legacy0100 and JTZ make the worst music video ever made?
4 crybaby white kids from Albuquerque, NM. I really recommend everyone go read about these guys because it only gets funnier and funnier.
Their myspace profile is page after page of half-naked jailbait looking depressed and decorated with fake blood. Even their Wikipedia page is pending deletion for failure to be noteworthy; a requirement that even Pauly Shore has managed to meet.

"I love you more than..." (Little Britain USA)
Thanks for the website tip, Ellie Grace!
Steve Earle "Ellis Unit One"
I was fresh out of the service
It was back in '82
I raised some Cain when I come back to town
I left to be all I could be
Come home without a clue
Now, I married Dawn and had to settle down
So I hired on at the prison
Guess I always knew I would
Just like my dad and both my uncles done
And I worked on every cell block now
'N things were goin' good
But then they transferred me to Ellis Unit One
Swing low
Swing low
Swing low and carry me home
Well, my daddy used to talk about them long nights at the walls
And how they used to strap 'em in the chair
The kids down from the college and they'd bring their beer n all
'N when the lights went out, a cheer rose in the air
Well, folks just got too civilized
Sparky's gatherin' dust
'Cause no one wants to touch a smokin' gun
And since they got the injection
They don't mind as much, I guess
They just put 'em down at Ellis Unit One
Swing low
Swing low
Swing low and carry me home
Well, I've seen 'em fight like lions, boys
I've seen 'em go like lambs
And I've helped to drag 'em when they could not stand
And I've heard their mamas cryin' when they heard that big door slam
And I've seen the victim's family holdin' hands
Last night I dreamed that I woke up with straps across my chest
And something cold and black pullin' through my lungs
'N even Jesus couldn't save me though I know he did his best
But he don't live on Ellis Unit One
Swing low
Swing low
Swing low and carry me home
Swing low
Don't let go
Swing low and carry me home

Timeless Wisdom & Warnings from the Inventors of America
I will admit to a certain obsession with the founding fathers. That so many great men could have met in a single point and place in time is truly remarkable.
I strongly recommend Joseph Ellis's recent books on the characters that framed our constitution and country. Many of the presentations on the Sift, (regarding these great men), are rather selective in the portrait they paint. Jefferson, in particular, is represented more for what he said, than what he did. In reality, Jefferson would never had been able to accomplish the many great things he did, without the leisure provided him by men denied their own freedom. His embargo of English goods during his second term as President, and his executive threats of military force against Vermonters trading with Canada stood, at the time, as one of the most brazen examples of Federalism.
Still, do I admire the man? Absolutely. I stand in awe of them all, Jefferson, for his curiosity, intellect and idealism. Washington, for his courage, humility, and practicality. Adams for his dogged persistence and ethics. Franklin for his genius, humor, and fair-mindedness, and Hamilton, for his insight into the nuts and bolts needed to keep the whole thing together.
We shouldn't forget the greatest ethical compromise they all made together, and that was making debate on slavery taboo on the congress floor for 30 years so the fragile union wouldn't implode before it got off the ground. Even 70 years later, it almost blew it apart.
These were truly, truly great men, not perfect, but damn close.

The "biologically unfunny" CRITTTTER & GWIZ are SILVER!!! (Pets Talk Post)
Woohoo, I'm watching movies with friends!
Thank you all. I'm not the most prolific sifter, but I try to only sift what I really like.

No drums on this cut but Herb Ellis fills in on guitar. You can also hear Oscar scatting along as he plays as he usually did (to some people's pleasure and others' consternation).

call for mutual love: comic books (Blog Entry by smibbo)
Comics!? Did someone say comics!? Oh hell yes I love me some comics... ok favorite Trades? Ok. Preacher was excellent, you like Garth Ennis? Hmm, well I am huge on super heroes mostly but let me give you a list of some of my favorites:
Ok Hellblazer is definently up there, specifically the Garth Ennis, Brian Azurello, Warren Ellis, and Alan Moore runs. You can find a list here: http://www.hellblazertrades.com/
Ok I'll keep going I have nothing else to do:
Exterminators Volume 1,2, and 3 by Simon Oliver
The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman
Invincible (Read the first 3 trades, if you're not hooked somethings wrong with you!)
Transmetropolitan
If you've never read the Watchmen, I would get that next, that book is so important to comic book readers its not funny. Alan Moore's finest work.
I'd also reccommend picking up the Ed Brubaker Captain America run, it's fantastic.
Brian K. Vaughn's first 3 volumes of Run Aways is spectacular.
The Mark Millar Spider-Man Marvel Knights has 4 volumes that are really quite good.
Try the Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon, that is a a great book too.
Also try Ultimates 1 and Ultimates 2 (each has 2 trades) the art is spectacular and the modern day avengers story is great.
Also I am a huge Warren Ellis fan, so here is some great stuff:
Next Wave: Agents of H.A.T.E. Volume 1 & 2
Desolation Jones
Planetary (He didn't do all of em, so start at the beginning)
Also I would highly reccommend you read The Authority, check amazon start at the beginning, and I dare you not to love it. I would recommend this next since you just finished Preacher and this book is so epic in nature. Just wait till you get to the trade where they fight God.
Hope this helps!

aw yeah I luvs me some Warren Ellis!!!
Miller's great too. all stark and dour.... him and Moore are just kinda "given" though.

My favorite ever? Well, that would be Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis, because I do loves the futuristic Hunter S. Thompson-esque Spider Jerusalem, easily one of the best characters ever... and, I mean come on, what's not to love about a comic where the characters are always popping on down to the local Black-ops Deli for some Chilean baby extract, or Caribou eyes? Or chainsmoking Carcinoma Angel cigarettes while plotting the downfall of a President also referred to as "The Beast" via renegade journalism and a bowel disruptor gun?
I've also loved Frank Miller's work, the Sin City series, and 300 which was a fave from WAAAAY the fuck before hollywood made it into a craptastic piece of feature-length propaganda... Miller's take on Batman was also really cool, I think it was called Dark Knight Returns? Something like that.
Current faves are Warren Ellis' Desolation Jones, and Fell, which he is collaborating on with Ben Templesmith, a super talented young artist from Down Under who also writes and illustrates another current addiction of mine, Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse. Totally great series btw, funny, creepy, and perverse in all the right ways... I think the title of the most recent story arc kind of sums it up: "Leprechaun Fight Night"... oh so fucking funny.
And the history nerd inside me is completely in love with Eric Shanower's epic attempt to turn the Illiad into a graphic novel with his Age of Bronze comic... a huge undertaking I must say, really, the depth that he goes into with his literary and historical research is amazing... and the drawing so well done and detailed as well... its no wonder he's on issue number 25 or so and the Greeks haven't even made it to Illium yet!
