Cat tries to revive buddy hit by a car

honkeytonk73 says...

Jesus, the merciful, loving, caring, compassionate Lord that he is, would never let such suffering exist in this world. Besides murder, auto accidents, cancer, heart failure, malaria, aids, starvation, exposure, war... etc. Such things obviously only exist because of non-believers and their pact with Satan. It's their fault. Though I still don't get how Satan somehow does bad shit and keeps countering the work of the freaking universal creator.. when Satan himself was supposedly created by God. Oh well. I guess it isn't suppose to make sense. Just believe in it. I should stop asking questions already. Those be Satan's methods.

BBC Broadcaster admits mercy killing his lover

OK, I get where he's coming from. But the bloke didn't know that Ray was carrying out their pact. That doesn't sit right with me either. If it was a plan, then make it a plan that everyone can know about. It's about living above reproach. Ray set himself up very poorly to defend his actions - legally, not necessarily morally. But legally, I think he's very screwed, and I can see why.

Washington DC Blizzard of 2010: 24 Inches Of Snow In 24h

therealblankman says...

Something happened a long time ago in DC, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the GOP, and they got together and swore a pact to Islam- they said "We will serve you if you'll get us free from the Republicans". True story. So the people revolted, elected a secret Muslim and got themselves free, but ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other. They're desperately poor. They need to have- and we need to pray for them- a great turning to God.

I like how Grayson spends 5 minutes discussing the facts on Haiti having a pact with the Devil. And then I also love how quantummushroom posts a defense by Pat Robertson. The defense is that it's a widely discussed and popular urban legend. Wow. What century am I living in?

No, I asked which programs could be cut while maintaining popular support. You're the one always going on about how we have to kill health care reform because "the american people are against it".

Would you advocate cutting those programs if public support for those cuts was low?

People apparently hate deficits, but I really can't think of anything significant that could be cut without a large public outcry (the actual public, not just fiscal conservatives). Can you think of any?

obamarx escalated the war in Afghanistan, didn't get gay marriage in the military, didn't close gitmo, didn't get communist health care passed. He's also had both the deficit and unemployment soar under his flopsweat reign. So I guess not everyone on the left gets what they want from their elected officials, either, do they?

Union-shill Grayson is up for reelection this year. I'll be sure to send $$$ to whomever is running against him, even if it's the Great Pumpkin, who has a smaller head.

press release
Statement Regarding Pat Robertson's Comments on Haiti

CBN.com – VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., January 13, 2010 -- On today’s The 700 Club, during a segment about the devastation, suffering and humanitarian effort that is needed in Haiti, Dr. Robertson also spoke about Haiti’s history. His comments were based on the widely-discussed 1791 slave rebellion led by Boukman Dutty at Bois Caiman, where the slaves allegedly made a famous pact with the devil in exchange for victory over the French. This history, combined with the horrible state of the country, has led countless scholars and religious figures over the centuries to believe the country is cursed. Dr. Robertson never stated that the earthquake was God’s wrath. If you watch the entire video segment, Dr. Robertson’s compassion for the people of Haiti is clear. He called for prayer for them. His humanitarian arm has been working to help thousands of people in Haiti over the last year, and they are currently launching a major relief and recovery effort to help the victims of this disaster. They have sent a shipment of millions of dollars worth of medications that is now in Haiti, and their disaster team leaders are expected to arrive tomorrow and begin operations to ease the suffering.

Again, what you speak does not conform to reality. You can claim anything you want, but it's not true.

I don't know where you get info saying that Reagan practiced anything close to "fiscal conservatism", but you need to re-think your sources. He bloated government, started the "war on drugs" (major, MAJOR government expansion which has cost trillions) and... oh wait. Sorry, forgot who I was replying to

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:

Note that Reagan had to deal with an overwhelmingly stacked Congress and still managed to squeeze in a lot of fiscal conservatism despite not holding the purse. Note also that the GOP took the house in 1994 on a platform of limited government and fiscal conservatism - which in turn forced Clinton to stop a lot of his leftist agenda. It would be wonderful to think what Reagan could have done to slash government if he'd had the 1994 Congress. The GOP got voted out after they abandoned fiscal conservative principles. True story, dat.

You can't help but feel sad for what those people are suffering.. however ...

If you can't find it in your heart to simply help or mourn with these people then just shut the fuck up and move on. You have no right to be "profusely annoyed" about anything. You are not one of the parents digging pieces of their children out from under rocks. Just like Robertson was wrong for that devil pact bullshit you are also wrong for chastising people who have faith. Don't share the faith? Fine. Don't belittle people who do have it though and who turn to it in a time of suffering greater than you could imagine. Really not the time or place for you to explain to the world what everyone should believe.

My comments had more to do with how CNN and other news organizations cover disaster, and the human condition to fall back on faith in times of crisis. I had a Christian fundamentalist personally tell me. "God creates natural disasters to teach us a lesson.". while in the same breath uttering "God loves us and is merciful.".

My wife and her family survived the Kobe earthquake in Japan. Far more died in that quake that in Haiti. I personally saw the results of the aftermath. The families living in temporary homes, even today there are people displaced. I have been in a few major (6-7) earthquakes and know what it is like first hand. Earthquakes are nature. Not an act of some invisible sky deity.

I have no RIGHT to be annoyed? Then you have NO RIGHT to be annoyed by my opinions either. How about that? What is that suppose to mean? No right? Please explain what that right is, and what power you or anyone else has over me or anyone else to grant or deny anyone the ability to express an opinion on the human condition? If I have no rights to an opinion, then neither do you.

Everyone has a right to an opinion. That is, unless you prefer everyone to simply shut up, lower our heads.. and hold our hands high and bow down to the will of an invisible magical overseer.

You shouldn't be angry at me. You should be angry at 'God' for letting this suffering happen. Me? I only say a few words. I don't kill thousands of people.

Haitian Ambassador Responds to Pat Robertson's Comments

Haitian Ambassador Responds to Pat Robertson's Comments

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Did some fellow named Pat Robertson really accuse haiti of having made a pact with the devil, and then haiti responded with ya we made a pact with the devil but it helped you too????

I found that somewhat remarkable as well. The Ambassador didn't actually deny the claim. That was enough to make me go read a little on the topic, and it sounds like the "deal with the devil" is mostly a slave-owner urban legend fueled by the Voodoo beliefs many of the slaves held.

Perhaps it's just not something the Haitian ambassador encounters everyday, and didn't really know how to respond without giving a generic argument about how important Haiti is to the US, which I suspect he uses a lot in his day job.

Pat Robertson - Haiti made a pact with the Devil

Trancecoach says...

Intercepted Correspondence Letter from Satan to Pat Robertson:

Dear Pat Robertson,

I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I'm all over that action.

But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I'm no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished. Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth -- glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle.

Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven't you seen "Crossroads"? Or "Damn Yankees"? If I had a thing going with Haiti, there'd be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox -- that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style.

Nothing against it -- I'm just saying: Not how I roll. You're doing great work, Pat, and I don't want to clip your wings -- just, come on, you're making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad. Keep blaming God. That's working. But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract.

Best, Satan

Lily Coyle, Minneapolis
