Fat cat climbs ladder

id49606 says...

>> ^shponglefan:
On the one hand that video is kind of cute.
On the other hand, it makes me sad when cat owners let their cats become so obese. It just means that poor cat will more likely suffer needless health problems in the future.

Yep, cause having your cat climb a latter doesn't count as exercise.

I have a cat that's actually bigger than this one. Got him from a shelter at a shade under 30 lbs, after he'd lost 8 lbs since arrival at the shelter. It takes a lot of effort(or lack of), theft of food, ingenuity, and bullying of the other cats for him to stay that fat. I'd be almost proud at his efforts, if he wasn't attempting a guiness record for the fattest ass.

Pushing for a Green Collar Economy in the USA

quantumushroom says...

Government doesn't create jobs or wealth. It's an octopus that can't free up a single tentacle to wipe its own ass, and if it wants to "help" it will STFU and get out of the way, it's not like it won't be around to tax everything later.

There was a time in America when the people didn't wait for some clueless commie "czar" to declare What Shall Be Done and how to do it.

The people harnessed their own ingenuity and used hard work to achieve goals or fail in the attempt. Many failed along the way, they were allowed to; their failures weren't then propped up by bailouts and unworkable ideologies in the name of "social justice."

If there's money to be made in a "Green Economy" (or develop one) it will be made by individuals with a profit motive and a dream, not czartards.

Star Trek TNG recut: Wesley Crusher must die

This is my (supposed 1000th vote thanks to the debacle that shall not be named) 1000th vote, so you should feel elated beyond all compare: I only vote for works of art, triumphs of human ingenuity, the epitome of human stupidity--and to what lengths it goes, feats that are near superhuman in nature, movies that wrench your soul, music that feeds your soul, and the feces that monkies throw.

May you shine bright in this engulfment of recognition!

Bravo, sir, bravo....

(it would have made a better tribute if it was not krono, as his star points and ego are near super-critical levels already,)

Glenn Beck: Frog-Gate

GeeSussFreeK says...

Not sure I entirely agree with that. I usually see political correctness as half-truthful and side stepping; ingenue. If someone thinks that a political ideology is going to ruin the nation, I would see it as his job to say it directly and passionately. Glenn is both energetic, sarcastic, playful and unrelenting. Sometimes his judgments are incorrect and he will face the music when he finds out. He isn't a well education man, but that is a point he fully admits, frequently. He is however an examiner. He probes things very thoroughly with all outcome being voiced, no matter how absurd, war gaming out all the possible solutions. I have been on the opposite side of his views on things, but I didn't find him to be breaking the golden rule of sorts, then again, I am sarcastic and kinda insensitive at times.

I view most of the hate as a difference of personality mixed with different ideology. He is a nice dude though, there are other talking heads whom are more modest in their mannerisms that I would never care to meet, just nothing there to like. Glenn is pretty polarizing though.

The Simpsons take on Ayn Rand & Right-Wingers

^I think the point is that ingenuity and productivity have a moral quality to them for their role in building our society. If objectivists tend to perform so well, they must be doing something right, and that's my take on why they're so motivated.

American Ace Takes on Half the Luftwaffe

chilaxe says...

This is a story not just about Candelaria's performance, but also about the enormous amount of work and ingenuity on the part of scientists to create his machine of war, and on the part of planners to get the pilots like Candelaria excellently trained and in the right location at the right time.

I take offense to him saying "what [Americans] always do is just steal the best things..." I think he's confusing corporatists with American ingenuity like, oh I don't know, the automobile...

Not to detract from American ingenuity, but the Germans invented the automobile.

What Americans did was mass-produce them and make 'em affordable. It's actually a great example of what Americans are usually ingenious about.

Oh, and you're the one confusing what Moore said with some sort of knock on America's ability to innovate. Often times businesses imitate and incorporate the successful innovations of their competitors. If anything I think Moore is giving America praise for a trait it plainly does not have when it comes to politics.

France has the #1 healthcare system in the world, according to the WHO, but what does a significant minority of Americans fear? A healthcare system like the one in France.

Learning from the successes of others is a fundamental human strategy -- we should do a bit more of it where it really matters.

Fuck this asshole. He's got an agenda and he's pushing it however he sees fit regardless of things called facts.

That's not what the head of CIGNA's PR department says.

Which studies? Also, just because he's saying things you find agreeable doesn't mean he's right.
I take offense to him saying "what [Americans] always do is just steal the best things..." I think he's confusing corporatists with American ingenuity like, oh I don't know, the automobile, the airplane, the artificial heart, the moving image (film), lasers, video games (hello!), and the fucking Internet. I think it would be more apt to say just because he's saying things you find disagreeable doesn't mean he's wrong.

The only thing he said that was debatable was that he said "steal" and "always"... and he used those words on the fly to try to convince a Canadian of his point when asked a mildly hostile question. Other than his choice of words we are a culture known for being a melting pot of cultures and ideas. Most of the American achievements you mentioned either weren't or were partly internationally developed.

Blankfist, whether you take the time to bring some good arguments or leave it. It's not like you couldn't do better then that.

"all the studies have shown..." (you'd agree I'm sure with "some" studies ?)

Which studies? Also, just because he's saying things you find agreeable doesn't mean he's right. (doesn't mean he's wrong either... meanwhile you bring absolutely no argument except for his use of hyperbole and this is not an article for Nature, it's a press conference)

I take offense to him saying "what [Americans] always do is just steal the best things..." (same thing : always doesn't mean only here)

I think he's confusing corporatists with American ingenuity like, oh I don't know, the automobile, the airplane, the artificial heart, the moving image (film), lasers, video games (hello!), and the fucking Internet. Fuck this asshole. He's got an agenda and he's pushing it however he sees fit regardless of things called facts. (YOU bring no fact to criticize him... you're doing it on the only basis of his use of hyperbole)

Hey, I've just learnt this word through a search on wikipedia and feel VERY intelligent to able to use it. And this too is an hyperbole...

7/15/09 - Glenn Beck Reaches a Whole New Octave of Crazy

Drachen_Jager says...

A lottery system? Man I have to run out and buy a ticket.

What is he on?

If they have all the counter-arguments and all the facts and logic wrapped up in a neat package then why not use it on the show? He rants about the book and how it's got a wonderful counter-argument but doesn't let everyone in on the secret?

Also, is he saying that the United States, the richest country in the world can't afford something Cuba has managed for decades? Cuban ingenuity I guess, Americans just aren't smart enough to figure it out huh?

Wow - Talk about Watery Diarrhea!

dannym3141 says...

^ Sure

You're playing the SIMS, you need to die a slow horrible painful death for allowing EA to teabag you repeatedly in the face whilst you sit there, open mouthed for the grand phallic phinale. For continually buying the trash that this terrible, terrible company attaches their name to like a vampiric leech, your eyes have assaulted your brain. They are unhappy with the years of abuse you have put them through whilst playing this game. As your optic nerve snakes its way towards your brain, it picks up electrical signals which translate as spewing gushes of water.

There is an operation to help, but unfortunately it costs exactly the same amount as the combined price of the 3000000000000 addons that EA shat out for the game which you bought, each costing more than a fantastically designed and developed indie game - which will never get the respect it deserves for ingenuity and gaming fun, so you can't afford it anymore.
