Star Wars Detours

Next generation Sim City -World trailer

SevenFingers says...

I will be buying the special edition. I hated 2000 and 3000. But the first sim city on SNES and sim city 4 were badass. I'm pretty sure my social life died from these games... and Civiliazation... and counter strike... and Battlefield... and Ceaser III... and GTA... and Roller Coaster Tycoon... and Railroad Tycoon... Can't forget SW X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Rebellion, Jedi outcast, Jedi Academy, Battlefront...

What If "Star Wars: Episode I" Was Good?

Porksandwich says...

As you age, pretty much all books and movies start to become copies. The thing about Star Wars is that it's got some visual stuff associated only with it, basically look at lightsabers and see if something like them were done prior to SW.

So when you see them take something that while the themes are repeated, visually the movie is really unique......and then in your lifetime just destroy it......is quite horrible.

It'd be like the old musicians, authors, artists, after living 30 years under their great creations everyone loves.......starts to ruin them by writing "sequels" or re-doing the original work and insisting people watch only the new updated versions. And let's be honest, some musicians have come back to ruin their image or release music DRASTICALLY different than their original stuff. But at least they haven't went back and tried to erase the original versions of their music with "updated" stuff.

Mass Effect 3: Take Earth Back - Cinematic Trailer

Just to be clear... I loved Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 (until the final boss). I also loved Dragon Age Origins, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, SW:TOR, and NWN. I didn't care much for the gameplay of Jade Empire, but I still bought the following games from your company.
So if what you take away from my comments is that I'm just some schmuck who blankly doesn't like anything your company does, you are wrong. >> ^CrushBug:
Hey, fair enough. You don't like the games and you don't like the company. Got it. Moving on...

LOL, I was implying EA, not BioWare And for the record, I don't think anyone is a schmuck. In fact, half the time I want to invite people down to the pub on the main floor and talk video games with them as most forums don't allow for enough clarity or flow of conversation. Then I forget I am on the internet and you could be on the other side of the world.

We have certainly made our mistakes over the years, as a company, and we try and learn from them and make things better. Sometimes we succeed, sometimes not. But we keep trying and moving forward. Game development hasn't gotten any easier over the years, but it certainly has gotten a lot more interesting!

Maybe you will like some of our future games, and we can suck you back in at that time.

Mass Effect 3: Take Earth Back - Cinematic Trailer

NetRunner says...

Game isn't out yet -- this is just a trailer.

But I'm worried about whether they'll be able to deliver the goods on this one too. Dragon Age 2 was a big letdown, and I've already grown tired of SW:TOR.

However, ME1 and ME2 were both absolutely awesome. ME2 didn't have the kind of plot I expected the sequel to ME1 to have, but ME3 sounds like it's gonna bear more similarity to 1's storyline than 2's. It's also supposed to lay to rest a lot of long-running storylines (Geth vs. Quarrian conflict, the Krogan genophage, etc.), not just the Reaper/Sheppard storyline.

Lots of high expectations on this one. I hope they pull it off.

Huh. Yeah I love this series, but I'm unimpressed with the direction they took the final one. The first game had some amazing writing and promises of such an interesting universe. The last thing I really wanted to do was go back to earth and fight the same old enemies like an action hero.
