The Emperor Voiced by Mark Hamill's Joker

ChaosEngine says...

That was really well done. *quality

Looking back on it, Vader without the mask actually kinda sounded like Bane.

But the really interesting thing is, after all the bullshit prequels, I'd forgotten just how good the end of Jedi actually was. Ok, the ewoks were annoying, but on the other hand, you had the death star space battle and tunnel run (still one of the most exciting set pieces on film IMO), and the fantastic confrontation with genuine pathos set to one of Williams crowning musicals achievements.

It's just awesome, and it made me remember why I loved Star Wars so much as a kid.

That and the Emperor fucking terrified me.

Star Wars: Teaser Trailer

Very cool. So, there's this story that when Lucas washed the rushes (early film edits) without music, he thought he had a total dud on his hands---it was after the iconic John Williams' musical score was added, that it suddenly fleshed out into the space opera that we know and love so much...

I wish Episodes I,II, and a good chunk of III hadn't, uh, gone astray (Jar Jar Binks must die!)---and Ewoks???
Sigh.

Still, Star Wars...

The Return of The Return of the Jedi: Special Edition

dystopianfuturetoday says...

"While ewoks are often mawkishly portrayed on film as cute, curious little urchins that live in tree houses and coo adorably, the reality of wild ewoks is an entirely different story....The dandy little chaps you’ve seen on the silver screen are just midgets in ewok suits; real ewoks don’t have smooth, clean fur, and no sane human would be inclined to pet one. They’re so plagued by lice, fleas, dander and mange that their coats are spotted with huge bald patches and pocked with weeping sores. Touching one would likely net you a fistful of loose fur, matted with pus and crawling with ticks."

Star Wars is good because it feels like an Indiana Jones film. Funny interactions with plenty of adventure. The Ewoks fit right in to the feeling of the other films and this feeling of adventure and fun was completely missing from the new films.

Funny video, but it's a load of horsecrap.

All the other "annoying, cutesy, toys" worked in the overall context of the film. Ewoks stood out like a sore thumb. Mostly because they were overstuffed. If they had been able to move like the deadly warriors that they were meant to be, it would have been fine. But as it was, the Ewoks were the first sign of Lucas' pandering to children, the beginning of his downward spiral.

I agree with him tho, remembering as a child that ewok dying was more emotional than the excitement from the final space battle which was epic as shit. Im a nerd

I'm sure Mark Hamill will be thrilled to know that scenes involving revelations about his parentage will be upstaged by a couple of jabbering throw rugs.

Honest Dark Knight Rises Trailer

Yogi says...

I'll field this. Dark Knight rises came on the tails of the two best comic book movies for one of the best comic book characters ever made. Batman Begins was amazing when you compare it to Batman movies of old and then Dark Knight was probably the greatest action movie ever made, it was incredible.

The bar was raised super high, and people had a problem with the last movie. I think it honestly wasn't tight enough...Dark Knight is tight as a drum, Rises simply isn't. It meanders, it's just unbelievable at times, it doesn't handle some of it's new characters well at all. Although there's moments in that movie that are great, I feel it's second half really failed.

What I can see is there was simply too much they wanted to do...so guess what cut it into two movies. One is Dark Knight Falls and then Dark Knight Rises. I would've loved it, hell Hobbit is suddenly 3 movies so don't tell me Nolan couldn't make this stuff into two, it would've ROCKED.

!SPOILERS!

The ending wasn't handled well either but the argument to change it is weird too. Some people say Alfred should see Batman and Catwoman and just smile, and we never see them. To me if Nolan did that it would've been hacky and exactly the same as the ending to Inception.

As a whole, this trilogy is better than the original Star Wars Trilogy, based on story and characters alone. It's MUCH better you don't know anything if you disagree. Also just like Return of the Jedi is a disappointment (More Ewoks MUST DIE!) so is Rises, yet I'll still watch it.

I'm really not sure what it is about this movie that inspires such pedantic nitpickery. Any big blockbuster can be nitpicked to death if you really want to. There are just as many plot holes in The Avengers, and everyone treated that like it was the second coming of Jesus.

Disney buy Lucasfilm for $4.05bn. Star Wars Ep. 7 in 2015.
