Someone doesn't want Big Brother watching over him anymore..

Oblivion - Trailer - Tom Cruise

cosmovitelli says...

Yet another 21st Century US movie where a bourgeoisie asshole belatedly realizes he's been prosecuting nightmares for the psychotic banking class but can heroically make up for it with yet more violence.

Can't we go back to muscle bound imperial troops slaughtering dirty little brown men and getting the blonde? Its no dumber and was much more fun.. Come back Arnie all is forgiven!!

U.S. Soldier Survives Taliban Gunfire During Firefight

I was wondering why he was out in the open too. Then I read the video description... did you guys?

His post-hoc rationalization of what he was doing doesn't help matters. He acted in a really dumb way. If he's so heroic, then why did he get himself shot, then hole up in a position where the cavalry would have to run through the same hail of bullets to rescue him, shouting "Medic! I'm hit!" over and over.

No, what he says after the fact simply ain't true. He panicked, he thought he was superhuman, he just wasn't thinking straight, he suffered from a lack of training.

And no, I'm not getting this from my FPS experience, but from my Army experience and Veteran status. What he did was wrong, it endangered his life and the lives of his squad-mates. First off, they weren't pinned down by machine-gun fire, I only heard single shots and short bursts incoming. Secondly, fighting a hit-and-fade enemy like the Taliban, being "pinned down" is not a bad place to be. If you wait them out they'll take to the hills. They don't want to wait for the airstrike they know is coming. Third, by running down the hill and getting shot he forced some of his guys to come get him, endangering their lives. Lastly, he said in his blurb he was under the command of an Lt. yet he didn't wait for an order, nor did he appear to be acting on an order, he just ran off with his cock in his hand and a big "shoot me" sign on his chest and left it to his allies to come clean up the mess.

Ah-ah's Back

FlowersInHisHair says...

I lost my favourite bear, Toby, for about 6 hours once, I'd taken him out to play and left him behind. I was frantic, unconsolable, and thought he'd gone forever! But my dad found him. My dad died a couple of months ago but I still have Toby and every time I hug him I remember my dad heroically venturing out into the night to look for him! My hero

Yeah it's a sentimental thought and a sentimental video, but these things mean so much to us when we are kids. When we're young, we invest so much personality into our toys sometimes. They can seem very real to kids, and if they go missing, the loss and, yes, grief, is real too.

BEER To The Rescue

BEER To The Rescue

Sagemind says...

It was a sad today when as many as 48 bottle of beer gave up their lives today in what bystanders are now calling a truly heroic act.

The fizzy brewskys were just sitting around minding their own business as any respectable bottle of suds would do, when all of a sudden, this guy breaks in into their place and tries to rob the dispatch girl. The groups of beer didn't think twice as they allowed themselves to be pummeled in the direction of the would-be thief giving their lives in exchange for the girl's.

People will gather latter tonight around a ceremonial BBQ to commemorate the dead with several of their relatives and some snacks.

Twitter Rape Victim Punished

How about stupid fucking youtube tv-hosts wannabes who doesnt understand how the legal system works, or that even criminal rapist teens also have families, should we name and shame them too?

First, I think the hosts of this video have the naming/shaming you're suggesting handled multiple times in this video. Second, people on the internet aren't helping things?! HOLY SHIT LIGHT THE BAT SIGNAL!
I just don't get the hate in here. People are saying "I totally empathize with the victim" and then "I hate the hosts" but usually not "I hate the perpetrators" and that's just bizarre that there's more hate for people fucking around on the internet than for real life rapists.
The victim obviously was aware of the consequences (she's in a rather unfair position btw) and she named the rapists anyway. She obviously accepts that the law will punish her, which I think is rather heroic. She was raped, and she has been threatened with a penalty for talking about it, and that didn't stop her. I hope she is actually rewarded in the long run.

I did share some of my feelings towars the perpetrators, actually, and they werent positive either. As for people on the internet not helping, fair point, but there are ways of doing opinion pieces/news stories without making a bad situation worse.

My point is that one should be careful about this vigilante-business on the internet. Like it or not, there are human beings behind names and news-stories, We werent there when the crime happened, we werent there when the trial was held, we didnt even read the case files or make any effort. Because thats the courts and the legal systems job. It is also their job to find someone guilty or not and deal out punishments. Not our job.

I agree that in this case it looks like that system failed miserably, by even attempting to silence and punish the victim. That sucks, but instead of going vigilante on people, it might be a good idea to speak up against this system, appeal the descision or whatever it takes. Change the law. Thats all fine. Vigilante justice is not. That just means a bunch of uninformed trolls are responsible for dealing out sentences made using the armchair approach. We shouldt go back to that.

Rapists and murderers may be monsters to us, but society is, or atleast is supposed to be, better. To rise above revenge, bloodlust and tribal warfare, thats what civilization means.

Man of Steel - Teaser Trailer

Porksandwich says...

Aww I was hoping they did a spin off of Superman where he became a crab fisher and Mike Rowe voiced over his adventures. And then he later went on to be an ice road trucker and cheated using his super powers.

I said that jokingly, but you know......we mere humans could understand that crap. Sure he could still save people and be all heroic, but journalism is the opposite of interesting. Got some dude who can bench press cars and he's writing articles instead of doing the work of 10 guys labor in a day in one hour and running around rescuing people the rest of the day.

He could be both the common man (manual labor) and a super hero.

I always liked when Superman was not all super-positive....when he was getting into fights in restaurants and stuff. I mean your life as a secret super hero would be pretty damn stressful, and being continually upbeat is annoying.

Hooray!!! What a great example for them to set for their child. I used to work at a fast food restaurant that captured mice on sticky papers and I used olive oil to get them off and then put them in a box with a bit of food and then released them in a field. I don't know how anyone could let them die like that but it happens all the time. It's so sad. I hope this video may encourage people to be kind to little animals. promote

Good point! No more walking on the grass and crushing the ants people!

Thankfully I've never had ants in my home, but I always put the spiders outside. :

I will treat you as I do the spiders. ;

Haha! Kidding! You know you're my favorite ant.
