It should be stated that Brussels is an entirely different culture from the rest of Belgium. Brussels is surrounded by Flanders, where they all speak Dutch, but once you go into Brussels, it really is a different culture (not only ethnically, but also linguistically - French is spoken in Brussels instead of Dutch). Brussels has very large Moroccan and Turkish populations (~26%), which are machismo cultures on steroids.

Dressage and jumping, how excellent, and very impressive to me. I'm sorry to hear about that which caused the cessation of your riding.

Finland. Sounds incredible. What mounts did you sit. The impressive Finnhorse of which I have only read, and a long time ago at that?

The preponderance of my riding was Western. Quarter horses primarily, Morgans, and a Moroccan Barb. Tack was Spanish/Mexican style ropers, Texas double rigged with swell fork, Spanish parade/show. Used a snaffle uniquely among my friend's and family. I liked the crazy horses. Rode English a little. Best friend and neighbor had tack. I liked it. Jumped a little. More on western rig. My Quarter horses hated it when I would set them up to have to jump, rough with a swell and horn.

I thought I would always ride....

This was back when I was in Finland, started when I was 10, and had to quit around 18 after my dad died. I have never tried riding western style Would be awesome to try it, though.

I did some dressage, but show jumping was my passion. I wasn't successful at the national level, but in local shows I kicked some butt!

As has been stated more than enough times, we're missing half the story in this video. We can all debate the "What if's", but you can't argue an "if". What if he had started the confrontation? Yeah, well, what if he hadn't? Maybe she had made some anti-French/Moroccan crack and he told her to stick a hot dog up her butt. Maybe she didn't. That's the point. We'll never know until we get the whole story.

But that doesn't change the fact that if you say something nasty to someone, expect the repercussions. Don't confuse that with VALIDATING what he did. But you sure aren't going to douse someone with a beer and walk away. NOBODY here would have just walked away, let's be honest.

I apologize for the misconception. Machismo is a real part of Spanish culture. If he is in fact "French-Moroccan" he's got the Islamic view of women...which apparently is that they can be swept and knocked to the ground. I guess she should be grateful she wasn't beheaded...
