Anyone else get the feeling Seth watches the Daily Show, then Last Week Tonight, then shows up the next day at the writer's meeting and says, "Hey everyone! I HAVE AN AWESOME IDEA for a Closer Look segment!!"

Just saying he's a bit derivative.

It is clearly hyperbole when he says everyone believes in it then makes humor at the end countering that very same claim in the video. It is also clearly hyperbole when comedy is used in a strictly fact-based format that messes up the facts, etc. (Ie., comedy is FINE. But do it factually )

For example, the Daily Show recently was under attack for their biased coverage of the Democratic debate. How many people got the "real" journalism from them in the past? That integrity was/is so important it isn't even funny.

It is why they were so disgusted/pissed when basically Trevor Noah was sucking Hilary's dick off into his mouth. It also didn't help when he later forced a skit (intended to be funny...but was really lame...) that painted Sanders as a Spic hater (Which it really didn't do...)

Point is Adam uses a fact/truth/real history model for his audience. We expect that.

It's obvious Trev has the same talented writers, but I sure hope he finds his groove soon or they're going to have to bring back Stewart. I'm giving him a long benefit of the doubt because he's replacing Daily Show perfection, but he needs to grab a hold of something. Make it his.

The material is there, but his delivery is... meh... his standup is excellent. I wonder if he's someone who requires a lot of rehearsal to get the nuances in sync.

I liked the old show better, but some of it still has a little vibe of the old Colbert Report. I watched it for the first week and quit. I never cared much for late night talk shows. I used to occasionally watch Letterman and a few others, but I only like the opening bits. I don't care to watch interviews of celebrities, so I quit watching when the interviews started. Even with the Daily Show and the old Colbert Report I rarely watched the interview portion.

God damn it! John Oliver is just hitting home runs back to back lately! He is really, really, really good! I never expected to see much of him when he shed a few tears during his last performance on the Daily Show. I bow to you Mr. Oliver and I look forward to next week!

So...Jon knocks their choice to "bring in an unknown British guy" when he himself brings in a token black guy whose whole stick is opposite The Daily Show. I am not saying Trevor will be bad, or that he should't bring in his own style. He should def bring in his own style. But not some style that is polar opposite of what is known.

I am saying there were a thousand better choices that included well-known and loved females, Trevor's token appearances, while not bombs, were very so-so, and Jon doesn't even elaborate on why he picked the unknown, so-so guy...

The Daily Show will be back in a few weeks with the new host.

That's great, and sort of a one-sentence summation of what has made the Daily Show so great and so important. Who's going to pick up the sniff-testing slack?

I didn't expect to be this bummed out by the last episode. None of the others have really effected me much, but the Daily Show's been a 4-day-a-week habit for a long time. Everthing dies.
