TSA Security Breach: Man w/o ticket or passport flies to LAX

marbles says...

>> ^westy:

This is so fucking retardedon multiple levels .
In the end Terrorists can always and will always find a way to blow stuff up if they realy want to .
thankfully there are hardly anny terrorists in the world ( or people that actualy want to kill other people first hand) weather that be amercan or of anny nationality ( bare in mind that most terrorists in usa have actual been american) .
allso more people die on a daily basis from car accidents or cancer from smoking , obesity, or other general shit that would be greatly reduced if you spent the money that's been spent on TSA to used elsewhere.
Granted I'm not saying we don't need basic security at air ports, ultimately a passport check , luggage scan , basic metal detector , bomb sniffing dogs, and having a general awareness and education of what to look out for , Is likely to provide as much security that you need.
Also its worth baring in mind that the number of people that died in 911 was pretty much entirely due to governmental failing. Typically if a plane is hijacked and flying into a city it is shot down. I'm pretty sure that plane that crashed in country side was actually shot down and I have no idea why the us government would cover that up.

the National Safety Council notes:

-- You are 17,600 times more likely to die from heart disease than from a terrorist attack

-- You are 12,571 times more likely to die from cancer than from a terrorist attack

-- You are 11,000 times more likely to die in an airplane accident than from a terrorist plot involving an airplane

-- You are 1048 times more likely to die from a car accident than from a terrorist attack

--You are 404 times more likely to die in a fall than from a terrorist attack

-- You are 87 times more likely to drown than die in a terrorist attack

-- You are 13 times more likely to die in a railway accident than from a terrorist attack

--You are 12 times more likely to die from accidental suffocation in bed than from a terrorist attack

--You are 9 times more likely to choke to death on your own vomit than die in a terrorist attack

--You are 8 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than by a terrorist

--You are 8 times more likely to die from accidental electrocution than from a terrorist attack

-- You are 6 times more likely to die from hot weather than from a terrorist attack

More on: Maeklong Train Market

MilkmanDan says...

>> ^possom:

Which came first, the market or the train?

My wife (Thai) says that the train was there first, with the original line going in perhaps in 1905 (not 100% sure), and the market being started in 1984 according to a quick google search in Thai.

The original center of the market was in vacant area next to the train line. However, the rental prices for a market stall in that original area were set high enough that it was hard for people to make a profit. Apparently someone with the state railway service decided to rent out space adjacent to (read: *on*) the tracks at a much lower rate than the privately-owned market area. The majority of stall vendors moved onto the railway line in spite of the inconvenience of trains going through, and the "gimmick" of the train interruptions increased business from tourists both Thai and foreign.

The state railway owns all of the land that train lines run on in Thailand, and I guess that leasing out that land is very common. In the province that I live in, the land surrounding the tracks outside of town is leased out as farmland, and some of the length that runs through town has been leased out by builders that put up rows of shop-houses that are then rented out. The back walls of the shop-houses are probably 1-2 meters or so away from the tracks, so not quite as close as the market stalls you see in the video but still plenty crammed in.

So anyway, I guess that the land with railway lines is frequently utilized by 3rd parties here in Thailand, but the Maeklong market is the only place where it is encroached on in this way to be used as market space. My guess is that there are probably rules that prevent other areas from doing likewise, but that the Maeklong market got grandfathered in due to its status as a tourist attraction.

Now that's a long truck!

Some guy engineers his own 9/11 experiments

Profits in Billions from 2002 to 2003. (USA Today, 8/28/03)

What has that got to do with the towers collapse though. I don't doubt that many of the motives for occupation in the middle east are based on oil, but as an excuse to go to war 9/11 was a pretty poor one. No doubt the US government used the tragedy to justify war with Iraq, but there really was no connection and thats why I have a hard time believing they engineered the whole thing. If they can go to all this trouble to rig the buildings, get some planes to fly into and succesfully cover it up, why did they put Saudis in the planes? I think its much more likely that this was a terrorist attack and the US government scrambled to use it to their own advantage.

As for how the planes brought the buildings down, well I think I'm happy with the explanation. The fire, while not hot enough to actually melt steel, would have still weakened it sufficiently to allow it to bend and buckle. The floors pancaked and domino'd all the way down the tower. With the floors gone the walls had no support so they fell in too.

It seems to me the problem here is that there were accounts of molten metal which can't have been caused by the fire, and thats the lose end the guy in this video is trying to address. I cannot speculate how the metal melted, but I'm pretty confident that if there had been girders cut through with thermite there would have been evidence. You saw how distincive those cuts are. As for this "nanothermite", my guess would be that it was left there from contruction. Thermite is used in the contruction of railway tracks to fuse the joints together, its not impossible that a similar method was used in the contruction/repair of the towers and that it remained there (along with the balls of iron).

Anyway, tl:dr. Molten metal. Must be conspiracy. lol.
