The Films of Edgar Wright

Simon Pegg was the creative force behind Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, the "Don't" trailer and Hot Fuzz. Edgar Wright just made it look good on film. I learned this by seeing Scott Pilgrim. Looked great, but wow, what a terrible film.

Well, it didn't have the same comedic sensibilities as his films with Simon Pegg, but I really enjoyed it. And if you've watched any of the making-of content on his films with Simon Pegg, he's definitely more involved in the creative process (writing, editing, etc), than you are giving him credit for.

Stephen Fry on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson

Seeing this combination... I guess Ferguson seems one of the few British comedians to cross over? Maybe Simon Pegg and Ricky Gervais count as well, but it does suddenly strike me how little overlap there is between British and American comedy.
EDIT: And Hugh Laurie.

I don't think that Craig Ferguson was particularly popular in the UK, at least not outside Scotland. I (from the UK) hadn't heard of him before seeing him on VS. Looking on Wikipedia, it seems that he had a TV programme made over here, but only a one off pilot that didn't make it to a series.

Derren Brown attends dinner party, blows minds

curiousity says...

I've watched a small marathon of Derren Brown lately. Fascinating stuff!

He really is a master of how the subconscious works. If you want to see an example of how one trick works, watch:
http://www.videosift.com/video/Derren-Brown-Trick-Explained

The pin number could have been involuntary muscle response in the person's hand. If you watch the video again, you will notice that Derrin is staring at the hand to look for responses. The word game... I don't know, but I've seen Derren's style and he typically sets people up subconsciously for his tricks.

A great example:
