to me once. Guy jumped out his car at a stop light because he felt I'd cut him off. I just drove away and left him standing there, but I will admit, when someone tries to get in your face like that the adrenaline starts pumping and makes you really want to get of your car and teach the guy a lesson like this guy did.

EDIT:

Also, watching this again, it looks to me like the guy in the hoodie turned his head to look at the approaching police car when he got cold-clocked. A little bit of irony/poetic justice there.

Grandma's Reliant K-Car Drag Races Turbo Supra

Memorare says...

bah, the current generation of underpowered 3rd world street racing mini cars is pathetic. Oh yeah, all kinds of cutout vroom-vroom at stop lights, then when you step on the gas they're all in the dust of your 20 year old K-Car.
