IBM's Watson supercomputer destroys all humans in Jeopardy
>> ^spawnflagger:
From the latter half of the video it seems Watson will only buzz in if the probability of a correct answer is very high (green). If they set the cut-off lower, say 60%, it would have buzzed in much more often.
By the title of the video, I assumed that "destroy" meant the humans would have 0 points... It would have been much more intimidating if they had a "Cyberdyne Systems Model 101" standing between the 2 humans instead of a screensaver.
KILL KILL KILL!

You can only buzz in after the answer is read.
Didn't they used to in the past? What happens if you did it early?
I think there might be a delay before you can buzz again. So it is disadvantageous to buzz early.

I'm not 100% on the rules; are they free to press their button before the "answer" is finished being read? Like, someone offstage presses a button to allow answering once the announcer finishes reading? I say this because it appears that Ken is trying to buzz in exactly when the announcer finishes (though I suppose its more likely he just wants to make sure he's getting the whole clue).
Also is Watson listening AND getting a video stream of the clues? (edit; news articles appear to indicate Watson only listens)
I have seen players use the buzzer before Alex Trebek finishes, but that was many years ago. I don't know if that rule was changed.

Chick is wearing a choker. That means she's game.
I'm inclined to agree with that assessment.

wow...I'd really like to see the full version.
My favorite final jeopardy category has always been "World History". You're supposed to make a wager on your knowledge, but for this category the clue could be ANYTHING THAT EVER HAPPENED.
I need to see the full version of this so I know if I need to change favorites.

Not to rain on your Apple hate-fest, but couldn't HTML5 possibly spell the end for Flash on the web? I think that Steve Jobs is as big of a egomaniacal dickface as the next guy does, but isn't there a reasonable chance that he's right? If Flash went the way of the dodo on the web, that would severely weaken Flash in general, wouldn't it? And developing on a weakened platform would be a gamble of sorts, right?
I don't claim to be any kind of expert. That's why I framed my response in the form of questions. That, and I also watch Jeopardy a lot.
Bradford Football Disaster - Raw Footage
I was just about to post this myself. What sickens me about this is all the people smiling and cheering as if it's something to celebrate. I wonder if they were still celebrating when their own friends were burning alive.
Once I saw the fire spread so quickly, I would be concerned that I would not be able to get out of the stadium in time. I don't understand why people are laughing and cheering when it's clear their lives are in jeopardy.
