Spoiler #1: It turns out that Jake was dead the whole time, and that the Na'vi were all ghosts.

Spoiler #2: Midway through the film, a quick pan of Neytiri's naked body reveals that she is actually a he.

Spoiler #3: Colonel Miles Quaritch cryptically whispers 'rosebud' in the opening scene of the film, which we eventually learn is actually the name of his childhood sled, symbolically representing the lost innocence of youth he so dearly longed for.

Spoiler #4: After discovering the Statue of Liberty protruding from a Pandoran Lake, Dr. Grace Augustine realizes that they've been on Earth the entire time!

Spoiler #5: Darth Vader reveals that he is in fact James Cameron's father.

Holy Smokes - Avatar is a Hell of a Movie (Blog Entry by dag)

I was not that thrilled by the trailers, but was still psyched to see it just because it is James Cameron and there's nothing he's done that I haven't loved.

I completely agree with you Dag, it was SENSATIONAL. Absolutely agree on the CG thing, the Na'vi were completely believable, the world was stunning, the creatures amazing, and the story was a rip roaring adventure.

And I saw it on the 3rd largest screen in the world (Melbourne IMAX) in 3D... quite frankly I think it was a little too large as some of the action sequences were hard to watch.

But man the 3D was incredible, and ... well, I'm going to see it again this week, just stunning film... stunning.

I have been looking forward to this for a long time. James Cameron is always on the cuttin' edge! However, I'm looking forward to the sequel where Pandora become the new free world and the Na'vi open a lucrative casino operation.

>> ^brain:
Why are they speaking English?

Ah. Asked by generations of Star Trek, Stargate and Star Wars fans, not necessarily in that order.
The only SciFi that solved this to my liking is Farscape. And the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

A possible explanation here would be that the Na'vi are speaking their own language, and you hear English because American audiences can't handle subtitles. Then the only question is how does Sam Worthington's character speak Na'vi?

>> ^demon_ix: By the way, to any World of Warcraft players out there. Do the forest floating islands remind anyone of Nagrand, and do the Na'vi remind anyone of Draenei?

Personally, the floating pieces of land reminded me of Skyland.

And while this trailer doesn't do a huge amount for me, I'm uber excited about this... it's JAMES FRICKEN CAMERON people!

Bah. Couldn't resist watching it, despite wanting to know as little about it as possible...
I'm not sure I approve of the extreme use of CGI, but I do like the look of the movie.

By the way, to any World of Warcraft players out there. Do the forest floating islands remind anyone of Nagrand, and do the Na'vi remind anyone of Draenei?
