to me end result looked a bit naff.
I mean bit of an arse to make but seems a bit tacky I guess you are just gona eat it and its for a buffet table its not really meant to be high art.
this is like the food equivalent of them space spray painted images. only at least this is edible.

I dont understand what you are saying.

and intemrs of the artistic merits of this its a very procedural method to produce this , i dont have an issue with it but i dobt evan the artist rates it realy highely probably just enjoys making roses with water mellons nothing wrong with that .

Interms of complexty and origonalty this dose not rate very highely , but then again thats not to say that sumone might realy enjoy this and the guy making it might realy enjoy it.

I was simply voicing my personal prefrences in that if i was going to do this id probably want to do something more origonal and something that to me would make it more apealing to eat , but if this was intended for a buffet then i can emgin it would go down realy well so its fine for that and again if it makes the guy happy thats making it happy then thats fine as well.

Neill Blomkamp of District 9 Talks about (real) aliens

shagen454 says...

These are interesting theories about the future of mankind. But I would never hold my breath for the human race to give up their traditions and beliefs systems, not too mention power, profit ie capitalism to enjoy a knowledge-based transcendence into the universe. And I doubt many would be comfortable with handing over control to any sort of AI system - self-aware or not.

I really hope we are able to get off this planet and accelerate our search into the universe. We may be in luck with that new plasma engine that could take 8-9 days to reach Mars. But we will need to send someone up there first which will take a year, I think? And then send resources and continue planet hopping that way until we actually have some sort of efficient technology for exploring. Why we haven't begun colonizing is beyond me. We can fantasize about humankind evolving and what may be out their but we still have many minuscule steps to take before we reach the real stairwell that will lead us anywhere at all.

I honestly think we'll be eradicated before we ever take the minuscule steps needed. It's a pity that the hive-minded Formicidae colonies are probably exploring space without even recognizing it's magnificence.

eh?
considering the enormity of the task at hand, i'd say search engines do a pretty darn good job

well done video though.. if the actions were more believable one might mistake it as an episode of cops or something

Chinese Scientist Seeks to Prove Independent Origin

Imagine what Hitler would have done with such knowledge about the origins of the so-called Arian race. From AFRICA!? WHAT?!

LOL

It's human nature to blindly think one's self as unique, special, blessed, or looked higher upon by some magical invisible extra-dimensional deity.

Face up to it people. We are all fucking carbon copies of one another with minuscule variations brought about by chance gene mutation.

Your shit stinks just as bad as mine does. Get over it.

Al Gore to GOP Wingnut: "You Don't Know Me"

shagen454 says...

Hah, "ultra left". If you consider the Obama administration as anything other than center then you're political spectrum and ideologies are significantly minuscule. The real left is an expensive endeavor, yes ; and if it ever happens the culture, lifestyle and mentally of the majority would be healthier and happier. Maybe they do not have the foresight, since right-wingers lack much of the knowledge and head strength to handle anything but a culture less life ; but it would make right-wingers have something to live other for than their guns, trucks, guilt, sin, burgers, corporate mainstream bullshit and a holy book of made up fables. Imagine all the happy people just at the beginning of that iceberg.

I only discovered of this series, by watching one of the videos hehe. Their videos are amazingly and creatively created. It all just very fun stuff and I love how they made their insects fit in their world.

>> wiki:
Minuscule is a growing collection of short animations that follow the day-to-day existence of anthropomorphic insects. The characters are modelled on computer in 3D and are then set against real scenery. Each animation has a short, self contained and often humorous storyline. The audio is a combination of genuine insect and ambient recordings, and sound effects such as car or helicopter or aircraft engines, synthesized buzzings etc. Throughout each episode, no (human) words are ever spoken, Nevertheless, Anthropogenic 'insect like words' are often trumpeted by the various protagonist insects. The background settings are mostly of rural France, and include farm houses, fences, cars, road surfaces, drains, gutters and garbage bins. Humans themselves appear only peripherally (if at all) & the only consistent peripheral witnesses to many of the goings~on, are cows that appear as disinterested bystanders.

Well, define 'little bit'.

By any measurement, that thing just shifted the planets rotation a tiny bit...probably not measurable by current day sensors, but definatley definable by current day mathematical models. It would be minuscule however.

Christian Rock: Condoms Are Not Safe!

spoco2 says...

OK, so... obvious issues with this horrendous 'song':
85% effective?: Ok, I'm finding about 98% as the actual figure. I think you can get as low as 85% if you include people who rip or tear the condom and still use it, or leave it on until it slips off in the woman... but using as directed? 85% is a very low figure indeed.

Showing babies hooked up to ventilators etc.: If the woman in the video DID get pregnant, she'd be far more likely to have a healthy baby than all these 40+ women who are starting their families these days. She's at the prime physical age for having babies. (I'm not saying emotionally, just physically) So that's just emotive crap right there.

Prostitutes?: What the? What the hell do they have to do with anything? You have sex with your girlfriend and you instantly start using prostitutes? ooooo K

People with 1 2 3 and 4: What? Kids? Um... ok, gee, terrible that. Who'd want to have a kid? Ok. (Or are they referring to abortions, in which case... highly inflammatory comment and statistically very small in terms of the target audience)

Using HIV figures: With a condom, the risk of getting HIV/AIDS is so minuscule it's hardly worth mentioning. It's a smaller risk than getting pregnant. (OK, I haven't actually checked that, I'm prepared to be proved wrong on that front) In fact, there are couples where one partner is HIV positive, the other not, and they still have sex... the other partner is risking a life threatening disease... but condoms make this a very viable option because of how safe they are.

Look, if you want to abstain due to whatever reason (emotional, physical, whatever), all well and good, it is better than having sex very early... BUT Don't go and preach your crap to everyone else.

There are a host of unhappy couples around who married before ever having sex (due to religion and stupid people like these), who then discover they are... incompatible, not in sync, don't enjoy it that much.

YES don't treat sex lightly, but at the same time (and here is just MY opinion here, not preaching), I think it's better to have had at least some experience before you finally settle on your life partner.

I hate christian rock.... hate it.

According to their website, Americorp pays you a modest salary that's enough to pay your bills.

Regarding the military, only a small percentage of the millions of serving men and women will ever kill someone, become permanently injured on the job, or spend the rest of their lives trying to forget something they've done. This isn't Vietnam. If you're concerned about those things, join the Air Force, Navy, or Coast Guard where the odds of those things happening to you are minuscule.

sounds like a mild phobia of flying. I've never had problems flying, except for the low head-space a minuscule leg room (Anyone 5'7" or taller can attest to that). My first experience on a plane was when my parents sent me and my sister alone on a plane to visit grandparents. We laughed and giggled when we experienced turbulence. To us it was a new, exciting experience.

Though you'll never get me on a roller coaster. To each his own.

"Emily" - Image Metrics Tech Demo

To me the amazing thing isn't really how realistic it looks, but how there is still definitely something uncanny about it. Its truly weird and fascinating to be able to notice every single minuscule discrepancy in the cg so effortlessly.

It reminds of a video about neurological phenomena, specifically a disorder in which the ability to recognise faces is impaired. Sufferers are incapable of recognising their own mother, but more than that they are often repulsed and distrustful of them because the brain thinks the face it sees is an imposter. (I think sufferers can still recognise faces, but the link pairing facial recognition to memory is damaged, so they see a familiar face, but don't recognise it as their mother.)

Anyway, I suppose our ability to recognise an imposter isn't as bizarre as our repulsion to the imposter. Why have we evolved to be quite so wary of things trying to be human?
