The Stephen Colbert Objectivist Children's Sleepover

elysse says...

And suddenly I'm thinking 2 things:

"Hurry up, Mr. B. Angels don't wait for slowpokes!"

and

"FILL YOUR CRAVING AT THE CIRCUS OF VALUE!!"

(It's got to be because I'm replaying it, though. I just got the PS3 version so my PC copy can have someone to talk to other than that schizo Orange Box. ;-) )

i bet yer machine would play the second half-life...that was fun.

BUT, after you upgrade get F.E.A.R..... it's an awesome game.... maybe even Quake IV

Actually was able to run those OK. Got HL2 Orange Box, Quake IV, played FEAR. The only thing my machine doesn't really fun are the latest games that came out in the last year or so, ie. CoD4, STALKER, UT3, etc.

It's a P4 3.2 (no duo/quad proc) with 2GB PC3200 and a BFG Tech Nvidia 7800 (still AGP). So it's definitely an older rig, but still handles everything say....pre-'07 pretty good. Eventually I'll upgrade but it won't be for awhile as I'm putting myself through school on my own. I make too much to get grants, etc, but not enough to go full time and get it done and over with fast. I'm thinking I'll have to upgrade for when Fallout 3, GTA4 and Left4Dead hit. Definitely upgrade for L4D.

#1 WTF MOMENT IN VIDEO GAME HISTORY

SON OPENING "THE ORANGE BOX" ON CHRISTMAS MORNING... to find out that a Wal-Mart inside job with a razor knife had carefully slit the package open and stolen the disc out, preserving all anti-theft labeling visually.

Meet the Sniper

Damn these are good, for so many reasons:
* Funny as all hell
* Great direction
* Just incredible in game graphics, I mean look at them, the animation is just sublime!
* More enjoyable than the game itself (oooh, I'll get flamed for that)

Really... I own the game (as part of the orange box), and I don't much care for it, being repeatedly reamed by teenagers doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

But man... these are brilliant.

TF2 - New Medic Weapons and Goldrush

mas8705 says...

Why are so many people complaining about achievements? I'll have you know I have a score over 50k on xbox live and I am respected by anyone I play with or against...

As far as I see, TF2 was already a great game on the orange box, and I hope we get to see more updates soon on the 360 if not PC for sure... The Medic's new tools look fun and earning the achievements will show that you are commited to being the best... that and I really hope that they do the same thing with the other eight classes... (imagines engineer with lasers, double minigun heavy, demoman with sticks, and improved Spy)

TF2 - New Medic Weapons and Goldrush

Bigboomer says...

I hate it, because they lied.

They abandoned TF2 A LONG time ago. When BF2 was released, the concept of Tf2 basically died. So they sat on it for years, without doing a thing.

After source came out, the constant slandering of TF2 / Dnf (The games that never were), they wipped up a rehash of the olf TFC (something Tf2 was NOT suppose to be) and threw it out the door as quick as they could to meet up with Portal / Orange box.

Now they're in a hole. Nobody plays Tf2 anymore, it's dying quickly. So they're trying to improve the game, by actually attempting to develop it. Too little, too late.

You had 7 years to work on it, and all you released was a good mod. Now your modding your mod.

What is your favorite genre of game to play? (Videogames Talk Post)

spoco2 says...

I used to love rts/strategy type games (C&C, Dune II, Civilisation, Railway Tycoon, Syndicate etc. etc.)

However now that I have a job, and a family etc. time is seriously limited for game playing, so I've turned to games that give instant fun and can be picked up and put down quickly... so FPS is where it's at for me. Bioshock and the Half Life 2 games are my current lot.

The Crysis demo was pretty awesome too, but seeing as I've owned the orange box for months now and haven't even started HL2 ep2, I can't justify buying that... or Gears of war for the PC for that matter.

So I still do love an RTS and other such games (in my youth I LOVED adventure games, not so much now)... but time somewhat dictates what I can play.

Zero Punctuation Review: Turok

Even my 15 year old nephew agrees that Halo is over rated and really not all that good. I ask him 'then why the hell do you play it?' and his reply is simply

'Cause theres nothing better on the xbox360 right now.'

SO I bought him a copy Orange Box PC for his birth-day.

Needless to say he hasn't played Halo 3 since.

Holy shit, I just got this game earlier, and I have to say, it's the most fun I've had since getting the Orange Box. I just played for a few hours straight. Best 10 bucks I've spent in ages.

Man, the Sift should somehow get commissions for all this promotional assistance we give.

But then, are we in it for the money, or the joy spreading? Seems like it's the joy spreading. Unless dag really needs some money, in which case, talking should be done with... someone.
