Ok, I'm late to the party but I finally saw it last night and by christ it was awful, for all of the above reasons and more.

And @Unsung_Hero, I'm quite happy to enjoy a mindless space terror/action flick, but prometheus isn't even that. It kinda tries to be, but doesn't really know whether it wants to be high concept or thriller or both and fails at all of them.

What really annoys me is that there's some potentially awesome sci fi out there (Altered Carbon is still in development hell) and somehow someone lets Damon "Lost, but in space" Lindelof write this crap.

I watched the episode of "Spoilers" on Hulu with Damon Lindelof talking about Prometheus. It seems like he just comes up with ideas that make JJ Abrams say "cool" and then the guy doesn't bother to figure out how to make a coherent plot out of it.

If you take into consideration that he was a fan-boy who apparently had a producer friend who got him "in the room" to pitch ideas for "Lost," its no surprise he kind of sucks.

This looks like it is from the set of the recent Matt Damon movie "We Bought a Zoo." -ps: comments appear blank when posted from the mobile web site.

Reminds me of the trailer for 'Moon'... you come away with the feeling that you've basically watched the movie, but in that case the journey and the characters and the concept were so well done that the general plot twists were icing on the cake. Hopefully 'Prometheus' will be similar in that regard.

Given how coy and secretive Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof were in the Q&A session yesterday regarding plot, I think there's plenty of surprises, twists and unexpected sub-plots waiting in the film.
