But Rotorua also had all the volcanic parks. They were awesome, geysers galore!
Queenstown was the epicenter of excitement when I went in 88. We bungied there, rafted and jetboated the Shotover river, flew to a glacier (Cook?), and hiked the Milford track starting and ending there. Good times....thanks dad.
And that's Rotorua on the north island. Wait till you get to the south island. That's when the fun really begins (at least in my experience).

*quality ride. Those kiwi sure know how to have fun.
A Most Epic New Zealand Road Trip
Totally jealous of every second. There's no place on earth I would rather go back to....or live in. (@ChaosEngine is totally living my dream...at least someone is)
From Rotorua to Milford Sound to all the Shotover river activities, every bit of it is simply gorgeous.
I'm tempted to put everything I own up for sale just to be able to afford a few more weeks there.
George Brannigan's mental metal winter of riding
Storming it!
Eat rocks and shit gravel bro!
Yeah, that's definitely not Rotorua, no geysers. I'm still jealous. ;-)
*Skillful riding and *quality soundtrack.
This is why we fly...
I spent a few months in New Zealand, including some nights in Rotorua and a trip down the Shotover. Rotorua is funky and reeks of sulfur from the vents everywhere, and the Shotover jet boat ride is fantastic. But the highlight was a flying lesson in a Piper Cub over Wanaka, north of Queenstown. It's a bucket list must!

Stop gloating. We all know NZ wins most beautiful country on the planet. You don't have to rub it in our faces. ;-)
Next, I want to see a Rotorua flyover....then a trip down the Shotover. Both gorgeous, the latter actually being a gorge!
Any time someone has an extra plane ticket or two to NZ to give away, I'll take them.
