One episode they shot a bowling ball out of a cannon and it bounced up and over the nearby hill at the range. I'm figuring they tried to stop that from happening with the water barrels and like Winstonfield said (oh man, I just threw up in my mouth a little, I agreed with him on something) it probably broke a restraint or something and lifted.

and while I agree that he should have just made the shot, even the announcer says "wise move, missed the free throw"... really either way the chances of them making the 3 were so small... Well, they played the odds.


With a missed free throw, it was highly unlikely Florida would make a winning shot.
With a hit free throw, it was somewhat more likely that they would make a tying shot, since the ball would go in at half-court.

Don't want to sound like a smartass, but that was a last ditch effort to equalize the match, hence why after he scores you can hear the full time whistle.

It wasn't even scoring that made him the best. In the '98 finals he gave them the lead in the dying minutes by stealing the ball from Malone(the Jazz 'star' player) and making shots both before and after the steal. Down by 3 with time running out? No worries, Jordan will hit his shot, steal the ball back and hit another. Simply unbelievable.

The timing on that is what is so impressive... seems like it would be a tough shot if the ball were placed on a tee... hitting it so perfectly on the fly is quite impressive. Nice post.
